The Issue: Simple question, the armiger's guard meter does it benefit from a characters damage reduction/resistances etc. that do not come as a result of armiger techniques/the shield itself?
There are far to many techniques to provide an
exhaustive list but here are some basic examples.
Elemental Resistance
Rank: "D", "C", "B", "A"
Skill: Fūinjutsu
Effect: A seal applied to a ring giving the wielder the ability to absorb and resist an elemental damage.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Equipment Type:Neck, Ring. Minor Enchantment Seal: Power 1/Day, as a Move Movement. User gains 5 Resistance to Acid, Cold, Electricity, Fire, and Sonic. (Choose 1 when creating the Seal. Absorbs up to 50 Armour Points of Damage. Superior Enchantment Seal: Gain Resistance 10; Absorbs up to 100 Armour Points. Greater Enchantment Seal: Gain Resistance 15; Absorbs up to 150 Armour Points. Epic Enchantment Seal: Gain Resistance 20; Absorbs up to 200 Armour Points.

Description: Internal - Takes up 2 Augmentation Points. User gains resistance 5 Armour points to 2 types of energy or resistance 10 Armour Points to 1 type of energy, chosen from the following list. Acid, Ice, Electricity, Fire, or Sonic.
Limit: Must be a Ritualist for Augmentation Rituals.
Cost: Market Price: 23,000 Ryo Performing Price: 17,000 Ryo
Ice Walker
Rank: "C"
Skill: Heritage Trait
Effect: Due to the years roaming the frozen tundra of the frigid north, the user's resistance to the cold becomes apparent.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: You spent years roaming the frozen tundra of the frigid north, and have adapted to its numbing effects. You gain a 10 Energy Resistance to Cold Damage. This does not pertain to piercing, or slashing damage. You may ignore movement penalties for cold and can move normally. This trait replaces 1 Freebies.
Limit: Must start with Character; replaces 1 Freebies.
Second question, if you had the following on a shield and on armour. If the acid overcame your shield would a further 30 be adsorbed by the armour?

Skill: Supplementary
Effect: User can apply the ability to armour or shield to absorb more Acid Damage.
Special: ---

Description: Equipment Type: Armour, Body, Chest, Shield. As Acid Resistance, except it absorbs the first 30 Armour Points of Acid Damage per Attack. +660,000 Ryo to Crafting Time.
