The next clone decided to move off to the west, mainly because it was the last cardinal direction. In doing so it detected a whiff of the tree it was searching for, an everburn pine was close by! The clone refocused its efforts allowing its keen senses to guide it towards the smell. As it closed the distance it prepared its equipment to harvest from the tree and in doing so the group would be able to use the resin from within.

The last clone went with Barbas to act as a form of identification, for while Barbas possessed keen senses he lacked the in-depth knowledge of plants that Yoko possessed. Thus, he would not have been able to reliably identify the everburn pine if he had encountered it. Together the pairing searched their area inspecting the trees in search of the resin that they desired. Fortunately, they didn't have to search for too long before coming across a tree in the distance.

Alas, Yoko and her clones had been unable to find all of the everburns, they had managed to find three between them, not that they were aware of this fact. Thus, everyone who had failed to find a tree, being Yoko Barbas, and some of the clones, instead of elected to continue their search for the trees being that they were only a few minutes into searching their respective areas. Unfortunately, Barbas' telepathic abilities were not able to aid in conveying this information.

The clones that managed to find trees quickly set about extracting the resin from them. It was important not to damage the tree during this process, or at least it was important to Yoko. As while this did not reduce the amount of resin gathered from the tree it could impact its wellbeing, something that she was keen to avoid. As such Yoko's clones were very careful with the amount of bark they removed from the tree and the manner in which they treated it.

Yoko quickly darted down from a tree, her keen senses had told her that a tree was nearby she just needed to locate it! Where could it be? She continued to search the area in hot pursuit of the tree and the resin that it contained. Off in the distance, she spotted a tree with very similar bark, in a clearing. Perhaps that was the tree? The explosive nature could be the reason that the area around it was clear?

Yoko and her companions harvested their resin from their respective trees taking great care not to inflict too much damage to the trees. Once they had gathered all of the materials they departed from the area to return to the village.

Displacer Beast Rank: "S" Type: Very Rare, Large, Mystical Beast Effect: And illusion Cat, a Puma like Creature with tentacles. Can appear to be 2 meters away from where they actually are. Special: Preparation: ---; Duration: 2d8 rounds Drawback: --- Description: Picture Also known as Displacae-Felinus or Illusion Cat. This vaguely puma like creature is bluish black, its tentacles are dead black, the horny edges of its tentacles are brownish yellow and its eyes glow a hellish green. This Beast's molecular vibrations make it appear to be 2 meters from where it actually is, in a random direction. Displacer Beasts instinctually hate all Blink Dogs and will attack them on sight. Other combinations are indeed possible, but best left to the pondering of sages. Yoko and her companions had returned to the forest lands, for last time they had failed to capture the elusive displacer beast that roamed the lands. Under normal circumstances Yoko would not have minded a creature roaming loose within a forest, it was its natural habitat, after all, however, the creature had been attacking livestock and people nearby. As such, she had an aligned interest in hunting the beast down: she wanted to acquire its pelt. As Yoko moved deeper into the forest she began to use her bardic powers to augment her luck.

Yoko had brought with her, her trusty recurve bows, both perfected and containing different enchantments, along with two-hundred normal arrows to use on any potential threat. Other than that her attire and equipment was fairly standard she wore her battle dress uniform, with thick black leather boots in an effort to at least try and blend in to the surroundings. As she progressed she continued to sing her melody boosting her power of luck.

Displacer beasts are rather difficult creatures to track, they are one of the strongest forms of cat about, something she knew much about as an Inuzuka. The beasts could use their genjutsu like effects to warp the minds of those who attempted to observe them, a powerful ability indeed that allowed them to effectively dodge most attacks.

Yoko however, knew that the creatures possessed this ability and were, therefore, better prepared than a run of the mill person who had just a chance encounter with one of the creatures. She decided that their first move should be to fan out, thus she created multiple shadow clones to aid in the search of the area. The idea being that they could cover more ground by splitting up than they could by remaining together.

Yoko decided that she would head north, as she often did in situations like this. She was intent on using all of her uncanny skills and techniques to the best of her abilities to hunt down these creatures. She carefully looked around at the ground before she advanced inspecting it for any signs of tacks, outside of her own.

If she and her clones were able to accurately track the creature then they would have a metaphorical leg up on it, for while the creature possessed the ability to bend light around itself that same ability did not apply to its tracks. Thus, by accurately tracking it one could determine its position, or at least that was the youths theory. Alas, however, there didn't seem to be much in the way of tracks in the direction Yoko was advancing in.

The clones, on the other hand, had a bit more look, they had studied all about the creatures when obtaining their total mastery of creature lore and thus knew with a reasonable degree of certainty what their prints looked like along with the size and scale that they should be. A set of tracks some three metres from their starting position seemed to fit with what they were looking for.

Thus two of the clones walked off on route following after the markings in an effort to find the elusive creature that was causing so much harm to the surrounding area. They pondered between themselves what the ability of the creatures would be and how they would handle it. Thanks to the shadow clone ability however they both possessed a bow each along with the other items that Yoko had brought with her, thereby making them formidable opponents.

The clones had found their prey, the displacer beast that had been harassing the good people of the area. They wasted no time in delivering a sneak attack aimed at the beast, both firing from the shadows. Fortunately, it seemed that their aim held true, able to strike down the displacer beast with their uncanny accuracy. There was no way that a man or beast could withstand such a vicious assault, thus with the beast slain the clones went about harvesting the displacer beast, one disappearing so as to alert Yoko who promptly made her way over to the scene.

Dye Bark Tree Rank: "B" Type: Uncommon, Colossal, Tree Effect: May be used to make armor or harden other wood. Special: Preparation: Special; Duration: Special Drawback: --- Description: Dye bark trees are enormous trees, one of the tallest trees in the ancient forests. Their branches sprout out in all directions, starting low down above the ground and carry a thick coverage of light green leaves. Between the thick leaves are found multicolored fruits - conical shaped fruits that hang down from the branches by long, thin stems and are easy to pick. The bark of this tree is thick and strong, but can easily be removed from the tree without causing undue harm it, as the bark re-grows within a few days. Further, the tree secretes a thick resin that hardens on exposure to air and moisture to protect itself. Dye bark trees are often found in rural and poor areas, and sometimes the tree is called Poor Man's Armor. Rumors abound about the application of the tree's properties, and many alchemists have wasted their lives away trying to use the tree's leaves, bark, resin, wood and branches to construct a perfect, light, yet strong armor to rival full metal armor. Legend has it that such a suit of armor exists, although most dismiss this as wild speculation. The dye bark tree fruits are edible and tasty, although they are most often used when crushed to form dyes of different colors for clothing. However, the dyes become much stronger when mixed with the resin of the tree, easily removed from the tree and bark if the latter is removed. 3d100 fruit are found in the tree, 100 produces 1 large Pitcher for purposes of alcohol. Mixing the fruit dyes and the bark resin creates a putrid smelling substance that can be applied to clothing and wood to harden them once the resin completely dries. Clothing treated in this manner grants the wearer a +1 hardness, while wood treated with this increases its hardness by +2. 1 tree produces 9 cups of Resin. Each armour piece needs 1 cup of resin (Torso takes 2 cups). Hardness: 6; Armour Points/Inch: 10; Armour Class: -2. Dye Bark Tree produces 240,000 Ryo worth of material cost for items. Dye Bark Tree items cost 1/4 normal price. Availability: Year Round; Region: Special; Identification: Very Difficult; Cultivation: Difficult Limit: Must know Botany for Special Regions. 30% chance in finding. Next on Yoko's list of things to find was a rather common tree, well technically it was classified as uncommon but still finding them was rather commonplace. The Dye bark tree had been the subject of many of the alchemical books and scriptures that the youth had learned most of which centred around unlocking its abilities as a supreme natural armour that overshadowed even the rarest of metals.

Alas, Yoko lacked the means by which to unlock such a power. She did, however, have need of its secondary power, for when one extracted the resin from the tree they could use it in a special alchemical mixture. Yoko had never made it herself but she had read about it in several of her texts. The general idea is that one could change the colour of the material they applied the resin to along with augmenting its resistances.
