Personality
Meaningful words
Asami is of serious nature, and she does not make an oath lightly. In her entire 13 years of life she has made only two oaths. One when she entered the ranks of a medical nin, to not kill unless in line of duty and forced to it, and the second was to herself to honour her dad’s legacy. Thus she goes to great lengths to not kill, she understands that it’s a line that shouldn’t be easily crossed, and if she cross it, she will not be able to be more like her dad. Thus she uses blunt weapons, or senbons and shuriken, only going for kunai’s as the last line of defense. Her words are binding, yet she does it out of a sense of duty, a fear to become like her step-dad and not out of any moral or ethical reasons.
Temperamental
Asami is feisty. People rarely see, because she tries so hard to keep her cool, to control her emotions, but the kunoichi has a temper. She can go from cool and calm to shouting easily. So far thankfully she has not hit anyone, but the frustrations she cannot get out at home, are frustrations she brings with her like a knot of anger in her stomach she cannot get rid of, and thus it will happen over others.
Driven
Asami is used to work. It’s a world she knows, and she knows exactly what she wants to do and be. She works hard to succeed a hidden fear still present in her of failing, and she can focus for outstanding amounts of time. She can have trouble understanding that not everyone is as ambitious as her, that not everyone knows exactly what they want with their future, and how to work towards that. A carefree attitude is forreign for her, and in the academy she had nothing but disdain towards it.
Pessimist
Having seen human cruelty, Asami ended up becoming a pessimist. She expects the worst to happen, in life, with people and on missions. So she will always be prepared for as many things as possible. She doesn’t trust easily, and will have a grim sort of satisfaction when people show their flaws. It means she was right all along, and they would show their true colours eventually. She smiles and acts alright, but she remembers the bad more than the good.
Sarcastic
Once she gets angry Asami has a tendency to become sarcastic. She is observant and will point out people's weaknesses, stupid choice and haunt them about it. Once she is sarcastic she is being mean, and she is never subtle about it. She rather turn to Sarcasm to mask a mistake she has done, especially if it means she was not prepared enough, because as much as she expects of everyone else she expects even more of herself.
Teenage rebellious
Like some teenagers Asami feels disgruntled about her mom and stepdad. She has the teenage narrow mindedness, and has chosen to chase a dream of a perfect father, whom no one can disprove. It drives her forward in search of becoming an even better medic, in preparing to make sure she can deal with any situation without taking a human life, and helps her deal with the pain her stepdad caused her. The image of perfection is an illusion she has cast on herself, the only one she isn’t cynical and distrustful to, which is both her greatest strength of hope that she can change and become like him, and her greatest weakness as she sees other’s non perfection as a personal insult to hurt her.
Appearance
Being of average height yet, Asami is tanned from being outside so much, fit from the training, especially in blocking and dodging, with lean muscle that are not much good for damage. She leans more to the skinny side, with to little eating and too much time avoiding home. Being in the age where she will grow a lot, she is using all her inner energy for that, and has a gangly build still with limbs not quite fitting propertinally.
Her wavy sun bleached hair curls slightly down past a gentle face, still looking a little too big for her neck, with green eyes peaking out, big and and serious. Still her entire body is under development, but what one can see is a square and stubborn jaw on it’s way, making it clear she will be no symbol of femininity, but one of strength. Her lightly thin lips doesn’t move much, even smiles always seem to be controlled somewhat, like she is afraid of letting loose. Or she just doesn’t have much to smile about.
She dresses practical, but with a slight twist of her own style, as so many showed her she ought to do. A pair of shorts, as the sun is something to be enjoyed when it’s there in stone, because scrapes are something she was taught was okay, and because they give more freedom of movement, and gets snared in less stiff branches when occasionally that is to be found in the rocky area. A belt she was given by her grandparents that keeps all her different pouches fastened and near, and a short wavy piece of rosa pink to wave behind, because she is female and most female kunoichi seems to choose skirt like outfits. Trying to blend in, didn’t help her, yet it stuck because it was one of the few things she has done that isn’t practical. Her mom sewed it together with the shorts to let her worry about even less.
Many shinobi uses a fashionate type of bandages to keep their legs from hurting with their gear, but Asami wears one wrapped around her abdomen for very different reasons. To hide the horrible scar she once gave herself when her stepdad’s punishment went too far. Even around family she never shows her body for that very reason.
A short and tight rosa top that won’t get in the way, to match the skirt like fabric with a short sleeved jacket on top is to once more enjoy the heat and not get a stroke, yet even if the jacket is open, and short in itself it’s custom made thanks to her mom to fit her, and never be an easy target. A pair of long sandal boots for hiking, something that protects her ankle and keep her legs walking straight is what finishes the impression of a girl who wants to be both fashionable and practical yet have not quite learned how to pull it off properly.
Background
Birth
Birth are something so general for everyone and yet such a special occasion that those involved is never the same after. The seamstress who lay down pushing, was young and rash, with a longing for adventure that made her fall in love with a young shinobi of her village, a dashing man with a heart of gold, and a soft spot of innocence. At the moment she was in agony with all the women of her family around her as she was fighting to deliver the product of said love. Sadly the man in question was on a mission in a far away country, a mission he would never return from.
As the first light peaked from atop the cliffside, a baby’s first scream rung out, and the woman fell back, exhausted. That was how Asami the Morning Beauty came to be. Surrounded by people who loved her, a product of a brief but passionate romance. She was a normal baby in all regards, there was nothing to suggest how her life would turn out, no religion she would be indoctrinated into, and mostly civilians in her family. The parents to her dad came over the next day to look at the tiny figure and marveled at the similarity to her dad. In time that would be her salvation, as she would gain knowledge and possibilities from there, that she would not gain at home.
The first years
For a time after, when it was known that her father would never come home, her mother Aiko would fall into a depression and struggle to balance being a single mom and keep her job. For a few months Asami was basically raised by other family members that came by and took care of her, until finally her grandmother had enough. She stalked into their house with her own force of personality and a son that took Asami to his place for a few days. She was a bit withdrawn already, but the family had been able to minimize the consequences and in time she would heal almost completely from that time.
A few days later everything had changed. Asami and her mother moved into her grandmother’s house and there they would live for a few years. Aiko was able to go back to work, and her mom would be a full time grandmom and housewife. Emiko really grew in those years, her mom pulled herself together and slowly got over the death of her beloved, and rejoiced over the miracle of her daughter. She calmed down somewhat, and matured into a calm and sweet woman.
The new husband
A few years later Aiko fell in love once more. It was another shinobi of the Stone village. This man was much different from her first love, and a bit older than her as well. They moved into his house when Asami was 3, and for a long time everything was good.
But as all good things, it had to end. When he discovered Asami showed interest in his work in medicine, he decided to teach her. 6 years old. But her new dad, the only dad she had ever known, and who she didn’t know wasn’t her dad at all, was much different as a teacher than he was as an slightly estranged dad. He was ruthless. Did not believe in being soft on his student, so first he made her study plant life and possibilities for hours and hours upon end, drilling her in the subject she had been taught about, and when she failed or did not live up to his expectations he would find a subtle way to punish her. It could be even more work, or subtle genjutsu that she nor anyone else would realize.
He would teach her the mundane ways of bandaging, cleaning a wound as well as anatomy and discovering toxins and diseases. He had isolated her with work, so Asami didn’t have friends to speak to about this. The only time Asami was off free was when he was on a mission. At which time he had given her so much work that she had no time. Afraid of the punishment Asami diligently worked, and the family around her only thought she was interested to even do it when he wasn’t around.
The escape of the academy.
When she was 7 Asami was enrolled in the academy. Everyone was so proud, and she simply smiled and nodded, even if that was not something she had envisioned for herself. It would only mean she would end up being like him, which was the last on her mind. Yet while the workload intensified, while she was taught even more harshly, given punishment disguised as training on how to dodge, by having him throw things at her, or attack her when there was no chance of winning even then, did she realize that there was hours and hours each day she was gone from him. And she discovered that chakra was really exciting! So even if she the other kids saw her as an outsider, even if she didn’t really know how to connect with them, she enjoyed working this way, with no dad breathing down her neck, and hazing her when she didn’t do it perfectly.
Especially after one day, when she snapped at him after a particularly bad failure, one she should have known, when he dropped subtlety in his genjutsu and made her believe that oversized beetles were coming from everywhere attacking her. He blocked her scream, and she could do nothing but watch as the beetles started burrowing through her naval and she saw the stomach bulging as they were multiplying inside her. She grabbed a letter opener and started piercing her stomach a safe place where she could reach in and get them out. Obviously passing out somewhere along the line, and was brought to the hospital. Since then he gave her more space, and she understood the power but more importantly the weakness of genjutsu. She could not watch him with the same fear anymore, even if he was still bigger, stronger and better than her. Neither of them ever spoke about it, he knew he had gone too far, and she had seen remorse in his eyes when he came to visit her. She didn’t forgive herself for falling for his tricks but never shared the secret with anyone, opting for not showing the scar at all.
After then she began spending more and more time with her grandmom and granddad, and that is when she discovered the horrible truth. One thing is that her dad had lied to her so many times, but even her mom had kept that crucial peace of information hidden. That he was not her real dad! That her real dad had been a hero, good and bright. That she had her green eyes from him, and jaw. They told her tales of his exploits, told how he to the end kept his positive attitude and had a heart of gold. Suddenly she had another reason to become a shinobi. To honor his legacy. She secretly vowed to be more like him, starting by not drawing blood.
So her granddad taught her the art of fighting with tonfas, being a more patient but also slow teacher, her grandmom used what little they had to give her a medical teacher who taught her the ways of a field medic, and different chakra based healing techniques. She had been taught to preserve and control herself, and also her chakra, so when she graduated the academy at the age of 13 she was ready to act as a medical shinobi in the field. If only help with the mundane skills she had already had acquired.
