And thus her search would begin. Over the barren land she would trek, her long silver hair streamed down her back and her wooden sandals clacked against the many stones along the ground. Her crimson eyes darted like dragonflies on the water as she watched carefully for any sign of movement. After a few minutes she found a man walking towards her. She quickly side-stepped bringing herself in front of the man. “Excuse me sir, I’m looking for someone known as the butterfly woman.”

The man stuttered for a second and finally pointed off to the right. “Thank you,” Kana said briskly as she turned off the path and headed in the direction the man had pointed. Rocks gave way to soft grass that muffled the sound of her footsteps. The kunoichi sighed, feeling lonely since she had left Athena behind, but she needed to do this alone, and it was something that she needed to prove she could do by herself. Finally a cabin loomed in the distance; flora and fauna thrived outside the wooden structure, and glittering wings disappeared into bushes. Standing well back Kana would take a deep breath and shunshin the rest of the way to the door before letting her fist rap against it three times. After which she took a step back, ready to jump in case this woman displayed a temper. Honestly she knew nothing about the woman herself, only her skills.

The knocks would come to a surprise of Madoka, she had no scheduled appointments. Today was that of rest and slight work, a chance to regain her prowess of life. She would turn to the door, turning her back to the poisons on the table. Her long icy locks would flow as she twisted. Standing up her kimono would drape down her legs. Three quick movements and she would now be beside the door, her movements were that of a butterfly, such quiet and gracefully flowing movements.

The door would open, and a pale face would peer out her piercing emerald optics would gaze upon the visitor. With no expression shown Madoka would speak. "Whom may I ask is calling upon me?" she asked the simple question of Kana's name. Her tone soft, and with no real expression within it, would lead to Kana into making the initial move.

Kana bowed to the female, still on her guard just in case. "My name is Machiko Kana, I have ventured from the land of Thunder to find the woman who lives amongst the butterflies. Through my life I have learned the arts of many clans, looking for one to fill that void inside of me. Since hearing of your clan I have thought of little else. I wish, by your guidance, to surrender myself to the butterflies," it was a speech, one not prepared but spoken from the heart. It was true Kana knew she had been destined to work with these butterflies and to love them. Now if only this woman would permit it.

[Kuro]

The speech would be heard, a feeling of familiarity would rise up within Madoka's heart. She would open the door in a state of welcome to Kana. She would turn and make her way back into the cabin of which she lived within. Butterflies would loom fluttering around the sun basked rooms. Windows open wide allowing the calming breeze to brush in through the rooms. Flowers would grow luscious in color outside the windows, aiding in the calling of butterflies and their ways.

"To fill something such as the emptiness within one's soul you must search long and hard," the young girl would begin to say as she walked away from Kana. Turning back with a glance over her shoulder. The ice blue locks fluttering away from her face revealing the green eyes once more. "Have you undergone such a search Kana of Kumo?" she would ask, it would seem yet another ninja was in search of the secrets of this clan. Kana seemed different, decent and ascent seemed different than most that had come to Madoka, she couldn't help but wonder.

Kana entered the building and her eyes were captivated by the butterflies who apparently came freely to this strange woman. After a moment she realized she was being spoken too and looked back to her. "I have spent my life searching, though perhaps not conventionally. When I was born my mother left, so I lived with my father who showed me the ways of his clan. It was something, but after time even that lost my interest. Then I was taught the ways of the Nara, which also passed quickly. Finally i became a Tsubasa, it was the closest thing to filling the void. The love of another creature, the trust, it is something beyond that of other clans. And since I was young I dreamed of this day, meeting these magnificent creatures, and being allowed to care for them. Though my journey was mostly mental, it still brought me here, to you. And all I ask if for you to let me prove to you that I am deserving."

Kana shifted, feeling slighty off. It had never happened before, she had never expressed her feeling like this, and to a complete stranger nonetheless. But if it worked, if Madoka could trust her... it would be all worth it.

[Kuro]

To display such trust so quickly would be considered poor in judgment to most, for some reason the ideas expressed behind the story was what touched Madoka the most. "To search and to travel is not always of the physical state. To many a spiritual experience can be life altering," the words would come out calmly as her pale skin would seem to illuminate from the ice blue hair.

A quick motion of the hand Madoka would call upon three butterflies all of different decent and all of a different species. They would flutter about, carefully around each other. One was larger than the rest and much more elegant, it was a Queen Alexandra's Birdwing Butterfly. Another of the trio was a Ulysses Butterfly, it's colors were extravagant. The final butterfly was a simple Monarch, smaller than the rest and of a simpler decent. "Hold out your hand," Madoka would speak softly, depending on the butterfly that would choose her it would depend on Madoka's choice.

Kana listened silently and held her right hand out when told. Her crimson eyes watched the butterflies hovering around Madoka, all weaving in and out of each other as if having a silent conference. The Ulysses and Monarch drew closer to the girl, as if torn between a decision. Finally the monarch alighted upon her fingertips, slowly the wings folded down and Kana smiled. She hadn't cared which butterfly it was, only that one had willingly landed upon her. She looked up at Madoka curiously yet still smiling. For all the world Kana seemed to be enjoying herself like a normal girl, a rare moment in the kunoichi's life.

[Kuro]

The butterflies had spoken and chosen a path for the young Kana of Kumo. Madoka would think only for a moment before speaking to the young girl. "The monarch butterfly, one of the commoner's past. Seen all across our beautiful world, but those of common decent, may not be seen as a threat to most. But even a child could pose a threat to someone," she would speak. Explaining what this meant, Kana had a past that seemed to be common of the Shinobi, suffering and heartbreak filling their memories. No doubt the butterflies could sense this and that's what lead to the choice being of the Monarch.

"Young Kana, with such welcoming and embrace of the butterflies, I would be happy to allow you entrance into the great clan of the Kiteteha," she would say as she then turned and approached her desk. Opening a drawer she pulled out a few scrolls. She would then return to Kana holding out the scrolls for her to have. The transaction would be complete. Kana Machiko of Cloud would be welcomed into the Clan of the Butterfly

Kana reached for the scrolls with her left hand trembling slightly. The monarch still alighted upon her right. She stared at the scrolls for a moment before tucking them into her sash. "I have one more request," Kana began with her eyes upon the butterfly. "I feel horrible asking when you have done so much, but I heard tell of a ritual, one that bonds them with my very body. It is that closeness that I wish for, if you see me fit. If you declare I am not ready then I will master all I can and prove myself to you." Her breath caught in her throat as excitement swelled within her body. She was so close to gaining everything she ever wanted.

[Kuro]

"Your motives are true, you long to find companions that would fill that emptiness within your soul. I hope you the best in aiding you to fill such a hole," she would say at first, and granting permission to Kana to undergo the ritual. Kana would no doubt have no clue to the pain that would follow up with the ritual but she seemed longing for it.

She would tell though, for it wasn't worth the time and the suffering. The choice was of Kana's not Madoka's she would not chose the path for the young shinobi. She did not wish to intervene that much into another person's life.

(Handing over the NPC to Ayame, the permissions been granted and all that needs to be done is the ritual which she can handle.)

Special: A medic, fifteen seeds, a Kitateha with their butterflies and the person undergoing the ritual.
Description: Using a scalpel or similar object the medic will make small incisions across the persons arms. One seed is pressed into each incision and thus the butterflies take over. The butterflies will pollinate each seed before using silk to close over the wound, at this point the medic will began performing healing hands while the seeds rapidly begin to grow. The flowers will grow and shrink rapidly before blooming fully. If the flowers are damaged in any way they will grow back within minutes.
Drawback: This ritual causes extreme pain and dizziness when performed.
Placement Requirements: Must be a member of the Kitateha Clan

”I’ll do it,” Kana said firmly. And with that simply phrase Madoka would nod somberly. “Let me gather what is needed. You will need to change out of your kimono, if you require clothing my bedroom is on the left.” And with that Kana was left in the butterfly filled cabin. The kunoichi removed her items from her sash and laid it carefully over a chair. She made deft work of the ties on her kimono and shrugged the garment off, revealing a simple tank top and pants. From her weapons she fetched a senbon to twist her hair into an elegant knot.

Soon Madoka returned with another female. The second woman had a short brown bob and a dusting of freckles. Her face revealed a love for life. “This is Miri, she’s a medic. Has your decision changed?” Kana shook her head and Madoka nodded. “Kneel,” the medic instructed and Kana obeyed. “This might hurt,” the medic warned as she drew a scalpel from her pocket. Kana held out her left arm and closed her eyes. The scalpel bit into her arm, slicing layers of skin and tissue. Crimson liquid poured from the wound to spiral down her arm. But that was only the beginning.

Eight times the process was repeated on her left arm alone before she moved to the right arm. Each incision brought waves of pain causing the kunoichi to bite down upon her lower lip. Pain she could handle, but pain when she knew it was coming… that was something else. Her anticipation of the pain only made the experience worse over all. She could feel the blood coursing down both of her arms, collecting at her fingers to drip onto the ground. The dripping blood provided the only sound in the otherwise deafening silence pressing upon her ears. She couldn’t help but wonder what came next.

“Seeds,” the medic said from her side. Kana could feel Madoka’s presence near her as she gave Miri the seeds. Madoka knelt and put her hand in Kana’s. Kana tried to squeeze her hand reassuringly but found herself unable. The loss of blood had drained her strength, leaving her dizzy. She laughed weakly as she thought about how glad she was her eyes were closed. And then the pain continued. The small wounds had hurt, not terribly but enough, and the blood pouring from them had left her dizzy, but this, this was torture. Kana’s teeth sunk into her lower lip once more.

The wounds were long, not wide. So as Miri began forcing a seed into each incision, it was anticipated pain like Kana had never known. Each seed forced the wound open further, eliciting a whimper of pain from the kunoichi as tears filled her eyes. Salt in a wound was painful, this was nothing like that. This was having something solid stuffed inside a thin but bleeding cut. By the time her right arm was finished Kana had forced back her tears, but blood poured from the gouges her teeth had caused in her lips. One arm down, one more to go.

Post Two

It had been such a fast decision, she hadn’t thought of the consequences, of the pain. But it was all too late for that now. She had willing stripped off her outer kimono and tosses aside her weapons to allow some overly-cheerful medic to take a scalpel to her arms and nearly dissect her, and now the self-same medic had spent the time shoving seeds into the seven incisions on her right side. A quiet groan left her mouth as she realized now right seeds would be forced into her left arm. No turning back now though. Madoka moved to Kana’s right side and squeezed her hand gently. “Almost done with this part,” she whispered.

Pain shot up her left arm as yet another incision was forced to open wide to allow the seed. One by one the medic implanted the seeds into her very flesh as crimson blood continued to pour. When six of the seeds had been implanted Madoka stepped back, preparing to care for her own part of this technique. The last seed was finally implanted. Kana was dizzy with pain. Her fingers attempted to clutch the wooden floor to keep herself upright. Her thoughts raced and did fell away, unable to fully clutch on to any thought at the time, not now.

Unbeknownst to Kana, Madoka’s hands were quickly flying through a set of hand seals. Butterflies whirled around the aqua haired beauty and fifteen of them swooped down upon Kana. The kunoichi could feel the small legs against her body; the tickling sensation was masked by the pain. Bits of pollen fell into her wounds, irritating them further. Was this what she had signed up for? Two long minutes passed as her wounds were pollinated. They itched and hurt but Kana was helpless to stop them. What was next, she wondered, and could it possibly be worse than having seeds shoved into her body?

She was about to find out. The butterflies began to move around her wounds, doing god knows what. Kana could feel something liquid moving over her skin. The liquid poured into her wounds, covering the now pollinated seeds. The liquid burned like fire against her raw skin. A yelp rose from her throat despite her attempts to hold it back. Madoka winced as she urged the butterflies to hurry. Miri surged towards Kana, her hands rushing through seals and coming to rest on the girls back as she let her healing energy flow through the kunoichi. The butterflies flew back to Madoka. Now it was time for the ritual to take its course.

The healing energy did little to help Kana soon found out. The seeds quivered beneath her skin, allowing her to actually feel the movement as the sprouted and grew and collapsed upon themselves once more. The process repeated for what seemed like eternity. Final the flowers burst through her skin as a scream tore from her throat. Red flowers blossomed to contrast against her pale skin. Blood surged into the very flowers, making them part of her. Kana laughed weakly before collapsing against the floor in a faint. It seemed this was happening all too often lately…

Kana awoke weak but alive. Scribbling a note she left Madoka her contact information and promised to return soon before stumbling out of the cabin and maker her way to the docks
