AIA FUJIWARA
Aia, as a person, isn't much of a talker. Not only that, but with her default mien she can be so stony as to stop others from feeling comfortable being talkers either. The stray moronic thought is less likely to be returned by the woman with mild social graces than an unsparing look. Though, if for good reason, the woman can retreat to a merely weary, even tender - if condescending - demeanor. Aia rarely feels remorse, and is loathe to show it if ever she does. She may apologize for diplomatic reasons, but getting her to part with a sincere apology would be an extraordinary feat. Further than a general resentment towards any feelings of guilt, the girl is capable of temporarily suspending her empathy if need be, perhaps all too easily. A human being can easily become an object in her perception, if the circumstance permits - or desire demands. Since a young age Aia has had a sadistic streak, a thirst for power and control. Just to exert her will upon the world in violent ways is occasionally merely satisfying for the horror it gleans. With that having been said, Aia is not exactly a creature of malice, looking upon her more hedonistic desires as a product of immaturity. There are more holistic ways to assert your will over the world than antagonizing others, she reckons. Of course, every time she sees her gaping, eyeless socket in her reflection a certain bitterness gets rekindled. Some of Aia's days are stormier than others. Though she projects confidence in most situations, Aia does have insecurities to hide. She is not an overly sexual character and is thus easily flustered; being rather prideful, she can easily grow angry, at least if you manage to get her to take you at all seriously. | 5'8" 57kg 26yrs female hi no kuni chuunin konoha lawful, evil medic[spec] tai[spec] nin, clan[non] |

She is blessed to have incurred no notable scars on her person in her twenty-something years of life, and nor has she taken on any tattoos. Her skin tone is naturally pale, though perhaps not pallid, and often has the kiss of the sun in it. The most notable thing about Aia is her missing eye. It is purposefully rare to see this emptiness unadorned by patch or bandage, for underneath is a disquieting void of sunken scar tissue. The girl most definitely could have installed a prop eye by now. She has not. Her other eye is a rose red, adding an extra touch of violence to her frequent glowering. She possesses a prominent nose with a modest upward point, full lips and a sharp chin. Her long hair is a pale salmon colour that shows cool-blonde undertones in the sun. |
HISTORY
Aia Fujiwara was the daughter of a doctor and nurse, born in Otafuku Gai's General Hospital where both of her parents worked. Theirs were long hours, so the only child spent much of her early childhood in the company of her nanny, a woman commemorated for the excellent scholastic performance of the young children she helped raise - although, what her resume neglected to mention was her distinct lack of empathy, which Aia tragically grew intimately familiar with.
Either in spite of or because of the abuse she quietly suffered in her young life, Aia grew up to be a problem child. Not scholastically, as was promised; no, she was an ace student on the cards, just so long as one did not open her disciplinary report. She had a peculiar fascination with terrorizing and injuring her fellow students, and was even suspended for six months at the age of twelve for cutting a younger girl's arm with a pair of scissors.
This behaviour deeply concerned her parents, who were ostensibly committed to the healing of peoples, not their maiming. Thus, it was rather insisted upon that Aia follow in her mother's footsteps and become a nurse. Thus, she was medically trained.
Aia did not become a nurse, but she did become a paramedic. At the age of sixteen she gained her license to practice. A gruesome fascination with human anatomy had, for that time, been translated rather effectively into an efficient and even enthusiastic emergency respondent. The young woman managed to save her fair share of lives in that first year. The suggestion was being floated about her being transferred to the Hidden Leaf Village to pursue further training as a combat medic.
This all changed during her seventeeth year. A psychotic member of the public went on a now-infamous stabbing rampage in Otafuku Gai's downtown before having his own blade turned on him by a visiting shinobi. Aia was not on duty that day, not officially - but she was a witness to the event, and blood does not particularly care for rostered hours. She came to the man's aid as he lay semi-conscious and dying, doing what she could with what she had to hand. Whilst she knelt over him, he awoke rather suddenly and, with an alarming strength and speed for his condition, reached up into Aia's right eye, screaming incoherently.
His thumb pierced deep. Aia screamed also. She could not budge her patient's arm even as his finger wriggled around in her skull. A manic rage overtook her. She returned the favour doubly and with a vengeance, crushing both the man's eyes as she grasped his head. She slammed his head into the pavement over and over until further blood pooled out behind him and he lay still.
The murder, such as it was, was legally ruled a self-defense, but the incident still cost the girl her eye and her right to practice medicine. In following, a deep depression overcame the woman, leading her to eventually leave her hometown behind in pursuit of somewhere that would still allow her to pursue her craft.
In less official capacities, she found work as a combat medic, selling her services to the highest bidder. This was an even more extreme line of work than the girl's previous occupation, and it jaded her even further.
One day, whilst in the service of an army and the primary attendant to a wounded noble, Aia was approached by a shady character with an offer: poison her charge in exchange for a handsome reward. Aia did not hesitate long. This contract was perhaps a mistake in the long run, for though the venom acted discretely, faint suspicion followed her thereafter, making it more difficult for her to find consistent mercenary work.
As such, her path lead her back to the Land of Fire, and to the Hidden Village she was seemingly always destined to be a part of. Though her medical license in Otafuku Gai had been indefinitely suspended, this no longer excluded all of her talents, and she soon became a Genin, and later, "independent" of her work in her hometown, received the designation of combat medic.
During only her third year of service to Konoha, Aia was mortally wounded in the field by a vile witch who nearly tore her soul clean from her body. What followed was a torturous, arcane sort of coma that Aia spent the better part of a year within. The experience must have had a profound effect on her spirit, for when she eventually awoke, she had acquired a natural affinity for spirit magics. Precisely what the experience of that deep slumber was like for Aia, she has rarely disclosed.
In any case, this somewhat reformed young woman's powers had grown tremendously during this period of apparent stasis, and, in combination with a redoubled schedule of duty to what was now firmly her homeland, Aia was quickly slated for the Chuunin exams, which she also passed.
Since first leaving her hometown, Aia has not returned to Otafuku Gai, nor again seen her parents. She has little desire to.
