Here lies one of the four great gates leading to the Iron Citadel. The wall itself, standing 30 meters high and 15 meters thick, with scattered battlements about the length of the wall, a giant massive gate stands.
This gate itself, running a full length of 10 meters in width, with a might towering 23 meters in height, and 10 meters in thickness is indeed an impressive sight to behold, a work of mastery to the forge. Tempered steel glimmers across the polished gate as it remains firmly sunken into the ground, its rectangular shape posing as a barrier to all those who wish to enter. Hermetically sealed around all edges, the Crest of the Empath has been emblazed upon the gates with utmost mastery and workmanship.
Atop the gates, a large rectangular block lies, which has been welded. This embodiment of metal has several openings, each about 1 meter high, while running 5 meters in length, totaling to two openings. On two sides of the room, are viewing slots as described before. (The front and back.) To the adjacent sides, sturdy steel doors are bolted shut and can be accessed from the guards inside. A stairwell leads to the top of this building which resides upon the gates, where out of view from any outsiders that may come, a giant unlit torch resides. The bowl itself is of a massive brazen semi circle, of 2 meters in radius. Welded atop the building, a ready supply of easily ignited material rests, waiting to be torched as indication of trouble. Weather is of no consequence for starting the fire, for by merely using their own body heat, moist conditions may be vanquished.
Upon approaching the gate (on either side), 4 guards whom reside in the previously described building will take notice. (Two on each side) After stating your name, and reason for approach, verification may quickly be sent for, or slowly, depending if you are an outsider or not, and the guards may act accordingly. A secret panel in the floor of this room is actually removable, however this is known only to the guards. If a stranger were to enter they would notice nothing, for the thickness of the panel does not create a hollowed sound, nor does it look not welded. Inside, an advance system of cogs and levers may be triggered if used in the proper sequence to raise the gate. To lower it, one must merely enter a wrong sequence. Another well kept secret, on pain of death, is the system of spikes which may jet out of the walls. Upon forming the proper alignment of cogs and levers, small holes in the wall fill, jetting forth thousands of meter long iron spikes as to skewer the enemy. Such information and knowledge is revealed to no one, for the same four guards are positioned at each gate daily, and willingly although occasionally they do gain a fifth member who is willing to keep them entertained.
