It was a normal summer day in Kaminari no Kuni. There were some rain clouds on the sky. Fortunately, the temperature showed a comfortable 75 degrees (24 degrees Celsius). The male took the map plus the compass out of his gear. It was time to find the fastest route.

He would wait for his partner before he showed him the map. "Our best choice is this road here. It's about two miles north-east from here. We should be in Enrai when the rain hits" informed the ANBU agent. He took a quick look at Kimimaru.

'Looks like he's roughly 14 years old. Not a very bulky kid either. He's more like that Kazeraikou ANBU captain I met on a meeting.
That kid may not be strong, but he probably got good stamina. I bet his reflexes are good thanks to his kekkei genkai too' observed the man.

"We'll stop for lunch once we reach the suburbs. A kid like you needs healthy food on a regular basis. Now, I DO NOT want you to push yourself too hard. Comparing yourself to a full-grown man is not fair. Furthermore, I need you to be in shape for the second part" stated the agent.

"Part two will take the longest. We need to take apart this thing to see what it's made out of. That's what lady Raikage wants us to do. Let's go" finished the male. He started to walk fast towards the main route once his partner was ready.

Kimi listens to the Anbu agent only half-heartedly. He knows he can keep up with him easily. But since the Agent wants to underestimate him that was Kimi will have some fun at the same time. He puts his hands together and makes the hand signs for the Futon: Eatama. Slowly a ball of wind emerges from his hand and then expands to the size of a ain't beach ball. At the same time, the wind starts to shift and spin as it takes on the color of a storm cloud as it takes on that color it seems to frost over and stay in that shape and color.

"Ready to go, I can keep up just fine." Says Kimo as he jumps onto the ball and quickly catches up to and slightly ahead of the agent.

His companion apparently had some moves up his sleeves. The boy made an air ball and jumped on it. "Ready to go! I can keep up just fine" told Kimimaru. A smile formed behind the porcelain mask.

"Let's go then!" stated the male. The duo kept up the speed until they reached the main route. Next, the ANBU agent checked the map.
"We're going this way" told the man. He started going north-east.

The shinobi checked their surroundings every so often. 'Better be safe than sorry' was especially true for medics. They kept going until they reached the suburban area. "Let's do a pit stop here" said the man. He sat down on a bench next to a cinema.

"May I ask you something? Are you going to the Chuunin exams?" inquired the frog agent. He took out an onigiri from his bag and ate it. The male remained silent while listening to the teenager. It had been a while since he worked with a Genin.

The man listened intently to the younger shinobi. 'He does not seem stupid. Or reckless' noticed the ANBU.
"I'm sure you get there. It's smarter to wait rather than run into trouble" replied the male.

He stood up a few minutes later. "You're in for a treat. Enrai is a great city" assured the man. He walked at a normal pace towards the entrance gates. The agent would enter once his partner got the green light.

Kimi nods toward the Anbu agent as they head toward the gate. He lets his Jutsu expire as they made their way toward the gate. Kimi looked around he had never been to this city before, his aunt and uncle wanted to bring him here but he was too focused. At least he will get to see it now, he will have to tell them about it when he gets back. My family wanted to bring me here for a day or two but I have always been too focused on missions and training. It's ironic that I come here for a mission instead of a day off." Kimi smiles but it is a clear half-hearted smile that one only gives when they are hiding.

"Sorry to hear that. You should come here before you take the exams. Having a holiday to look forward to usually makes you work harder. At least I do" told the man. They passed a medium-sized shrine that had a very nice old-fashioned clock tower next to it.

'Great. We should be there any moment now' thought the ANBU. He made sure to stay close to the boy.
Soon, they reached a district with numerous storage units. The male pulled out a note with some scribbles on it.

He checked their surroundings first. "Do you see anything?" inquired the agent. Right now, Kimimaru probably saw many things he could not. Maybe he heard things better as well. It was hard to tell for a non-doujutsu user.

"Keep an eye out while I open the unit" said the male. He started to turn the wheels on the lock. It was the kind that required a code. A small 'click' made the man grin. "We're in" muttered the ANBU.

Kimi was watching the clock with rapt attention. Or at least what would seem like it. He loved anything clockwork, all the gears, and the precision timing of everything was beautiful. But he would never let his passion for clockwork get in the way of his mission. With his eyes active he could see the three chakras and see better, with the training he could here and observe the smallest of details. So as he stood he directed his senses to their limits in search of anything out of place.

A clear 'CLACK!' broke the silence. The male checked the inside. All he saw were some crates and boxes. He immediately went over to a crate located in the back. "Close the door. I found it!" informed the ANBU.

He opened up the crate once the boy closed the door. The crate itself was four feet tall and five feet wide. Inside it was a rather advanced looking engine. "This was what Lady Raikage wanted us to take apart. I will do a quick check first. Do not touch it" stated the man.

He put on his gas mask plus the goggles. Next, the agent started to check the engine. 'I can tell this engine has not been used in years. It is still in great condition however. Storing it here probably contributed to that' observed the male.

"All right, I can't find anything suspicious. We need to turn off the power first. Do you have a jutsu that can do that? Or can your bloodlimit see any electric surges or metal?" inquired the ANBU. He stepped aside so his partner could get a better look.

Kimi closed the door and waiting for the agent to unlock the crate. He could feel all the electronic devices in the room through the use of his eyes. It seemed this was where storing all the devices and tech that we gained from the war a few years ago. The security was a bit lax but that wasn't out of the realm of possibility in a post-war era.

The Anbu pulled some kind of small engine our of the crate he had just unlocked. The Anbu checked the engine over for a few minutes before turning to Kimi and speaking to him. After he heard that he started walking over to get a better look at the engine itself. Mechanical devices were Kimi's specialty, after all, so he was feeling right at home here.

"I can disable the device so I can get a better look at it. Give me a minute, do you have any idea what this used to power?" Kimi asked as he started to search for a way to shut down the device. He also brought out his tool case which would allow him to interact with the engine.

The male took a second look at the machine. He saw a number of valves and pistons at the side. "I can disable the device so I can get a better look at it. Give me a minute. Do you have any idea what this used to power?" asked the boy.

He looked at the paper that Lady Raikage had given him. "Lady Raikage said the engine was on a fish boat. However, this engine has more cylinders than an average boat. This thing has six cylinders. Most boat engines I have seen usually has three or four" informed the man.

He started to inspect the gear. All of the metal was made to resist corrosion. 'That is odd. This kind of engine seems to be designed for a lot of humidity. However, maybe this was used to power a large boat' observed the ANBU.

With his drivers and wrenches, Kimi slowly and carefully broke the seal on the engine. His curiosity was definitely piped, he now had to know more about this engine. As he took it apart he made sure to place each piece by itself and properly labeled so he could put it back together if need be. "It should take me a few hours to get everything taken apart and figured out."

One's natural sight is also enhanced giving the capability of 4x zoom capabilities. Both shinobis viewed the engine with interest. It was unlike anything they had seen before. 'He got a toolbox with him? Glad to see he prepared himself' observed the man. "It should take me a few hours to get everything taken apart and figured out." informed the Genin.

"Take the time you need. I will take a look at the part here. Please ask me if you need any help or healing" replied the ANBU. He walked over to the opposite side of the engine. The boy was already removing some of the pieces.

'The engine looks fairly new. Or well preserved at least' observed the male. He started with the spark plugs. The central electrode had no deposit, yet slight discoloration. All of the electrodes were worn evenly.

His masked eyes moved to the fuel tank. 'Huh? What does the text say?' thought the frog agent. The battery in front of him was neon green with some writing on it. He moved closer to take a look at the writing.

'HVO only. Never heard of HVO. I wonder if there is anything left. Better check it' decided the man. He unscrew the tank as gently as possibly.

Only a few ounces of fuel was left in the tank. The ANBU took a sniff of it. 'Smells like...fried potatoes. That is odd. Better take this back to Kumogakure' concluded the male.

"How are you doing?" asked the shinobi. He stood up so he could get a better view of his partner. The man noticed that he had labeled all his parts. 'If he retires as a shinobi, he can become a scientist. Or something with mechanics' noticed the frog agent.

Look at this,” Kimi points to the engine a large circler device attached to the engine. “This appears to be some kind of turbine to increase the intake of air to the engine. While here along with the intake you can see chakra trying to gather there. So this means that this is hard to give the boat more power and speed.”


Kimi kept talking about the engine looking for that key feature that would tell him the kind of propulsion the boats would have used. Did they burn fuel and turn a propeller or did they draw in water and expel it out to move. Was this an inboard or outboard system, that would tell him if the craft was capable of underwater travel. All of this was important for Kimi being able to understand and unlock the uses of this engine for the village. With that Kimi only just paid attention to his surroundings as delved deeper into this engine.

"This appears to be some kind of turbine to increase the intake of air to the engine. While here along with the intake, you can see chakra trying to gather there. So this means that this is hard to give the boat more power and speed" told Kimimaru. The man bent down to take a closer look at the engine part. He did not touch it in case something happened.

'I wonder why the engine requires chakra to move. Such a big engine would probably deplete an average Jounin of chakra. Especially considering all the cylinders' observed the ANBU. He picked up the part and walked to the left side. This would give him a better view of the engine.

'A boat engine should have some sort of propulsion. Or at least a pro-'. His eyes spotted something very familiar at the left end. It looked like a propeller blade. The male grinned as he bent down on his knees.

A pair of propellers were stacked onto each other under the engine. The front propeller sported neon orange lines. "Hey, I found the propellers! Can you please take a look? These orange lines looks quite suspicious" told the frog agent.

Kimi barely looked up before he was taking the propellers from the Anbu. He observed it as he turned it so he could see the different angles. “Interesting this is made out of areoglass, it would pass through the water faster than a normal propeller. These orange lines are like waterproofing for something, let me see.” Kimi made a few handseals and created a very thing and small water knife, he then used it to pry up one if the lines.“I think that there is some kind of chakra absorbing qualities to this Orange sealant.”

Kimi knew it was probably odd that a kid of fifteen could know these things. But for him, this was his only escape as a child. Something that he could do with his mom seeing or hearing, her lightning-filled wraith was worse when he was doing something good. If he failed she didn’t use her lightning just beat him. So he dived into books and small projects he could hide from her, his father knew and helped him as best he could. But until Kimi awoke his father couldn’t or wouldn’t do anything about it.

“Oh wow look at this,” What could be seen where two gems socketed into the propeller. “I think these are gems. The kind alchemists use and create. I am not the best at spotting these but isn’t that the gem for giving out the haste ability and that one for invisibility?”

"I think that there is some kind of chakra absorbing qualities to this orange sealant" informed Kimimaru. "Let me have a look at the smaller one. Maybe I can use my chakra scalpel or something" suggested the ANBU. He noticed that the smaller version sported the same orange lines.

Next, the man did some handseals. A soft green glow started to form around his left hand. 'Let's see what happens when these blades make contact' mused the agent. He moved his left hand slowly towards the blade. Suddenly, something odd happened.

The orange lines started to glow when the chakra made contact with it. Furthermore, the scalpel did not leave a dent in the metal. This discovery made the male concerned. He did not mind chakra being used for protection or healing. Fuel machines was a different story however.

"Oh wow look at this! I think these are gems. The kind alchemists use and create. I am not the best at spotting these. But isn’t that the gem for giving out the haste ability and that one for invisibility?" suggested the boy.

Masked eyes studied the gems socketed into the propeller. He had seen those gems somewhere before. Probably at a museum or in a book. "I think we should let some experts check those. Especially since I noticed something...eerie" informed the frog agent.

He would pick up the smaller propeller so the Genin could see it. The man would send some more chakra to his left hand. "Look how the lines respond to my chakra scalpel" told the ANBU. Next, his left hand touched an orange line. All the orange lines started to glow.

His scalpel blade however, did not glow as much. "This orange line is eating my chakra. It's almost like feeding breast milk to a baby. I am NOT comfortable with this. We better pack these down in separate boxes" stated the male.

I am good with the mechanical not the biological or chemical.” Kimi said as he looked toward the container of Fuel. “For what makes up that sealant I also don’t know. Again an Alchemist will be needed for that. But I agree that we should store fuel and propellers in different boxes.”

‘I wish I could get my hands on the haul of this boat.’ Kimi thought to himself. ‘I would love to figure out their manufacturing technics. The engine was a marvel of marginal design with it’s materials. Not many would think to use these as anything other than weapons or armor. Kimi had ideas but he never had the chance to experiment with those kinds of materials yet.

“Is there anything else for the mission? I have no problem staying here long enough to go through everything here.” Kimi smiled as he thought about barricading himself in here to learn all these secrets. He knew that the village would not let him stay here for an extended period of time.

"Is there anything else for the mission? I have no problem staying here long enough to go through everything here." inquired the boy. "Could you please help me with the packing? We need to label the pieces for starters. Here is some sticker and a marker" told the man.

He handed both items to the Genin. "I will label the parts over there. I can heal myself after all. Let me know if you get hurt by the way" stated the ANBU. He went over to the propellers and started to label them.

The sepia brown eyes behind the mask studied the teenager. Something about him made him concerned. Physically, he seemed fine. 'Maybe he's been objected to something scary. Or witnessed something' thought the male. He decided to keep an eye on the boy.

Kimi just smiled at the Anbu as he gestured to the already labeled parts. He had made sure to label everything as he took it apart. It was one of his quirks to be highly organized and as efficient as possible, this was one of those times he shined. He picked up each item and moved to secure it in special packaging that was in the storage building.

Once it was all secured in the packaging he then started to move each piece of the engine into the crates. He was being careful not to damage anything or cause it to react in any way to it being handled. Kimi hoped that they would let him have more hands-on time with these items. He still had much to learn and he needed to know about the boat this came from.

Those things would give him a better idea of the manufacturing process. Every little detail mattered when it came to reverse engineering these types of items. If he assumed something about how it was made it could end disastrously. He would hate for all that work to go to waste and especially to harm the village in any way.
