Once he had found himself kilometers away from his home village of Kumogakure, Ranmaru had readily traversed a great deal of the countryside by means of his ability to blink, and his natural speed. He moved nimbly across the mountainous terrain with his longsword and large disc strapped to his body, as the additional weight did little to encumber the taijutsu master. With a tactical vest outfitted to its brim with hundreds of star-shaped shuriken, the youth would tackle any adversary head on using electrical and quick tactics to rectify the situation. In time, using the compass and map given to him by Sebastian, Ranmaru was miles north east of Kumo, and on his way to the forlorn Hagane mountain range... It has been rumored for centuries to have been the home of the Oni tribe located in Lightning country. These non-human threats held the key to new forms of power that he sought... regardless of the consequence. Thick sheets of rain pelted down on him, but given his over cloak, which was water proof, Ranmaru was free of feeling wet in the torrential environ.
A bolt of lightning cracked through the dark gray clouds in the upper atmosphere and brought to his electric blue eyes a towering silhouette of jagged spires. Out of all the surrounding mountains, these seemed the most perilous; it was evident that he would reach the foot of the Hagane mountain range in a day or two's time. The Genin found an abandoned cave somewhere close to an encompassing forest and would rest a while there to restore what ever chakra he expended to make it thus far. The natural darkness of the cave was not at all unsettling, but a comfort in the weather. He would slowly begin to nod off... possibly from the sound of crashing rain outside, or perhaps he found the terrible striking of thunder and lightning to be so natural that it was actually soothing. Before long, though, he found himself asleep, seated upright just in case he had to spring back to life if a threat presented itself. But this cave had been abandoned and no other would disturb him.
...Perhaps because of his aura of misfortune, Ranmaru was altogether saved from the vicious animals that lived in the countryside. From within the cave that he slept, a rhythmic humming could be heard, and a noxious energy felt for meters around his general location.
