The Man Himself

History:

    Twenty-three years ago in Sunagakure, a short lived romance blossomed between a traveling armor smith and a local flower vender. This smith was quite renowned owing in no small part to traces of Dvergar blood and an extreme greed for gold and silver. His pride in his work, his overall lack of empathy, and his disdain for what he referred to as the “lack of culture” in the Land of Wind led to him leaving the mother three months before the birth of their child. In a poor district of Sunagakure, on the first of June during a magnificent sand storm, the child who would become Albert Thimble was born.

    He took his mother’s family name and was raised in common by her and his grandparents in a poor district. As a child he was often preoccupied with thoughts of his father, imagining him as a heroic shinobi who had been killed in action before his birth; his mother reported this to him, and his grandparents went along with the story with strong misgivings. Albert reveled in playing at heroics. He had a large imagination and even larger dreams for his future as any poor child does.

    At the age for eight his mother took a new partner whom Albert took a long time in warming up to, feeling that it would be a crime against his allegedly deceased father to accept any father figure. Small father-son activities, catching sand crickets and hunting crawfish in shallow salty water eventually led to the fading of his lost fathers memory and the acceptance of his new father. Because of their poor surroundings and his parent’s desire to keep their son safe, they persuaded him to not enter the academy until a later age. Instead he spent his time studying shinobi philosophy and assisting in the cultivation of flowers. He slowly developed a strong sense of duty to his village. It was at this time that his adoptive father began teaching him the arts of swordsmanship (specifically Buredono Kenseijin), elemental ninjutsu (specifically Katon), and the basic arts of his father’s clan Kasuta.

    Finally completing his studies at the academy at the age of fifteen, Albert was positive and strong-willed. It was at this time that his grandparents, against his mother’s wishes, told him the truth about his abandonment by his father many years ago. This came as a fairly traumatic shock, made much worse by the emotional fragility inherent in adolescence, and caused Albert a crises of faith and conscience. His training and his studies fell to the wayside and he wasted his time in idle amusements and alcohol; even his strong sense of justice and faith in the village faded and he completely abandoned his duties as a genin.

    Over time his thoughts of his father faded, and he simply felt shamed by his unproductive existence. He distanced himself from this family for years until a package and letter arrived from the Land of Waves addressed to his mother. This letter was from Albert’s biological father, expressing his own shame in abandonment and telling of a life journey that had brought him to such a conclusion. The package was a rather large (by their standards) inheritance in lieu of an appearance by Albert’s father, who said that he had no business entering the young man’s life so late. This event only served to make Albert bitterer and increased his harsh judgments of the unproductive sectors of society, but it also served as the catalyst of Albert’s re-entry into the path of the shinobi. As he moved forward in life, Albert often moved between shame for his own actions and anger at society at large. He hoped that by attempting to model honor in his own actions he could eventually feel pride and contentment despite his flaws.

Appearance:

    This young man is somewhat short but lithe, with a slender lower body frame and slightly wide shoulders for his height. Standing five-foot seven-inches and weighing one hundred and sixty-five pounds, his taijutsu prowess comes more from precision and control than from brute strength. When without clothing his extremely defined musculature stands out with sharp lines. Slightly weathered by the sun and strong winds of his homeland, his skin is taut, tan, and rough to the touch with calluses. Across his chest, with a diameter of six inches and centered on his solar plexus, spreads a bright teal green tattoo of a tree of life: evenly-spaced and overlapping circles arranged as a flower with hexagonal edges, six circles wide (each being an inch in diameter) with the center of each circle lying on the circumferences of the surrounding circles.

    His face is wide, with strong eyebrows and slightly effeminate eyelashes. His jaw is wide-set and his mouth is fairly small. Both his eyes and his hair are a dark, murky brown; the eyes have small hints of green upon closer inspection. The most noticeable physical features of his face are not the lines but the movement of the lines; his eyebrows, forehead, and lips are extremely expressive. Often his facial gestures look extremely expressive, which is at odds with his reserved personality. When he is angry, confused, or laughing the features of his face move wildly, almost over-emotively. His hair is short (between one and two inches) and usually parted along the right side directly above the outer edge of the eyebrow. There is a small beauty mark below the left eye, narrow ears, and a slightly large but straight nose. For facial hair he has a short cropped goatee and detached mustache; the goatee is as wide as his mouth and slightly longer than the mustache.

    At leisure within the village, he wears a simple short-sleeve t-shirt with a pocket on the left breast paired with blue jeans. The shirt appears in a variety of colors, but most often black, gray, olive, maroon, and robin egg blue. On colder days he has a black long-sleeve jacket with a teal circle on the left breast and on the back. When traveling he uses a plain gray cloak. He has a black leather belt and usually has his shinobi headband looped through his belt and hanging from his right hip. When travelling or working he adds his sword on his right hip, a butt pouch on his left hip hanging above the buttocks, and three quick loader pouches arrayed on the front of his waist from his belt. On special occasions, dates, and ceremonies he usually has special outfits, of which there are many.

Personality:

    Philosophy: Albert often vacillates between positive and negative viewpoints on the world and his own role in it. Most often he feels hopeless in his potential to have any meaningful impact on the world around him. The world around him is rotting, drowned in debauchery; this is heavily influenced by his rose-tinted view of the past through his readings of shinobi history. He finds himself constantly looking for positive traits in the people around him in regards to honor and duty, though he himself is often lacking in these traits. When feeling positive Albert revels in his own role within the societal hierarchy and attempts to portray nobility and wisdom, often failing.

    Alignment (Lawful Neutral): The lawful part of Albert’s alighnment is simple to explain: adherence to the law of his village and country, only deviating when it’s integral to his mission or to protecting his own personal interests. As for the neutral portion of his alignment, he has difficulty coming to an answer on whether or not life has any objective value. This is more of an existential problem for him, as he has no taste for killing or violence in general; he would have little trouble hearing of or watching people die, but wouldn’t himself kill without good reason. He values life that has utility (workers, dreamers, and parents) or innocence (children and the mentally destitute), but has an enormous disgust for any life that he believes to be squandered in drunkenness, laziness, or evil actions. He has trouble deciding if he’s contradictory to wish evil upon evil people and good upon good people.

    When it comes to interactions, Albert tends to have a thick shell that others have to break through to find warmth and camaraderie. He generally maintains an awkward silence, but can be quite funny with those he’s comfortable with. When working he is steadfast, dependable, and quick to action, but carefully observes the chain of command and often seeks consensus with his peers. He is quite tactical and observant in missions, but also extremely nervous. He recognizes his own capabilities quite well but often underestimates his peers while overestimating his enemies. He is quick to internalize his anger for other people, and can keep a grudge for a long time and over minor slights. In short, he over thinks and it often causes his relationships to develop slowly, especially with women and men near his own age (he is much more open with children and those above the age of thirty for some reason).

    His interests relate mostly to his focus on self-improvement: reading self-help books, histories of the nations and great individuals, and research related to politics and economics. There are a great many physical hobbies he would like to pursue (musicianship, crafting, learning of various domestic trades) but he often finds himself lethargic in his pursuit, more of a planner than a dreamer. Reading and training are the only hobbies he seems able to maintain, being so habitual for him. Despite his own self-righteousness and high morals, he often finds himself falling into drunkenness and has a habit of chain smoking as that seems to allow him to be more open with his peer group.

Knees are bent, body straight but lowered to protect the stomach area. The legs move as the user bobs and weaves never staying in place.

After the punch, quickly turn the fist to the starting position. Use the punch as often as possible, to disturb the opponent's timing.   Description: Seigan no Kamae, Chudan no Kamae The Seigan and Chudan no Kamae are similar in every aspect when it comes to looking at the opponent, having their feet placed down upon the floor, as well as the amount of pressure they have between both of their legs. The user keeps their right or left foot forward having their toes pointing forwards. Their opposite foot is shaped in an "L" shaped keeping their legs in equal motion. Their feet are perpendicular from one another as face forward their feet and legs are in shoulder width apart. This is used as a basic formation to where the user can move from either defensive, or defensive movements. For the Seigan no Kamae stance has their hands relaxed, grasped against the handle of the blade in question. The sword is pointing in a forty five degree angle as their arms are relaxed, hands close towards his hips as one would wait and relax. For the Chudan no Kamae the user keeps the same foot work as that of Seigan but their hands is brought up towards chest level as the sword that they hold is slightly more gripped proof. The sword is pointed forward as the blade is pointed down towards the ground. These stances are mostly known for parrying and blocking, as well as making quick attacks upon the opponent.

• Tenchi Hasso no Kamae and Fudo no Kamae (5 TP)

  Description: Tenchi Hasso no Kamae , Fudo no Kamae , The Tenchi Hasso and Fudo no Kamae are similar to that of closely towards that of Seigan and Chudan no Kamae to where the footing is quite similar. The user keeps their right or left foot forward having their toes pointing forwards. Their opposite foot is shaped in an "L" shaped keeping their legs in equal motion. Their feet are perpendicular from one another as face forward their feet and legs are in shoulder width apart. With the Tenchi Hasso no Kamae the user holds the sword more closely towards their sides. The body is slightly slanted a little more as the user holds the sword tightly. This is mostly used for a defensive form of the stance as the user keeps the sword pointing upwards. For Fudo no Kamae the user uses this stance in more of an offensive form. The user would face the opponent as their arms are raised up holding the hilt of the blade. The sword is slanted in a diagonal form but the user keeps this stance and holds it tightly. This stance is mostly used for attacks that deal with downward strikes, but as well as the type of movements for confusing the enemy with sliding attacks.

  Description: Kasumigakure no Kamae , A stance that is completely different than that of all the others. The footing is different than any other stance, the posture is completely different as well. The user will start in the basic form where one leg would be further forward from the body of the user while the other leg would be along the back of the body. The user would turn sideways by keeping this same form, and slide the back leg further backwards. As the user does this the user takes the time to raise his arms up in a defensive manner as the blade of the sword is pointing upwards. The sword is slightly higher than that of the user's head as they hold one arm along the front end of the hilt, and the other hand holding the back end of the hilt.

  Description: Muso no Kamae , Uranami no Kamae , Roppo Kuji no Kamae , Dato no Kamae , This stance is four in one. Each one is slightly different in some sort of way, but the legging position, the position where their balance will stay pure will always be the exact same. What is used within this stance is for mostly attack style forms. Each stance is different in its own way as each is same in every way as well. The feet for all four stances are the same. The user's left leg, or right leg will be forward and the knee would be bent in almost a ninety degree form. The back leg will be placed far back, about a foot or two past the shoulder along the upper body. For Muso no Kamae their hands are upwards holding their sword as the forward arm that is the same as the leg as it is holding the end of the sword. The user holds the front end of the sword with the other arm. The sword is then pointing towards the back of the body as the blade is pointing upwards. The sword is rested gently against the bicep of the back arm as the user holds the sword carefully. For Uranami the user keeps the sword along their chest area as it is pointing backwards of the body. The sword is pointing downwards slightly as the upper body is slanted forward. The Roppo Kuji holds the sword the same way as the sword is more slanted almost touching the ground. The sword is pointing backwards as well, and the user keeps the blade downwards. The final position is the Dato no Kamae is slightly more different than that of the others. What occurs is that the user holds the sword up high in the air with the back arm as the arm is held straight backwards away from the body. The forward arm is shot forward in a straight form, as the user keeps this position having their leg and upper body in a straight form in a diagonal form.

Grabbing the handle of the sword near the Tsuba, the user thereafter steps forward with the front leg while unsheathing the blade in a horizontal attacking motion across the body. So swift is this technique that it is akin to a "flash", taking no movements to perform. However, the concentration of such a quick strike is evident; upon sheathing the sword, the user must sacrifice a movement to do so. This technique may be performed with a knockback attack, knocking an opponent into the distance of 10 meters into a prone position.
