The master then showed her a way to block with her sword. She watched as he showed her the five different locations to block, notating the tip of the sword specifically. She used her observation to notice any and all movements that he made, keeping a close eye to everything they were doing. They showed her each day to block a strike using both grips that she learned. This altogether would give her twenty different blocks.

She started by pointing her katana outward and moving it up and down. She focused on the first two gates of martial arts. So she focused the tip of her blade around the left top left of the body. The master slowly swung their sword, allowing her to block the strike. They then shifted to the right side and she blocked that as well.

The master shifted their stance around again, and attacked from the bottom left. Lilium blocked that strike as well. They moved on and tried cutting off her left leg from the right side. She was able to block it by shifting the sword and dropping it low. Next, the master started using stabbing motions. She blocked each one, knocking it up and knocking it down to stop it from striking her.

The user will block using the 5 blocks of Point Up and Point Down (10 in all) with any grip (With both grips, the amount of blocks should equal to 20), with just the tip of the blade while pointing it either up, or down. 4 of the blocks cover the 4 gates of Martial Arts (top left of the body, top right, bottom left, and bottom right), while the 5th is a parry for stabs. All 5 blocks are necessary for the most demanding of situations.

Having seen the attempted slashes by the master, Lilium figured she would replicate them. She started by attempting to slash down on top of her head. It was a good place to begin. She held her sword in the basic stance to do so and just raised and swung down in a quick fluid motion. Of course her blocked her attempt, but she knew he would.

She quickly recovered from his block though. She kept her stance, which was part of the style, and then attempted to swipe at the side of his head. The master again blocked the strike pretty easily. He was using the same blocking technique she had just learned. Next she tried to stab through his neck. This style was quick to recover and quick to go back on the attack. He easily blocked that as well.

She countered by trying to slash his neck clean off his body, he also blocked that. It was actually a pretty fast exchange for a newbie. She tried stabbing at the body, and then combining with a slash to the body. He was able to block both attacks. As he should be able to. Finally she tried slashing her thigh and again he blocked. He smiled at her, her assumption was it was in approval.

Description: The Katana and Wakizashi both have similar basic strike attacks that are located as "Head", "Side Head", "Neck Stab", "Neck Slash", "Side Slash", "Frontal Stab", and "Thigh Slash". User must raise the katana in front of them to slash in any of the areas, and bring it back if they use the reverse grip. With the Tanto, the basic strikes are located at the same areas, however the user will normally perform the strikes while holding the blade with the reverse grip.

Counter: 1

Having learned the basic strikes, the master started to perform another way of blocking techniques. This was actually a way to counter others in a sword lock. Lilium watched closely, using her observation abilities to keep a close eye on him. She watched how he shifted his weight when actually countering and saw that he added in an actual attack. He was noticeable only because he eyes tracked the fast movement.

In order to learn this, the first thing she wanted to do was master shifting her own weight properly. She practiced in the air. Standing in the standard stance, she put tension into her sword. Of corse she wasn’t pressing it against anything, only adding he tension. She used her minds eye to visualize someone in front of her.

She did what she thought the master had done and used an excessive amount of force in one push. She lost balance a bit. So naturally she knew that she wasn’t countering properly. She made the same movement and started to put tension in the sword as if someone were in a lock with her. She pushed back again, this time having much more success than she had before.

She was far from close to mastering the technique though. She visualized her master in front of her again. In her minds eye, the two of them locked blades once again. She knew that just using the pushing off motion did not complete the technique. So, in the air, she tried pushing him off and then striking. She successfully pushed him off, but she wasn’t able to get an attack on that same motion.

She focused on her minds eye again, and she did the same thing. Her and her master locked blades. She tried to visualize what she needed to do, instead of what she was doing. She knew she needed to push off and bring her blade down immediately after. She focused on how to do so, consistently imagining it in her mind.

She pushed him back successfully, but still found the second motion not happening. She closed her eyes and focused and locked blades once again. This time she was able to lock swords and push back. In the same motion, she brought her sword down. It wasn’t a fluid motion, but it was more successful than the previous attempts. She gripped her katana tight and visualized the training again.

She felt she would be able to finally accomplish the task given to her. So she pictured her master in front of her once more. The two of them locked blades. She pushed off and this time in a fluid motion she was able to complete the technique. She imagined the locked blades again and this time she slashed upwards. She was able to successfully use the technique both ways.

All that was left to do was practice the technique on her actual master. She charged him and used the basic strikes she learned to attack his neck. He blocked the attacked and allowed the blades to lock. Lilium then pushed off the same way she had in the air. The master smiled as she did so. She then went to swipe down at his shoulder. He appeared behind her in an instant, but her attack did work.

Speed Step: 1

The next technique was a speed step. The master displayed how to do so. Once again, she watched his movements closely. Her observation making it much easier. His motions were fluid and precise. It looked like a technique that was all of nothing. As soon as he finished the strike, he jumped back. It showed her that this technique would leave her wide open. She really couldn’t tell the benefit of such a technique, but it was one that she would have to learn to get to the more advanced techniques.

She closed her eyes and imagined her master in front of her. She took the standard stance, holding the sword with both hands, tip pointed at his throat. In her mind, he slowly moved toward her using Tensora walking, so she complied the movement. Slowly inching toward him without her foot dragging on the ground a single time. She could see him in her minds eye raising his sword above his head, so she copied the movement.

He then lunged forward at her quickly. She wasn’t used to using Tensora Walking that quickly and tried making the dashing speed, but couldn’t. She was able to go slightly quicker. But she knew that pace would leave her wide open for counter attacks. She needed to speed up her Tensora Walking for this technique to be successful.

Speed step: 2

Focusing on moving forward quicker, she practiced her Tensora Walking even more. She needed to be almost dashing while doing so. She could hardly move at a regular walking pace, despite having mastered the technique. So she stepped her right foot forward, then moved her right foot forward. She didn’t cross her steps and didn’t drag either foot on the ground.

She started to do it at a faster rate. Moving her dominant foot forward, then her back foot. She tried to go faster but tripped herself up. So she went back to moving at her own pace. She steadily increased her pace this time, instead of trying to dash at once. She was getting more and more used to the pacing. Using the actual attack would obviously come when it had to.

After a good few minutes of working on increasing her speed, she found she was able to move pretty quickly now. She even managed to dash while not losing her balance. She tried doing it now with her sword held over her head. It made it a little harder, but she had gotten used to that as well. All of this time and all she had managed to do was move her feet in the way that the technique needed her to.

With a burst of movement, she was finally able to replicate her master. He smiled at her in approval. The two of them never exchanged words and yet had an understanding. That was the best type of relationship to have with Lilium. Lilium took her stance and lurched forward. Then suddenly she shot forward, raising her blade over her head. With a quick slashing movement, she completed the technique.

However, when her master did it, he did it with a stabbing motion. She followed the same pattern. She dashed forward and stabbed the blade forward. To finish the technique, she pulled the blade back as quickly as she could. She jumped back as well to avoid any counter attacks. She successfully mimicked his movements.

Triple strafe: 1

The next technique the master showed her was a quick one. It was three consecutive strikes to the head. She watched in amazement as he struck down, pull up, struck left, pulled back, then struck right. He of course pulled back after that as well. His movements were quick and fluid and it happened in a matter of moments. Her ability to observe was definitely helping her here because the master was obviously showing her greater and greater techniques as they moved forward.

The first thing she wanted to master was the very first strike. It wasn’t the strike that seemed difficult, it was the fact that it looked like he held back. So imagining a head and his movements, it would seem he only cut halfway through instead of all the way through. Holding back would definitely not be easy for her, especially with her wanted to go all out and cut her opponents up.

She focused on her minds eye once more. She raised the katana over her head and quickly dropped it in a single swinging motion. In her minds eye she could see that she went too deep with the cut. So she went back to the standard stance. She did the same thing and raised the sword before bringing it down. Again, it was the same result. She was having trouble keeping her strength reserved for the strike.

She raised the sword higher than usual once more. She really focused on the weight of the blade this time. She also paid close attention to her it felt in her hands. All these factors would be necessary to swing down the blade properly. She slid her right foot forward this time, using it as a weight to prevent the sword from going full swing. She swung down and this time was able to catch it and stop it from going further.

That wasn’t the only thing he needed to be able to do. She also needed to pull the blade back up immediately. She needed this to be flawless, so she focused on the weight and her stance once more. She swung the blade down and when she tried to raise the sword back up quickly, she overshot and practically threw it into the air. She focused and tried it again, and this time she did manage to toss the sword, which happened to land on a nearby squirrel.

After wiping the blood off her blade, she went back into her stance. She swung down the blade and this time when she raised it, she held back. In her minds eye she could see that she didn’t raise it enough and it would have been stuck in someone’s head. She raised her sword over her head again and struck down, this time she quickly pulled out successfully. She was finally getting somewhere.

Now that she could do that, she focused on her swing again, proving to herself that her body was now used to it. Next thing she needed was to shift it to the next cut. So she focused, raising the sword and swatting downward. She raised it the same way she had. In the same motion, she moved the blade and struck toward the right (left side of someone’s head).

Continuing the motion, she shifted and struck left in the same attack. She successfully performed the technique. Only she didn’t use it completely correctly. This time when she did it, she didn’t raise her sword and did the technique with the same exact motions as her master. He nodded in approval.

Lightning release 1

A streak of lightning flashed across the sky. This caught her attention pretty well. She watched the multiple steaks of lighting and wanted to know how she could incorporate them into her attacks. She knew that lightning was capable of burning things, but it wasn’t fire. This made her wonder what lightning really was. She pondered what else caused burning.

There was a survival technique for starting a fire that required building up friction in order to create a source of heat. So she wondered if friction was enough to create lightening. She started rubbing her hands together. Lightening want forming, but her hands were definitely heating up. She continued to do so, trying to build up heat in order to create an electrical charge.

She also thought of static electricity and started rubbing her feet against carpet. She was able to shock a random villager who ran away in fear. She concentrated on creating that spark without the carpet and she could feel he static charge building in her. She then shocked someone else with her chakra replicating the friction. She felt this was what she needed to use lightening jutsu.
