Personality
Trust and cooperation are highly valued to Haru. Much of his time is spent attempting to discern people’s true motives so that he can carefully temper his expectations of his comrades. Knowing of the motivations of many in the ninja profession, he is generally wary of new team mates though always unassuming and kind. Once total trust with a friend or comrade has been confirmed, Haru is a generous and accountable friend to have.
Is a social setting Haru is both forthcoming with his own opinion and willing to listen to the opinions of others. He believes collaboration always makes a mission go smoothly, and as such sometimes bows to the pressure of his teammates. All subjects of conversation generate some interest in him and so he likes to gather a diverse team. Friends can be both an asset towards your goals and an enjoyable diversion in life, as he sees it.
One of Haru’s major flaws is his inability to cope under life-and-death pressure. He feels great anxiety when violence enters into his missions and fears injuries both to himself and others, though that anxiety rarely affects his ability to respond to clear enemy combatants. When his comrades are injured, he can find himself torn between attempting to end the threat or treat his wounded ally first.
Haru enjoys both solitude and company. One of his favorite activities is taking long leisurely strolls and taking in beautiful scenery. Socially, he likes to try foreign foods, listen to foreign music, and investigate exotic species of animal and plant. Even practicing his crafting and herbal professions are diversions he enjoys; Haru is rarely bored and easily amused even by the most off-putting companions.
Appearance
When on missions or about his personal business in the village Haru wears garb modeled after the wandering samurai. His hakama is colored a rusty auburn with charcoal gray trim, his ninja equipment attached to his waist. Generally he will wear plain black sandals and will pair all of his outfits with a downy white sash around the waist. He may sometimes opt to wear a variation of this outfit in combinations of robin’s egg blue and cream trim or moss green with copper trim.
His face is weathered and fairly handsome, often carrying a few days lazy stubble. Haru’s eyes are a chocolate brown and generally squint no matter the mood, gazing under a broad tanned brow and above strong wide cheek bones. His hair falls just about the tops of his shoulders and is generally held banded in a low ponytail with a delicate brown ribbon. The hair line is smooth and broad, and the hair luxuriously thick if not so soft. The lines of his face are expressive, and the gestures of his mouth and eyebrows are often exaggerated in casual conversation.
Physically Haru is heavily muscled, but his frame is fairly compact with the notable exception of his broad shoulders. His whole body is tanned and generally salty from dust and exercise, with calloused skin in many places. His hands are especially weathered with thick rough fingers, evidence of both long delicate artisan work and rigorous physical labor. Scars can be found all over his body, though none seem especially gruesome. In particular his hands and forearms are crossed with rough scars and scrapes. In polite society his touch is never heavy-handed but his hand is coarse.
Background
Haru was born the son of two retired chunin somewhere in the east of Earth Country. His mother had been a medical ninja and had been disabled during a mission somewhere in Fire country, eventually leading to the removal of one arm. Despite this, he learned the basics of medical ninjutsu from her as a young boy, possessing prodigious chakra control.
He was often absentminded in his studies, preferring to play games and gallivant with this and that group of friends. Though his parents had planned on sending him to Iwagakure to develop his medical ninjutsu, he refused and intended to spend his life wandering and enjoying foreign locales. They were surprisingly accepting, almost thankful that violent combat wouldn’t make a likely end of their only child. The only study that seemed to hold his interest was the natural science, rocks and herbs and beasts and their uses.
At the age of sixteen, several weeks before Haru was planning to begin a season’s long journey around Fire Country, a terrible commotion began around his parent’s home. There was spillover from an intense battle several miles away when a high-level earth style jutsu launched (or rebounded, he was never sure) three enormous mounds of rock over his home, crushing both of his parents to death.
This tragedy weighed heavily on Haru, and he fell to squandering his youth with gambling, odd jobs, and wandering. Over the next several years he wandered through many countries, eventually coming into contact with retired Earth ninja who had been good friends with his parents. With their help he slowly came around to devoting his life to honorable ninja ideology and developed a strong sense of patriotism towards his family’s village. They got him in contact with Iwagakure and sent him through the academy at the tender age of 22. He took his embarrassment with humility, enjoying even the company of mocking academy students half his age.
Now he tries to split his time between enjoying the finer things and devoting his spirit towards bettering the village and community.

Personality
Haru’s chief driving ideal is his ninja code is honor and protection of the powerless. He has complete loyalty to the Stone village and honors their laws, though he is loath to harm civilians or destroy their property when on missions. This often leads to him attempting to balance both the success of his missions and the welfare of people he meets in his travels.
Trust and cooperation are highly valued to Haru. Much of his time is spent attempting to discern people’s true motives so that he can carefully temper his expectations of his comrades.
