The road hadn't changed all that much over the years. Maybe a litle more wear and tear, but no additional tracks, no cleanups or renewals. It was reassuring that the land was the same. He just hoped that the people had improved.
They soon came up to where the beach was - well, snowy beach this time of year. It wasn't the largest, or the nicest, but in warmer weather it was pleasant enough to enjoy. He had spent a few days here a few years ago before he started living in his new home with his family.
Then he caught glimpse of unnatural movement in the wash of the seawater. He took an extra couple of seconds to keep his eyes on it, and it was definately not a local animal - nothing that large was in this part of the waters. And there were no signs of a boat. Had to be a person - and it wasn't the best of weather for a pleasure swim.
He did the calculations - if he moved in about twenty feet he could flash freeze the area around the target, forcing it to either reveal itself or be trapped. He could prepare an ice arrow to try and trap it, or send a jolt of lightning into the water to shock and possibly paralyze it. The easiest technique for now would be a sphere of water.
He moved his hands together, Quickly forming the required handseals in preparation. 'Suiton: Suisei ōbu no Jutsu' he said under his breath, his left eye shifting to icy, metallic blue. Teh crshing water near the target roiled into a sphere three meters in size, maybe ten meters to the left of the target and well within his range of influence. He directed the sphere to fall into the gap between their group and the unknown.
He trusted Ryutatsu to cover the flanks with their charge, bracing for possible sneakattacks from nearby. After all, they had been advised of these kinds of tactics before they started their journey.

Description: Range of this technique is 30 meters + 15 meters per Class Level. Effect is 3 meter sphere. Duration of this technique is 5 rounds per Class Level. This technique requires a small source of water nearby. User creates a rolling sphere of churning water that can engulf those it strikes. The aqueous orb can move up to 30 meters per round, rolling over barriers less than 3 meters tall. It automatically quenches any non-Chakra fires and dispels against Chakra fires as long as those fires are size Large or less. Any creature in the path of the aqueous orb takes 8 Armour Points of nonlethal damage per Class Level. Engulfed creatures are immersed in water and must hold their breath unless capable of breathing water. They gain cover against attacks from outside the aqueous orb but are considered entangled by its churning currents, takes 12 Armour Points of nonlethal damage at the beginning of their turn each round they remain trapped. Creatures within the orb may attempt a Difficult Escape Artist check each round to escape into a random area adjacent to the aqueous orb. The orb may hold one Large creature, 4 Medium, or 16 Small or smaller creatures within it. The sphere moves as long as the user actively directs it (a move movement for the user); otherwise, it merely stays at rest and churns in place. An aqueous orb stops if it moves outside the Jutsu's range.
