Monstrous Cohort
Rank: "B"
Skill: Supplementary
Effect: User has picked up an unusual cohort.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: User can now alter one of their Monsters gain the Cohort template. The Cohort takes up 1 of your 5 Cohort slots in Leadership. That monster can travel by your side instead of within your essence. Calling upon your Monster Cohort does not count against the user's limit of Monsters Active the user can control. Even though the Creature is treated as a Cohort, it still cannot surpass its learning abilities that were defined by Base Creature/Animal Companion (Example: May only learn Release or Perception if creature has an innate ability equal to Release or Perception.)
Limit: Must be a Monster Trainer. Must know Leadership.
What is meant by "May only learn Release or Perception if creature has an innate ability equal to Release or Perception."
1. Does this mean the Creature must explicitly have the ability to use a Release/Perception?
See answer to question 2.
2. Can we get creative here? E.g, can Creatures with Breath Weapon: Cold or Fire go into Ice or Fire Release (such as the Hydra, Cryo or Hydra, Pyro?
Answer to this is yes.
3. If upgraded to Cohort status, could something like the Fox, Longtailed Silver Slasher (which has a sword for a tail), delve into Sword-related Taijutsu that makes sense (no Iai/sheath techniques) while using its tail as a weapon?
Fox, Longtailed Silver Slasher
Rank: ""
Type: Rare, Small, Mystical Beast
Effect: Foxes with tails that resemble short swords. Will use this tail to defend itself against enemies.
Special: Preparation: ---; Duration: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Also known as Grey Cutter. All the longtailed silver slashers known to exist resemble silver sable foxes with extra long tails. These tails end in a sharp blade that resembles a short sword. Slashers use this tail to defend themselves and skewer prey. Slashers will only attack what they believe they can easily overpower as a pack. Injured or weakened Characters will be targeted over healthy ones. They are not normally aggressive unless attacked or unless their young are threatened. Their tails do 6 Armour Points of Slashing Damage. Slashers live just like common foxes, but they are more sociable. In any den there is a 20% chance of 1-4 non combatant young. Like Foxes, Silver Slashers have excellent senses and are only surprised 2 in 10 times. Goblins will hunt Slashers for their tails, as it is easier than making a short sword.
Yields: Slasher pelts are worth. Slasher cubs can be sold. They make good pets, but terrible guard animals. Slasher tails make excellent short swords.
Class Points: 1; Diet: Carnivore; Intelligence Semi; Activity: Night; Alignment: Neutral; Organization: Packs; Number Appearing: 4-8; Region: Underworld; Identification: Difficult; Cultivation: Difficult; Skills: ; Innate Abilities: Darkvision 20 meters. Low-light Vision. Scent. Tail Slash.
Limit: Must know Creature Lore for Underworld Regions. 15% chance in finding.
