Character Depth
Personality
As a child, Shoko's most significant trait had to be being a bookworm. Socially inept and naturally reclusive, Shoko preferred holing himself up in a little abode and reading whatever he could find his hands on to anything else. He often wished to fit in with the other kids many times, but his only shot at doing so was to follow others blindly (as he severely lacked charisma). Eventually, Shoko got bored of it and decided his time would be better spent on his own.
Shoko was highly curious about the world, and satisfied that curiosity by reading. It's lead to him having a sharper mind than most his age, with him feeling more comfortable talking to adults than his age-mates. Shoko is quiet yet confrontational when he needs to be, not sparing anyone but his superiors the rough edge of his tongue.
After graduating from the academy at a very young age, the shinobi desperately tried to fill the void in his heart caused by the disappearance of his uncle(his only guardian at that time) and tried to pick up a sense of patriotism towards his country and village. However, Shoko soon became apathetic, quickly realising that his then village Kumogakure, cared little for him and he was just another drop in the puddle of disposable tools. For that period of time, he was severely lacking drive and only did what he was told, nothing more, nothing less.
Shoko has changed drastically over the last couple of years. He's been to different places, met new people and seen an all manner of things. As a result, his personality has slightly reworked itself as a result of so many new experiences both good and bad. Without hesitation, he tries to take control of every bad situation he finds himself in and never regrets his actions or victimises himself. His mindset therefore leans more to the evil side of the spectrum, as he will puts his life before others, even his own village. Being taught to kill and steal at a young age has made it easy for him utilise those tools in order to benefit himself.
He's stopped caring about how others think of him, especially his superiors. Now he's only interested in getting the job done and honing his abilities. He's recklessly uncaring about others and their problems, especially if it has nothing to do with him. Yet at the same time, he is not driven by greed and is actually quite un-materialistic, looking down on superficial things and constantly looking to how he can improve himself. The boy's level of determination when carrying out a difficult mission can only be matched by his level of remorselessness when it comes to his actions be them good or bad.
Appearance
As a genin in Kumogakure, Shoko liked in dress in a manner that was heavily indicative of his shinobi status. Dark cloaks were his go-to, even in broad daylight. It was more than about simply looking professional, Shoko just loved the aura of mysteriousness that came with them. It was symbolic of the type of shinobi he strove to be. Long dark trousers and combat boots would accompany the cloak, as he never really liked wearing sandals and thought he would look cooler in boots. The genin often wore his head-protector right on his scarf that was neatly tied around his lower face covering his mouth, instead of a conventional headband. It was unique fashion statement that the boy enjoyed for a long while.
With this attire, whether he was on a mission or not, Shoko would never be found without his assortment of pouches and wearable containers. Assault packs, patrol packs, and medical packs filled with weapons, gadgets, medical supplies, utilities and the lot of them. Shoko at this time was still under the impression that good equipment made for a good shinobi, and so dedicated his time and paychecks to amassing an arsenal of items that could make him versatile in any situation.
However, Shoko's sense of fashion has changed a lot since his Kumogakure days. Nowadays he can be found basking shirtless in the hot desert sun, sporting baggy khaki shorts and sandals. The boy had inevitably matured after many experiences and stopped caring about what he wore and carried so much, opting to focus more on who he was and his own abilities. He also sometimes wears a pair of three-quarters brown pants that are worn and old-looking, and he alternates between wearing them and khaki-coloured shorts. Due to his unique physical condition, Shoko tries his best to refrain from wearing anything on his upper body, using a cloak or a poncho on select formal occasions where he feels the need to cover up.
His multiple arms are occasionally clad in light brown gloves which the shinobi chooses to put on when the situation demands for it (such as infiltration missions where he cannot afford to leave fingerprints behind).
Shoko's hair has also changed a lot over the years. The blonde hair that used to be short and spiky, is now long and woven into many elaborate braids. His golden braids are however more for functionality than fashion. Sometimes the boy would be on missions for months on end in remote areas with no way to take care of his hair. So instead of letting it turn into a mullet, Shoko opted to braid his long hair and tie it at the back of his head in a short ponytail.
Shoko's exotic bronze skin has darkened to an extent due to the many years of him living in the Land of Wind and its harsh deserts and scorching heat. The boy has also managed to put on quite a bit of muscle over the years due to him taking up thousands of hours of taijutsu training after coming to Sunagakure and now has an incredibly toned body for a young teenager. Looking at his stature, Shoko has grown several inches over the last four years and now stands at an impressive 6 feet for a 14 year old. His face has matured also, with his jawline now sharper and his cheekbones more prominent.
Shoko's eyes however are still the same shade hazel brown they have always been. One must look at them under the right lightning to see the vibrant hazel colour that glistens radiantly.
Background
Shoko is a shinobi. Just another product of the system that raises effective child soldiers. As an orphan, the young boy living in Kumogakure didn't have many choices, and serving his country and village sounded only slightly better than working in the fields to him. The young boy wasn't good enough to become noticed during his days in the academy, yet at the same time he wasn't naturally incompetent enough to drop out of the program. He graduated and became a cloud ninja.
As an orphan, the child lived with his only surviving family member: his uncle. His parents had died when he was far too young to remember, so his single uncle was his only family member for most of his life. However, it was about the time Shoko graduated from shinobi academy in Kumogakure and finally became a genin, his uncle mysteriously disappeared. It was a hard time for the young boy, but as a licensed shinobi he didn't have time to grieve and had to busy himself with missions and assignments. This would deteriorate the boy's attitude towards his village over time, leading him to become more and more discontent and even wondering what his purpose was in life.
Shoko would eventually abandon his village, becoming a missing ninja, yet at the same time, taking refuge in Sunagakure where the jounin commander offered him a job as a shinobi of his country. Shoko accepted, feeling elated at being able to really make a choice for himself at once. Shoko discarded his previous identity and dedicated the next couple years of his life to serving a cause in which he actually believed in, among people who shared similar ideals and didn't look down on him. It was hard at first, adapting to the new environment but Sunagakure was a village with a reputation for hiring new shinobi from outside their lands, so Shoko faced very little discrimination and was never ostracised during his time in Sunagakure.
It would be in Sunagakure that the boy would continue to hone his abilities as an assassin, thief, bodyguard and ultimately a ninja. Meeting a vast myriad of people on his journey and discovering new jutsu, clans and secrets that were hidden in the land. For the next couple of years, the young ninja integrated into the Land of Wind's culture, rose up in rank as a shinobi, and even began to travel outside on dangerous missions.
Shoko travelled to different places for his assignments, discovering and subjugating threats when needed and forging acquaintances with powerful individuals. The knowledge he picked up on his journeys turned him into a shinobi with a unique skillset. His abilities he mostly kept to himself, many of them being forbidden jutsu or clan jutsu that he could be assassinated for having knowledge of. The boy's modus operandi was to get the job done was quick as possible, then slip into the shadows just as fast. It was the principle he abode by that saved his life many times against malevolent supernatural entities and hostile shinobi.
