The hot desert sun shone brightly over head as the winds sent sand swirling all around Tetsu, it was just past mid-day and he was heading out into the sandy terrain to do his training. With each heavy step, he left a deep impression in the sand while he carried his massive frame over the final dune before he would reach his training spot, hidden on all sides by large dunes that rose into the sky nearly thirty feet. Tetsu slid down the side of dune until he reached the center of the pit where he pulled the large gourd off his shoulder and dropped the two hundred and fifty pound object to the ground with a solid thud.
The first technique on his agenda was one he had read from some scrolls that he had read this morning before heading out to get some breakfast. It was a technique mean to increase the destructive power of his iron by adding sharp, serrated edges to the pieces of iron that he used. It was a pretty basic technique and Tetsu was rather confident that he could get it down quickly. From what he remembered on the scroll, it was a pretty simple technique to perform and control since all that was needed to activate it was the dog hand seal.
With some help from his polarity field, a chunk of iron sand rose up from the mouth of the gourd he had set down and floated about a foot and a half from Tetsu’s face. Slowly, he built up the chakra in his body and began to focus on the sand floating in front of him. After deciding he had built up a sufficient level of chakra, he brought together his hands to form the hand seal of the dog and let his chakra pour out his body and manipulate the iron sand in front of him.
The chakra molded the iron slowly shaping its edges bit by bit, trying to sharpen it and turn the edges into small bits of serrated iron. Even though he had not yet finished, he already knew that the technique was not entirely successful just based on the fact that it should happen within moment’s notice and there was no real need to focus on the iron itself, but he was patient and this was his first attempt so some failure was to be expected if he wanted to master this technique quickly and surely. Deciding this attempt a failure, he stopped his attempt and allowed the iron floating in front of him to drop down to the sand at his feet.
The problem was not his focus or concentration but simply his ability to manipulate the iron, so far he had just been told to use his ability to extract iron out of the mines in the land of thunder but now he was turning his utility type abilities into something to be used for combat and killing. Wasting time wondering why he couldn’t do it properly was a waste of time, the best thing he could do at this point was just try again. The iron sand at his feet floated up again so that it was at eye level and he could see it clearly in front of him.
Tetsu built up his chakra and created the lone required hand seal, his chakra surrounded the iron and began to mold and shape it into what Tetsu wanted. It took a few moments still but this time the chakra slowly molded the bits of iron into tiny serrated objects. He was filled with confidence for his minor success, he had not entirely succeeded but he did do what the technique intended to do and now all he had to do was work on being able to activate the technique instantly without thinking about it or having to concentrate on it.
