Regaining his composure, Agrino decided to start on his next technique. Looking through the Ice scroll, he found an extension to the jutsu that he had just learned. This time, it was to make a trap of ice in the snow. It would make it in a 5 meter radius causing anyone who stepped foot on the snow in that radius to freeze the opponents feet in place. Looking over the handseals, he practiced them for a bit after being sure he knew what to do.
He realized that he would need something to test if it worked, but then remembered that he had 9 shuriken in his pouch. So he would use them to test the trap. Forming the handseals, Agrino pressed his right hand into the snow below him and focused his chakra. Closing his eyes, he was trying to make sure that he had succeeded in making the trap of ice. After a few minutes, he used his left hand to pull out a shuriken and throw it into the snow about 4 meters away, but nothing happened. So he threw one 3 meters away, nothing, 2 meters, nothing, 1 meter, it slightly froze.
Standing up and collecting his shuriken, Agrino walked back to the spot he was in and formed the handseals again. Slamming his hand into the snow, he focused his chakra even harder, trying to get the trap to work. After a couple minutes he threw a shuriken a meter away and watched it freeze completely. Throwing another one 2 meters away, he saw it just sit there. Throwing one 1 and a half meters away, he saw it freeze about halfway.
Standing up and gathering the shuriken again, Agrino sat down and reread the technique, hoping for some information as to what he could do. But even that wasn’t giving him much. It said that it had a 5 meter radius, and would freeze what touches it. So he would just have to focus his chakra more, and make sure that he was focusing his chakra into the 5 meter radius.
Putting the scroll away, Agrino performed the handseals and focused his chakra to his palms. Bending down, he pressed his hand into the snow and released the chakra as far as he could, hoping it would go 5 meters away. But he didn’t stop. He continued to focus it, just to be sure it would work correctly.
Then he took out all 9 shuriken. He threw one half a meter apart. Anything past 3 meters didn’t freeze at all. At 3 meters, it started to freeze. At 2 and half it was frozen about halfway. At 2 meters and lower, they were completely frozen. It was a bit better then he had done previously. But he needed to get it to go the full 5 meters in order for this technique to work to full potential.
Walking forward, he grabbed all of his shuriken and pocketed them for the time being. Then he formed the handseals again and focused his chakra even more then before. Bending down, he pressed his hand into the snow and felt his chakra release out quickly outward. Then he pulled out his shuriken. It was time to test this again.
Throwing a shuriken 3 meters away, it froze completely. He gained another meter with it at least. Then he threw another 4 meters away. It sat there, not freezing at all. Throwing it 3 and a half meters away, Agrino watched it freeze a bit. So he was increasing it. But it had to go all the way to 5 meters. So he wasn’t quite done just yet. With a sigh, he collected his shuriken and prepared to train again.
Forming the 4 handseals, Agrino focused his chakra, harder then he had previously. Pressing his hand into the snow, he poured his chakra into it as hard as he could. He was starting to get tired with training in this. But he had to finish it before he could rest. Taking out his shuriken, he threw one 4 meters away. It froze completely. He then threw one 5 meters away, and it didn’t freeze. “One more time.” He said.
Grabbing his shuriken, he formed the handseals one final time. He then bent down and pressed his hand into the snow, pouring every ounce of chakra he could into the snow. Then he threw his shuriken in a row all the way down, giving half of a meter of distance between them. Each one in turn froze completely. He then used the Snow-Ice transformation jutsu and got rid of the ice on the shuriken. Picking them up, he laid against a tree, and started to rest a bit.
When he was done, he wanted to use the technique once more, now that his chakra was back. Forming the handseals, he pressed his hand into the snow, not pouring all of his chakra into it. It was a simple technique and wouldn’t need to use much chakra, so he would hope it would work. And sure enough, when he threw his shuriken into the snow 5 meters away, it froze. He had succeeded. Picking it up, he prepared to learn something new.
