Marii yawned and stretched herself. She went up from the bed (it's the same bed as Naruto has) and pulled away the curtains. It was quite early; her watch that was on her wrist showed 07:10 AM. 'Oh Kami....' thought the Kazeraikou.
A blanket of white snow had covered the whole village in white. It was still dark outside, but she could see some faint rays of sun in the horizon. She took on a wool undershirt under her light green sweater, and pulled a pair of wool hoses under her sweatpants.
Then she jogged up to the kitchen, only to find her groggy father and little brother Ryota, who was reading some comics in the newspaper. "Morning dad!" smiled Marii. "Morning...yawn" said the adult, scratching his hair. "Wow, I thought you didn't had any missons" said the Kazeraikou.
"So did I. Then, some bastard blew up the Raikage tower and I, Takeshi-onee chan and Hinata-onee san had to clean up the mess" said the Jounin. His dark circles were only darker now, and his blue-black hair was messier than a pile of hay that had been the fighting arena for two cats.
"Tell me about it. I had to look trough the ruins to find people who were injured" muttered the brunette. "Yeah! What kinda idiot blows up the tower, just for the fun of it!?" said the blonde, looking a little angry. "And remember the bird seeds Marii-chan" grinned Masao. "How could I forget" said Marii, rolling her eyes.
FLASHBACK.
An almost 6-year old girl was standing in the window. "Look dad! It's snowing!" she smiled. "Yeah I know. But you know those birds I summon?" asked her father. The blonde nodded (yes, Marii had blonde hair in the past. It was between medium ashblond and dark ashblond). "Well, they help me during the battles. Therefore, we have to pay them back somehow" said the adult.
"You mean...the birds are suffering in the snow?" said the little girl, her voice a little anxious. The blue-eyed man chuckled. "Not exactly. But you know what birds eat, right?" asked the male. "Mhm! Worms, seeds, berries...oh" said said Marii, looking at the snow. 'They can't eat seeds and worms when it's under all that snow. And berries are only existing during summer and autumn' thought the girl.
"So...we're going to give the birds worms!?" said the girl. "Not worms...but better" said Masao and pulled up a small bag with all kinds of food for birds. Sunflower seeds, dry bread crumbs, pieces of nuts that were too small and other good things for birds. "Now, go into the forest behind our house. Continue for a little while, and you'll see a small, red birdhouse. Lay the seeds inside the house, but lay some of them on the outside as well" said the Jounin and gave his daughter the bag.
The Academy student nodded, took on her blue winter jacket, black cap and gloves (decorated with blue snow crystals) and black winter boots and went out. She dashed trough the forest, her short hair moving with her movements.
After a little while, she saw a small red bird house that laid in a hollow treeroot. It was high: it was about 3 feet, and the 3,8 tall girl stuffed her small hand in the bag with bird food.
A small hand went into the birdhouse, and laid the seeds there. "There!" smiled the blue-eyed girl, and laid in some more seeds. Then, she laid some on the outside before she went back. "OK daddy, I laid the seeds in the house!" smiled Marii when she returned.
"Good. Now, you're going to lay food there every second day. But if the snow is gone, you don't need to" smiled the taijutsu expert.
END OF FLASHBACK.
The brunette was jumping trough the forest, wearing her light green winter jacket and a black cap and black gloves. When her siblings turned 6, they had to feed the birds as well, but they were switching on it, so it became more fair.
'Now...there it is' smiled the Chuunin. She took out some seeds, and laid it in the house, just like she'd done for so many years. After she had laid in a decent amount of food, she laid some on the outside. She heard the birds sing. It was all kinds of birds in this forest: sparrows, robins, blackbirds, great tits, blue tits, woodpeckers....the list kept going on.
Suddenly, she heard something hoot. Then, she saw Kaisen on a branch that was about 4 feets above her. "Hi Kaisen! How are you doing?" said the girl. The owl hooted a little louder. 'I guess that means yes' thought Marii. "I didn't forgot you!" smiled the Kazeraikou and took out some beef. Kaisen hooted, and flied down, right towards her. "AAAH!" screamed the brunette (not very loud, but still) and took up her hands in defense. Suddenly, she felt a small weight on her right arm. Kaisen was sitting on it, looking on her with pitch black eyes (the owl is about 1 1/2 foot, it's still quite young).
"Oh...I'm sorry" said the teen. The owl hooted, almost to say that it was fine. The Cloud nin gave the owl the beef. After the owl was eating, Marii extended her left hand carefully. Kaisen stood still. The Kazeraikou stroked lightly over the feathers. The owl hooted, nudging her hand with the beak. "You like to be patted on, hm?" asked the brunette. The great horned owl hooted again.
