Hearing the rustling of the leaves quite clearly, it seemed that he was not the only one to send it, nor the odd chakra signature radiating from it. The way he "saw" it with his eyes closed, the life energies of the animal this strange plant had bonded with were still there, if not just barely. From what he could sense, the chakra, or life energy radiating from the pumpkin head had spread throughout the body, actively draining the host of theirs in order to grow, just like a parasite. As he lowered his hand to reach for his Tanto, Loki sent out the boy in order to dispatch it, which he did with what was more than likely a lightning natured ninjutsu technique of some sort. Not being that well versed in the lightning style himself, he didn't really know which the boy used.
But as he did so, the head got smashed and the body dropped, revealing that the original head belonging to the animal had been completely devoured and replaced by the pumpkin thing. Just the thought of it being capable of doing this to both animals and people alike meant that there could potentially be a whole lot more of these things deeper in the marshes, depending on the amount of local wildlife that yet remained there. Learning a thing or two about the biology and inner workings of these strange plant things, it seemed that this was a contained incident for the time being as no more were around. Figuring that that would be the end of it, Shiki pointed out that when hunting things such as these, pointing at another one up ahead at a distance beyond his sensory range.
"Well, my first instinct would be to kill it, though my mind is telling me to size it up first. If this thing were a person, I would want to know what he or she would be capable of before going in blind. At this point, I just know a bit about how it functions and how it can hypnotize people, as well as plant seeds into a docile host body. So at this point, I'd say sizing it up is no longer needed as the basics are already clear. So… I guess corner and kill it?"
He had no idea whether he was correct in his assumptions or not, but the fact that they were out of earshot meant that they were more than likely capable of talking at a somewhat hushed tone without the pumpkin creature sensing their presence. Had that not been the case, he might have chosen not to answer Loki at that time, saving his response for a later and more safe point in time. But since they were more than likely going to be fine the way they were now, he thought about it for a moment before turning to the woman and answering her questions.
"Well uhm, I'm Hamura. I'm the son of no one, former cloud shinobi, current sand shinobi. I like learning stuff, either by reading or venturing into the world, and I like getting stronger and better at what I do… I think that about sums it up."
