………..
Ayame left the Kusakage’s office with a grin. She clutched the envelope tightly in her hand. This was a Hanako’s dream mission, and she had been lucky enough to get it! As she walked down the stone path she took in her surroundings. There was grass everywhere with a scattering of flowers. And everything looked like it could use a good watering.
Instead of opting to use a water skill to give the plants nourishment she went about it the old fashioned way. She took hoses and sprinklers and set them up in Kusa’s incredibly tall grass.
With the sprinklers set up and running she checked the time so she would know when to shut them off. Over watering a plant was just as dangerous as not watering it at all.
Her hands flew through seals and she slapped her palm down against the ground. She repeated this five times until she had a small pile of seeds at her disposal. She separated the seeds into piles. She had summoned roses, iris, sunflowers, and other flowers she knew would not be dwarfed by the tall grass of Kusa.
Along the road she planted her seeds, using genesis technique to give them a head start. Once the flowers began to bud she withdrew her hand and moved onto the next plant. She knew with proper care the residents of Kusa would be seeing all her plants flower within the next week.
Next Ayame decided to tackle the main part of the city where everything was stone and hard on the eyes. Her first stop was the Academy. She greeted the teachers happily before explaining herself.
”You see I’m on a mission for the Kusakage. I’m helping out keeping Kusa green and cheerful so I wanted to know if I could do some planting around the front of the academy.”
The teachers exchanged glances and agreed quickly. They asked if they could help in any way but Ayame refused.
”If any of the students want to help though I wouldn’t mind letting them.” She said with a grin.
Ten students ended up volunteering to help her, the majority of them were girls though that wasn’t a huge surprise.
With the students help she planted long rows of seeds. She decided on lilies and irises for the front of the building. They were all beautiful flowers. She had considered roses but the thorns seemed too dangerous for the children.
”Okay stand back everyone!” Ayame said as they planted the last seeds. The children hurried back from their newly made flower garden as Ayame began performing hand seals.
She stuck her hands into the freshly dug dirt and let her chakra flow through the flower bed. She heard the children gasp and clap as stems began too shoot up from the surface.
Ayame could feel the heat rising to her face. This was difficult. She was trying to grow what seemed like a million plants at once and she had to give each different plant different levels of chakra.
Once she grew the plants to the point of budding she withdrew her hands and clapped them together to remove the excess dirt. She ran the back of her arm over her forehead, knowing if she tried with her hand she’d just end up with a huge dirt streak covering her face.
”Alright everyone. I made these plants grow up most of the way but if you really, really want to see the flowers they are going to need to be watered.” Ayame explained as she stood up.
One eager student rushed to the hose causing Ayame to laugh. “No, no! Not yet silly.” She corrected the boy. “One person is going to need to water them every other day. I bet if you ask nicely your sensei will make a schedule so everyone gets to water them.” Ayame said with a wink.
The kids understood the idea and rushed to their sensei quickly. Ayame laughed quietly and shook her head.
”You have progressed nicely Ayame-chan.”
Ayame turned around. “Thank you Sora-sensei.” Ayame said as she bowed to her former academy teacher.
”Here, I wrote a letter for you to take to the Kusakage. Hopefully I will see you again soon.”
Ayame thanked her teacher profusely and headed to her next destination. She wasn’t ready to return to the Kage yet. Not when she had just begun her mission. By the time she was done Kusa would be engulfed in plants.
