Animal Training (Quetzalcoatl)
Rank: "D"
Skill: Sophisticated Skill
Effect: User is trained at working with animals, and can teach them tricks, get them to follow the user's simple commands, or even domesticate them.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Relevant Abilities: Charisma Skill. Die Rolls: 5 Die Rolls. Check Requirement: Described. Characters with this skill can train 1 type of creature (declared when the skill is chosen) to obey simple commands and perform tricks. A character may acquire additional animal training skills to train other types of creatures, or can improve their skill with a type already chosen. A trainer can work up to 3 creatures at 1 time. The trainer may choose to teach general tasks or specific tricks. A general task gives the creature the ability to react to a number of nonspecific commands to do its job. Examples of general tasks include guard and attack, carry a rider, perform heavy labor, hunt, track, or fight alongside soldiers. A specific trick involves the trained creature doing 1 specific action. A horse may rear on command, a falcon may pluck a designated object, a dog may attack a specific person, or a rate may run through a particular maze. With enough time, a creature can be trained to do both general tasks and specific tricks. Training for a general task or trick takes up uninterrupted work equal to "E" Rank training. Both the user, nor the animal gain Training Points when learning these tricks. At the end of the training, a skill check is made. If successful, the animal is trained. If the die roll fails, the beast is un-trainable. An animal trainer can also try to tame wild animals. Wild animals can be tamed only when they are very young. The taming requires 1 month of uninterrupted work with the creature. At the end of the month, a skill check is made. If successful, the beast is suitable for training. If failed, the creature remains too wild to be trained. It can be kept, though it must be leashed or caged. Synergy: A user with Animal Training gives a +5 per Mastery Level Synergy Bonus to Riding (If it's a creature). Some practical applications of Animal Training follow:
Limit: Must learn from Skills.

The next morning Valerys woke up with Akumu's tail wrapped around her like a blanket, and she blushed a little. Leaving his side and standing up and yawning. Akumu woke up as she started to move and just looked ahead lazily, as if he couldn't believe that he was actually thinking about teaming up with a human. "How'd you sleep?" Valerys said. Akumu also yawned and Valerys laughed. "Good. I slept well too. Are you ready to go out and do some training?" Akumu looked at her spunk and got up groggily, slithering outside of the cave with her and going out into the desert to train. The two of them stood together in the middle of the sand and Valerys said, "The best way for me to train you is to do exactly that. You and I will have to act as if we are attacking enemies together and work through basic strategies. I need to know that you'll be able to understand and listen to me." The serpent looked at her, seemingly ready to start, and Valerys raised her hand motioning for him to move forward.
He got this and rushed through the air, Valerys close behind him, and the two of them were running across the sandy plains together -- a black and red dash through the landscape. Valerys was actually faster than the beast and slowed down to keep pace, using a cartwheel or two to flip over its body. Akumu tried to read her and bent its body so that she could do it, coming up with some good ways of going over one another. "Good job!" Valerys said and now the two of them were coming up to a palm tree. Valerys went to stab it with her spear, while at the same time Akumu shot out an Airblast. Suddenly the tree was devastated and blasted to bits, and Valerys grinned at her companion. "We're getting good at working together, a few more hours like this and I think we can even call ourselves friends." Akumu looked at her and batted a wing, as if he was ready for more.
Valerys and he kept training for a couple more hours and then the two of them were exhausted. They got to know each other better the whole time, like how Valerys liked to strike quick and avoid attacks. Or how Akumu liked to get in close and deliver devastating ninjutsu. Soon Akumu was trusting her more as well, and when the two of them were done they decided to go back to Castle Senpu. The two headed back to the dojo and got some food at the mess hall. The other students looked at them strangely as they ate together, but soon enough Lue was coming by. "Oh hey Valerys," Lue said and he went to sit down at the table with Akumu. "Who is this?" The boy looked at Lue, unsure what to do, but Valerys quickly did a motion that indicated it was safe. Akumu seemed to listen, for now, although he watched the boy suspiciously. "Oh, that is Akumu. He's one of my friends who came here to train." She smiled as best she could, acting like this was nothing.
