Surrounding Area: Sekitan Mountain is a broad series of individual mountains that connect, consisting of numerous valleys, caves, waterways, a craggy passes that are near impossible to navigate by any other than seasoned professionals; or those that live in the country. Every mountain range crests either just below the clouds or higher, most of the peaks frozen all year around, and tend to be a type of bragging right for those that try to climb to the frigid summits at the risk of life and limb. Deep snow and cutting blizzards dot most of the mountains at any time during the year, removing tracks almost as soon as they form, but not in some of the valleys it is said. Hot springs and heat from the dormant volcanos create a temperate climate in a few of the valleys, making them well worth the trip for those that cannot make it to Yu no Kuni.
Path to the Old Tower: Upon exiting the thick fog that does not seem to stop the sunlight from reaching the floor of the valley, a temple would appear before the travelers, off to the left upon a rise of earth and stone. Indigenous mountain plant life can be seen to either side of the path, also along the rocks and mountainsides in the distance from this very path. There is no way up to the temple from the path however, instead a sharp right brings travelers to a covered bridge and their first glimpse at the enormous home of Sekitan. Crossing the bridge brings one into the Training Square and Meeting Area of those not allowed within the walls.
The Square: To the left of the Square is an outpost tower, close and upon a rocky outcrop, the path hidden away by trees and brush growing outside of the Square, which can spot anyone coming up the path long before they reach the Old Tower. A structure can be seen to the upper right through the trees as well, serving as the outer guard barracks in older times, where AnBu and Guard alike would sleep and eat. It only contains guards now, as Sekitan is no longer the Kage. Wide stone steps lead up to the Old Tower’s outer wall and gate, ending at a rectangular platform just before it, wide enough to hold at least twenty people comfortably. Two guard towers stand to either side of the gate, allowing for arrows, spears, bombs or any other number of projectiles and jutsu to be thrown down on those below, should they be unwelcome. The gate itself is made of thick heavy wooden doors within a house-like frame, requiring the strength of three men or a single Taimaster to open, if one does not know the mechanism. A slide and spin octagon block puzzle of lines to form the sigil of Yukigakure in a square will open the door automatically.
Outer Wall: Another series of steps takes one to the outer wall of the structure, although these are much narrower, allowing only three to climb them shoulder to shoulder, stopping before another gate that mirrors the first; save the symbol needed here is that of Kusa. Another guard tower on the wall to the right can be seen, further away, with a second further still. These are not to stop intruders at the second gate, but those that attempt to climb without using the doorways. The wall itself is massive and made of thick stone, climbing like steps to the left to match the rise of the mountain rock itself. Lining the wall are structures for the inner guards and their families to make their homes. Another Outpost Tower resides at the left corner of the wall, able to see for miles around the front and left side of the Old Tower. Similar Outpost towers are on ever corner of the outer wall, with guard towers on dotting between them. A powerful waterfall can be seen rushing down from the mountains behind the tower into the valley below as well, the very waterfall that falls on the path out of the mountain.
Sekitan’s Home: Sekitan’s home itself is not overly large, as one passes through the old tower itself, through the many chambers and rooms seen down the halls along the passage, they exit the archway that has no door. This archway leads from the first floor into a grove of Blue Moon Wisteria and cherry blossom trees, a single stone path leading through to open to a stone plaza which contains a single one story home built in the traditional Edo style; walls of wood and doors of paper and wood. There are five rooms within that are living quarters, with a single large room that acts as a conference room for those closest to Sekitan, those few that have his trust and confidence. A hidden path within the grove exists, opened only by a drop of Sekitan’s blood, or that of his blood family, which leads down beneath his home to his own personal space. After traveling down an extensive flight of winding stairs, one walks down a short path to a door requiring another drop of blood, this opens to a hallway that leads to a door, which can be opened normally to allow entrance into Sekitan’s private quarters.
