“Okay, the sun is just now rising, so I need to get my training started. Kusa and I agreed that I would get one day of every week to train, so I need to take advantage of every minute of every hour if I want to get any better. I have food in my stomach and my Goken books in my rucksack, so I can finally train,” said Kumori as he calmly walked through the streets of the capital and to the local park in the capital, holding his rucksack with his left hand as he had it hanging over his left shoulder. Kumori always trained deep within the park so no one could get in the way and Kumori could have the room needed to perform properly. The sun was in the process of rising as Kumori walked the streets, so there was practically no one else outside other than Kumori. Kumori eventually came across a lost, lonely rock on the street and began to kick it down the street for entertainment. Of course, Kumori wound up and kicked the small rock with his left foot for the first time and sent it rocketing down the street and out of sight. Once again, Kumori was left alone and now he lost his new friend. Kumori finally came to the entrance of the park and went to locate his usual spot.
Kumori, as was already mentioned, prefers to go deep into the local park and train in seclusion. But he has an exact spot that he has set up for his training. Kumori’s training area is nothing more than a thick stump located deep in a thicket of woods. Kumori would walk into the park and travel some distance before he once again found his- training stump. He would then walk up to the stump that was just slightly smaller than him before he tossed his rucksack on top of it and quickly followed suit by pulling himself on top of the stump, as well. Sitting peacefully on top of the stump, Kumori would then open his rucksack and carefully remove one of his books about Goken. Kumori still didn’t know a lot about Goken, but he was a prodigy compared to the everyday guys that he beat up on for food money. Kumori had the page he was last on marked to keep track of his progress, so he cracked the book open and began to read.
Kumori began to read about a move named Konoha Boufuu (Leaf Winding Wind). As Kumori read, he would think, ‘Sounds easy enough, but I won’t know until I give it a try.’ The birds were just waking up as Kumori closed his Goken book. As he sat up on the stump, Kumori would look around and try to see if he could attach the beautiful chirping to a bird, but he failed to do so. It didn’t matter to Kumori too much, since hearing the unique tune was good enough for him. So, with a slight grin on his rough face, Kumori hopped off of the stump and onto the grassy ground below him. The grass was still moist from the morning dew and Kumori realized that it would make his training a little bit more difficult, but would also make it just as fun. Kumori would quickly step away from the stump and calmly turn to look at the stump that he once called chair.
Readying himself, Kumori would confidently slide into the basic stance of Goken, a result of practicing the stance over and over again. With Kumori’s left arm bent at his elbow to hold his left fist in front of him and his right arm placed behind his back, all he had to do was correctly bend his knees properly to have the stance just right. And when Kumori did just that, there was nothing to do but try the move. So, Kumori went for it. The target: stump at 12 o’clock. Kumori could kick and he could do a flip, but it is completely different when you are trying to combine the two things into one. Kumori would push off the ground with force, but he would soon find out that he applied too much force and not enough height in his flip. By the time Kumori tried to extend his left foot to kick the top of the stump he was inches away from busting it on the cold, wet ground. The wet grass below Kumori was messing with his “lift off”. Lying motionlessly on the dew-covered grass, Kumori would look up at the barely lit sky with a surprised look on his face, eyes wide open and blinking frequently like he was still trying to comprehend what had just happened to him. After sitting there for a few minutes, listening to nature or just now realizing that he was now soaked from lying in the wet grass, Kumori would think, ‘You win this time, grass.’
