Lightning streaked across the sky, temporarily lighting the blackness a blinding white. The time was approximately ten in the evening so the village was asleep. Thunder rolled the heavens, shaking the ground and rattling the windows of the tallest buildings in Amegakure. Toward the outskirts of the village was a hill that loomed over the east section of the village’s marketplace. A lone black dojo sat upon the hill surrounded by a six foot wooden fence. The dojo itself was a simple one story dojo, nothing fancy but it served its purpose.
The interior of the dojo was stark, black and was of original construction with wooden beams and no insulation. It had been built that way so that the trainers who utilised this building were unable to sleep due to the cold. It also had a obstacle course used to train animals in the backyard. This is where Yoko will be having his training sessions. But tonight he will be inside. “Come on boy, we have the night and this is the only chance I could get now that I’ve been declared as Amekage.” I said. My response was a whistle-like whimper - Yoko had always liked resting at this hour.
As I push the large wolf into the dojo’s doors, he sits down in the middle of the doorway, blocking my entry into the dojo. The wind causes the rain to change direction and I get a shower of water before I thump the wolf’s side hard. With a gruff Yoko moves further into the building and starts padding around the room wagging his tail. “Dick.” I muttered, pulling the doors shut and ringing out my wet hair. “Very mature of you.” I said, flicking water at him and getting another shower when Yoko shakes his heavy mass of fur near me.
“The instructor will be here any minute so behave yourself!” I used my firm tone then. Yoko knew what that meant and responded with a gruff before slapping my side with his tail. He trotted over to the other side of the dojo while I flicked the lights on, cursing under my breath as I did so. When light erupts inside the dojo, I shrug off the bag I had strapped to my back and started rummaging through it. I had taken a few scrolls from the treasury in the tower and as Amekage I had full access to any jutsu I desired within reason.
Also, since I am also a Chuunin I was well within my rights to learn this particular technique. Why I had not learned it after I was promoted to chuunin was beyond me but no matter, there was no other time like now. As I unrolled the scroll upon the floor, Yoko pads up to my side to look over my shoulder as I read the contents of the scroll. Didn’t seem too bad. I think I can do this. With a brief glance at Yoko, I roll up the scroll and set it down on the floor beside the bag before moving over to stand in the centre of the dojo. Now it was time to get started.
