Conditions

• Bleed
  
  • You take Bleed damage taken by the listed amount of Damage at the beginning of your turn.

  • Sometimes an attacker wants to incapacitate a foe, rather than deal a killing blow. When an attacker takes a target to "dead" in an attack, the attacker can instead knock the creature out. The attacker can make this choice the instant the damage is dealt. The creature falls unconscious and is stable.
  
  
  
• Weakened
  
  • Your attacks deal half damage. Ongoing damage you deal is not affected.

Symptoms

• Agitation: Those who exhibit signs of Agitation will be very angry, fidgety, nervously jumping at noises and unable to focus. -15 to all Skill checks, -2 Charisma.
  
  
• Albinism: The skin of the creature is deathly pale and the eyes are a pinkish hue. Creature suffers double damage from all Sun/Light effects or attacks.
  
  
• Anxiety: This symptom is noted as feelings of fear and apprehension, even in calm and safe situations. -5 Morale penalty to Attack Damage and -2 to Saves, -1 Charisma.
  
  
• Blindness: Use effects found in Conditions.
  
  
• Blister: A blister is local swelling of the skin that contains watery fluid. While basically harmless themselves, a multitude of oddly colored blisters are rather unsightly. -1 Charisma, +5 bonus to all First Aid/Medical Checks.
  
  
• Blurred Vision: It becomes difficult to focus on close and distant objects, giving the creature a blurry perspective. A creature with blurred vision, in addition to obvious effects, suffers a 20% miss chance in combat (half concealment), loses any Minor Defenses, suffers -1 penalty on Might and Agility skills and attackers gain +5 to Attack Damage.
  
  
• Body Aches: A Body Ache is a dull, steady pain that generally effects muscles and joints. This pain discourages movement, as the pain increases as the body becomes active. -1 Agility, -10 penalty on Might and Agility Skills.
  
  
• Chills: This symptom is a sensation of coldness, even in hot climates, accompanied by shivering. This is often a very good indication of certain illnesses or toxication. +10 to First Aid/Medical skills. -5 penalty to Agility Skills.
  
  
• Confusion: Use effects found in Conditions.
  
  
• Convulsions/Seizures: This symptom is an uncontrolled fit of involuntary muscular contraction that will randomly start and stop with little provocation. A Game Master rolls a 1d6 secretly to determine the amount of Convulsions/Seizures the creature will suffer within the span of the Poison's Duration, and can apply them at Game Master's Discretion. A creature suffering from Convulsions/Seizures is treated as Helpless.
  
  
• Cough: A cough is a sudden and noisy expulsion of air from the lungs to keep the respiratory passages free of irritating material. -25 penalty on any attempts to perform Skills and 25% chance to fail Techniques that require Stealth, Silence, or a Clear Voice, such as Stealth, or Intimidate. Verbal performing is not possible.
  
  
• Cramps: Cramps are a sudden involuntary, muscular contraction that cause sharp pain, often occurring in the leg or shoulder. A Game Master rolls a 1d10 secretly to determine the amount of cramps the creature will suffer within the spam of the poison's duration, and can apply them at a Game Master's Discretion. A cramp lasts 1d4 rounds and a creature suffering from Cramps is considered Checked for game purposes.
  
  
• Deafness: Use effects found in Conditions.
  
  
• Diarrhea: To put it bluntly, Diarrhea is excessive and frequent evacuation of watery crap. This can be horribly inconvenient to a person, to say the least. Game Masters roll a 1d4 secretly to determine the amount of "squirt-attacks" the creature will suffer within the span of the poison's Duration, and can apply them at the Game Master's Discretion. A creature suffering from an attack has 2d6 rounds to get his arse out of his trousers. A creature may simply ignore the attack of course, possibly at the expense of a pair of pants or good boots.
  
  
• Discoloration: This is an odd change in the color of the skin or other tissues. Does little to effect game play, but is a Good indication of certain illnesses or toxication. A +10 bonus to Healing/Medical skills.
  
  
• Difficulty Speaking: The creature has lost all or most of the ability to speak. Conversation and Verbal Jutsu performing are impossible, as are any Skill or techniques requiring a voice.
  
  
• Dizziness: Creatures suffering from this symptom have a whirling or spinning sensation in their mind and have a tendency to fall down. Lasts for the Duration and is treated as Staggered condition for Game Purposes. Additionally, the creature must make a Fortitude Save at -3 when attempting any task more difficult than walking or become Prone.
  
  
• Drooling: Drooling creatures have an excess of saliva running from the mouth. -10 penalty on any attempts to perform Skills or Techniques that require a clear voice, -1 Charisma, Verbal Jutsu performing is not possible.
  
  
• Drowsiness: A character who is drowsy is half-awake and inattentive, but otherwise able to act normally. A drowsy character takes a penalty on all Ability checks and Skill Checks, as well as on Saves.
  
  • Mild Drowsiness: -2 Ability Checks and Saves, -10 Skill checks.
    
  • Severe Drowsiness: -4 Ability Checks and Saves, -20 Skill checks. Has a 25% Chance to fail Jutsu. Must make a 10 Perception check or fall asleep for 1d10 minutes. Must make check every 30 minutes.
    
  • Extreme Drowsiness: -8 Ability Checks and Saves, -40 Skill checks. Has a 50% Chance to fail Jutsu. Must make a 10 Perception check or fall asleep for 1d10 minutes. Must make check every 1 minute.
  
  Drowsy is a less severe state of sleepiness than asleep. Multiple applications of the drowsy condition stack to create a more severe level of drowsiness: A mildly drowsy character who is made mildly drowsy again becomes moderately drowsy, a mildly drowsy character who is made moderately drowsy becomes severely drowsy, and a mildly drowsy character who becomes severely drowsy becomes asleep. A moderately drowsy character who is made moderately drowsy again becomes severely drowsy, and a moderately drowsy character who becomes severely drowsy becomes asleep. A severely drowsy character who becomes severely drowsy again becomes asleep.
  
  
• Euphoria: This symptom grants a feeling of great happiness or well-being to the affected creature, rarely making attacks, even when presented with very dangerous or hostile situations. A creature experiencing Euphoria is treated as Confused for game purposes, except that if attacked they will simply wander away in confusion, unless prevented.
  
  
• Fainting: Fainting is an abrupt the brief loss of consciousness. Game Masters roll a 1d4 secretly to determine the amount of Fainting spells the creature will suffer within the span of the poison's Duration, and can apply them at Game Master's Discretion. Each Fainting spell lasts 2d4+1 Rounds. For game purposes, the creature is Staggered the first Round, becoming Unconscious and falling, then rousing and becoming Prone the final Round.
  
  
• Fatigue: Use effects found in Conditions.
  
  
• Fever: The creature has abnormally high body temperature, even in freezing weather. Does little to effect game play, but is a good indication of certain illnesses or toxication. +10 bonus to all First Aid/Medical Skills.
  
  
• Flatulence: To put it bluntly, Flatulence is frequent and noisy expulsion of foul smelling intestinal gas through the anus. While this can be entertaining, ignored, or even respectable in limited company, it is generally a hindrance in most situations. -40 penalty on any attempts to perform Skills and 40% chance to fail Techniques that require stealth or silence during the duration, -2 Charisma (Optional).
  
  
• Frothing: A creature with this symptom has a foam of saliva churning from the mouth. Treat as Drooling for game purposes.
  
  
• Hair Loss: The creature has begun visibly losing random clumps of hair, fur, feathers, scales, etc. -3 Charisma.
  
  
• Hallucinations: A creature suffering from constant Hallucinations has the false perception of visual auditory, tactile, olfactory, or gustatory experiences that are seemingly real. Those experiencing Hallucinations can be treated as suffering from confusion, or can instead experience one of the following Hallucinations. Roll 1d6.
  
  • 1. Colors & Lights: The creature sees a twisting pattern of rainbow colored clouds and sparkle in the air. This pattern causes the creature to become fascinated and he/she gazes at the display as if hypnotized. Treat as the Rainbow Pattern Jutsu for game purposes.
    
  • 2. Glowing Auras: The creature sees bright auras of color around other creatures and objects. Treat as Dazzled for game purposes.
    
  • 3. Frightening Visions: The creature sees fearful images everywhere. They may see monsters, hordes of insects, ghosts, or the things they most fear. Treat as Frightened for game purposes.
    
  • 4. Self-Delusions: The creature believes that he is something else entirely. The creature may believe that he is a plant or another inanimate object, a monster, or another character or class and the Hallucinations will change to support the delusion.
    
  • 5. Whispering Voices: The creature hears paranoid voices that warn him of false enemies and tell him to do things. Treat as Shaken for game purposes.
    
  • 6. Roll Twice.
  
  
  
• Headache: The creature is suffering a localized pain in the head. -25 penalty on any attempts to perform Skills and 25% chance to fail Techniques that require mental concentration.
  
  
• Incoordination: Uncoordinated creatures lack normal control of muscular movement. -5 to Attack Damage, -2 to All Minor Defenses, -25 penalty on any perform Skills and 25% chance to fail Techniques that require coordination, -2 Agility. Missing Strikes open up for Opportunity of Attack from opponents engaged.
  
  
• Inflammation: Inflammation is characterized by light pain, redness, and minor swelling. Does little to effect Game play, but is a good indication of certain illnesses or toxication. +10 bonus to all First Aid/Medical checks.
  
  
• Intoxication: Intoxication rules can be found within the Alcohol Rules
  
  
• Irritation: This is a sensation of soreness or tenderness of the skin or other tissues. Does little to effect game play, but is a good indication of certain illnesses or toxication. +10 bonus to all First Aid/Medical checks.
  
  
• Itchiness: The creature has a constant itching sensation, making them restless, not able to relax or be still. -5 penalty on any attempts to perform Skills and 5% chance to fail Techniques that require mental concentration.
  
  
• Jaundice: Jaundice is a yellowish discoloration of the whites of the eyes and skin caused by deposits of bile salts. Does little to effect game play, but is a good indication of certain illnesses or toxication. +10 bonus to all First Aid/Medical checks.
  
  
• Labored Breathing: The creature is having difficulty breathing, loudly sucking at air with quick, forced breaths. -25 penalty on any attempt to perform Skills and 25% chance to fail Techniques that require Stealth, silence or a clear voice. Verbal Jutsu performing is not possible. Treat as Staggered for game purposes.
  
  
• Localized Pain: Localized Pain is a sharp and steady pain limited to a specified body part. Any creature suffering localized pain must make a Fortitude Save or be treated as Entangled for game purposes until the pain subsides.
  
  
• Memory Loss: Use effects found in Afflictions.
  
  
• Nausea/Vomiting: Use effects found in Conditions.
  
  
• Nosebleed: A cut has opened in the creatures nose and has begun to bleed. While rarely dangerous, bleeding from the nose can be unsettling. Treat creatures with a Nosebleed as Shaken for Game Purposes. A nosebleed is a good indication of certain illness or Toxication. +5 to all First Aid/Medical checks.
  
  
• Numbness: Numbness is the inability to feel physical sensations. A numbed creature has a -1 movement.
  
  
• Pain: Pain is a manifestation of physical suffering, usually caused by injury or illness. -10 penalty on any attempts to perform Skills and 10% chance to fail Techniques that require mental concentration.
  
  
• Rapid Pulse: The Creature has an abnormally fast heartbeat that can easily be felt by others through contact. Does little to effect game play, but is a good indication of certain illnesses or toxication. +5 bonus to all First Aid/Medical checks.
  
  
• Rash: The creature is suffering from a large ugly, patchy inflammation on the skin. Rashes are very uncomfortable and most are unsightly. Game Masters place the rash at Discretion, or roll on a random body part. -1 Charisma (if the rash can be seen).
  
  
• Red Skin: SEE: Discoloration.
  
  
• Sore Throat: The throat of the creature has become raw and inflamed, characterized by pain in swelling. Treat as Cough for game purposes.
  
  
• Sweating: A creature is sweating a great deal more than average, even in freezing weather. Does little to effect game play, but is a good indication of certain illness or toxication. +5 bonus to all First Aid/Medical checks.
  
  
• Swelling: The flesh in a particular area has formed a large , hard, painful lump. Does little to effect game play, but is a good indication of certain illnesses or toxication. +10 bonus to all First Aid/Medical checks.
  
  
• Thirst: The creature has an abnormally greater desire to drink. The creature must consume at least 8 oz of water each hour, or sustain 4 Armour Points of subdual damage.
  
  
• Vertigo: The creature's natural sense of balance has been totally negated. The creature suffers a -40 penalty to all Skills, -20 to Attack Damage, -5 to all Minor Defenses, and a -4 Agility. Movement is at 1/2. Once each Round, the creature should make a Will Save to avoid falling down or become Prone.
  
  
• Watery Eyes: The Creature's eyes have begun producing an overabundance of tears. Treat as Blurred Vision for game purposes.
  
  
• Weakness: Weak creatures have become feeble, being without much physical strength or vigor. Treat as Exhausted for Game Purposes.
  
  
• Wheezing: The creature can only breathe with difficulty, making a hoarse, loud rasping, or whistling sound with each breath. -40 penalty on any attempts to perform Skills and 40% chance to fail Techniques that require stealth, silence, or a clear voice. Verbal Jutsu performing is not possible. Treat as Staggered for game purposes.

Afflictions

• Anti-Coagulation: A victim of Anti-Coagulation finds that their wounds will refuse to stop bleeding. At the end of every round after being wounded, the Creature must make a Fortitude Save (-1 per 5 Armour Points of Damage). A success means that the bleeding was light and no damage taken this round. Failure means that bleeding is profuse enough to cause 1 Armour Point of damage this. A Critical Failure means that bleeding is so profuse it causes 3 Armour Points of Damage. A healing check with a Difficulty of +50 can stop the bleeding, otherwise the blood loss will continue for the Duration.
  
  
• Brain Damage: This is direct damage to the tissues of the brain. Even mild Brain Damage can be a serious thing to a creature.
  
  • Mild Brain Damage incurs a -1 Intelligence until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Brain Damage incurs a -2 Intelligence and -1 Perception, plus the creature suffers Memory Loss until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Severe Brain Damage incurs a -1d4+1 Intelligence and -2 Perception, plus the creature suffers Confusion until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Extreme Brain Damage incurs a -1d6+2 Intelligence and -1d4+1 Perception Damage, plus the creature suffers Vertigo until the damage can be healed.
  
  
  
• Coma: A creature suffering a Coma is in a state of deep, prolonged unconsciousness. But more than mere Sleep or Unconsciousness, the creature has become incapable of sensing or responding to any external stimulus or need. A Coma lasts for the duration of the poison, furthermore no outside force, apart from a minor Miracle, can rouse a Comatose creature until the duration has expired, even if the poison has been removed or any damage has been cured.
  
  
• Dehydration: The creature suffers an excessive loss of water from the body. Treat as Thirst Danger for Game purposes.
  
  
• Heart Damage: The heart is a muscular organ in most animals, which pumps blood through the blood vessels of the circulatory system. Blood provides the body with oxygen and nutrients, as well as assisting in the removal of metabolic wastes. In humans, the heart is located between the lungs, in the middle compartment of the chest.
  
  • Mild Heart Damage incurs a -20 to any Might skill check.
    
  • Heart Damage incurs -2 Effective Toughness damage and fatigues the target.
    
  • Severe Heart Damage incurs a -1d4+1 Effective Toughness bleed damage. A successful save reduces this to Fatigue and -1 Effective Toughness bleed damage. In either case, stopping the bleeding requires Chakra healing equal to the original blow, or a successful Extremely Difficult Difficulty First Aid: Healing check that takes 1d4 rounds to complete.
    
  • Extreme Heart Damage incurs a -1d6+1 Effective Toughness damage and -1d4+1 Effective Toughness bleed damage, and the creature is Exhausted.
  
  
  
• Insomnia: The creature suffers periods sleeplessness. Before bedding down, the creature must make a Fortitude Save. Success means a restless, but full night sleep. If the roll is failed, they lose a few hours of sleep that night, and will be treated as Drowsy until a full amount of rest can be had. More severe cases require Fortitude Save -5. Success means they only lose a few hours of sleep that night, and will be treated as Drowsy until a full amount of rest can be had. Failure means the creature gets no sleep, and is treated as Fatigued until a full amount of rest can be had.
  
  
• Kidney Damage: The Kidneys are a pair of organs that maintain proper water balance, and filter the blood of wastes. When these become damaged, a creature will have a decreased capacity against toxins in the blood, including those produced by the body.
  
  • Mild Kidney Damage incurs a -2 Toughness until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Kidney Damage incurs a -3 Toughness and -1 Might plus the creature is treated as Shaken until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Severe Kidney Damage incurs a -1d6+1 Toughness and -2 Might, plus the creature suffers Fatigue until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Extreme Kidney Damage incurs a -2d4+2 Toughness and -1d6+1 Might, plus the creature is treated as Disabled until the damage can be healed.
  
  
  
• Laryngitis: Laryngitis is a painful inflammation of the vocal cords. Any tasks that require voice are not possible until the damage has been healed or runs its course.
  
  
• Liver Damage: The Liver is the organ responsible for the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins extracted from food.
  
  • Mild Liver Damage incurs a -2 Toughness until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Liver Damage incurs a -2 Toughness, plus the creature is treated as Nauseated until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Severe Liver Damage incurs a -3 Toughness, plus the creature suffers both Fatigue and Nausea until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Extreme Liver Damage incurs a -4 Toughness and -1 Might, plus the creature is treated as both Nauseated and Exhausted until the damage can be healed.
  
  
  
• Lung Damage: The Lungs are respiratory organs that remove carbon dioxide from the blood and provide it with fresh oxygen.
  
  • A creature with Mild Lung Damage is treated as Entangled until the damage can be healed.
    
  • A creature with Lung Damage incurs a -1 Toughness, and is treated as Entangled until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Severe Lung Damage incurs a -2 Toughness, plus the creature suffers Fatigue until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Extreme Lung Damage incurs a -2 Toughness, plus the creature is treated as Exhausted until the damage can be healed.
  
  
  
• Nerve Damage: Nerves carry impulses to and from the brain and other parts of the body, such as the muscles.
  
  • Mild Nerve Damage incurs a -1 Agility until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Nerve Damage incurs a -2 Agility, plus the creature is treated as Shaken until the damage can be healed.
    
  • Severe Nerve Damage incurs a -4 Agility, plus the creature is treated as Entangled until the damage can be healed.

Critical Strikes

• IIC: If you miss an IIC, the attack or attacks performed on you during your opponent(s) turn automatically count as a Critical Strike.

Effect: A mania is an irrational obsession with a (usually inappropriate) particular object or situation, while a phobia is an irrational fear of a (usually commonplace) object or situation. Additionally, if a manic or phobic character is directly confronted by their obsession (requiring a "B" Rank weaving movement), target must make a Will save against the insanity or become fascinated (if manic) or frightened (if phobic) by the object for 1d6 rounds.

• Multiple Personality Disorder

  Effect: Target suffers from multiple personalities.

  Description: Save: Will 19. Onset: 2d6 days. Effect: -6 penalty to Will Saves, and -30 to Perception based Skill checks. This is a complicated disorder that manifests as 1 or more distinct and different personalities within the same body and mind. This is not to confuse with the Trait. The number of additional personalities the victim manifests equals the Save of the insanity divided by 10 (round down, minimum of 1 additional personality). Should the insanity worsen in some way (such as by the Save increasing), the number of additional personalities increases as well. Likewise, the number of additional personalities decreases as the sufferer recovers and the insanity’s Save decreases. A Game Master should develop these additional personalities. Every morning, and each time the afflicted character is rendered unconscious, the target must make a Will save against their insanity's Save. Failure indicates that a different personality takes over. A target's memories and skills remain unchanged, but the various personalities have no knowledge of each other and will deny, often violently, that these other personalities exist.

  Description: Save: Will 17. Onset: 2d6 days. Effect: -4 penalty on Will Saves and -20 to Charisma-based skills; cannot receive benefit from or attempt the Aid Another movement; cannot willingly accept Aid from another creature unless the target makes a Will Save against their Insanity Save. The paranoid character is convinced that the world and all that dwell within it are out to get them. Paranoid characters are typically argumentative or introverted.

  Description: Save: Will 20. Onset: 3d6 days. Effect: Character becomes Chaotic Evil; gains +50 Competence bonus on Acting checks to hide insanity. This complex insanity fills the victim with hate for the world. They may suppress their psychosis for a period of 1 day by making a Will save against the Save of his insanity, otherwise they cannot help but plot and plan the death and destruction of their friends and enemies alike.

  Effect: Target regularly becomes confused in stressful situations.

  Description: Save: Will 16. Onset: 1d6 days. Effect: -20 penalty on all Perception and Charisma-based skill checks. Chance of becoming confused. A schizophrenic character has lost their grip on reality, and can no longer tell the difference between what is real and what is not. These constant hallucinations cause the schizophrenic to appear erratic, chaotic, and unpredictable to others. Each time a schizophrenic character finds themselves in a stressful situation (such as combat) they must make a Will save against their insanity's Save. Failure indicates that the character becomes confused for 1d6 rounds.
