Glenfell Tavern

Somewhere in the small town of Glenfell, the sinking sun cast a shadow over the figure of a tall black man standing in front of a dank building several paces in front of him. An unzipped black leather biker jacket hugged his figure, with a fishnet top visibly serving as innerwear. Black cargo pants and boots completed the look. Golden jewellery decorated his ears and hands. His pockets were stuffed with a number of alchemical items. The man carried no bags with him, only an aura of confidence and greedy determination.
From the outside, the building looked dull, cheerless and broken. Plastered walls and shoddy wooden beams made up most of the building's outer structure. The sign that should've spelt out the name of the establishment was in too much disrepair to be understood. However the graphic of a large mug underneath the sign made the building's purpose clear; it was a tavern.
Though it was impossible to see through the dirty stained-glass windows, the traveller by the name of Diego could sense the depressing aura from within. His lips morphed into a thin scowl. Diego strolled forward in a steady gait, a glint of deadly ambiguity in his eye. He pushed passed the worn wooden door with visible intent and entered the single storey building.
The thick smell of alcohol and smoke instantly greeted the young man. Squared, stone beams supported the ceiling of the 30x15m rectangular room and the rows of small, mostly broken lights attached to it. The walls are littered with all sorts of memorabilia, much of which are unrecognizable due to dust, cobwebs and other dirt. The tables in the room were placed in a haphazard arrangement, decorated with used plates, wooden mugs and playing cards.
Most patrons of the tavern are visibly armed to some degree. This realisation sent a pang of uneasiness through the Diego as he walked across the room.
Whispers and mutters washed over each other like a wave, making it hard for the outsider pick up what anyone was saying without focusing. The dark and dejected look on nearly everyone in the room struck the man as unnerving. He'd gotten a strange vibe ever since since he entered the town of Glenfell five minutes ago and seeing the hopeless and solemn faces on the people here only affirmed this. Diego walked up to the front bar and took a seat at one of the many unoccupied barstools.
At the counter, a stout middle-aged man with thinning salt-and-pepper hair and beady hazel eyes was smoking a dirty pipe, eyes glazed over and not paying any attention to the latest customer.
Diego clicked his fingers at the bartender.
"Menu... now." His unblinking eyes meant business.
The bartender scowled, eyes narrowing at Diego as if to protest. After a short stare off, the man begrudgingly slid a menu across the table to Diego, pipe still in his mouth, shaking his head as he went to go attend to another patron.
"The fuck is wrong with this place..."
Diego watched the man for a few more seconds before turning to the menu. "Chicken and vegetable stew, why not?."
The man's eyes darted around the room once more. A few people were still glancing over at him furtively. It was to be expected, he was an outsider here, one that looked particularly different.
As early it was in the day, the stench of drunkenness in the room was almost as thick of the aura of despair emanating from it. After Diego ordered his food he asked the bartender "Where can I find some work?". The man pointed to a notice board affixed to the wall at the left side of the tavern. Diego lips curled into a wicked smirk, his brown eyes narrowing at the notice board.
