(OOC: I just reread the mission. I have come to realize that I should of done the mission INSIDE the village. D=
Well regardless I'll just have to do the mission here.)
Jarrath was just about to arrive at the mission chambers when a ball obscurely blocked his path, a small child captured it and carried it off huffing to himself.
"We can't play here! It's just dirt!"
...Eh?...
Turning his head to one side Jarrath saw what looked like a sports field, however it was rather neglected and worn. The boy was right, the field had been worn to a large brown circle with yellowed foliage growing around the edges.
...Tch, that's no good...
Feeling rather compelled Jarrath followed the boy back to his friends.
"My feet hurt!" One cried.
"My dress is all yuck!" A girl moaned.
"Where else can we play?"
The children seemed fairly angry over the lack of a decent playing field. And rightly so- who was supposed to be maintaining this place? Oh right... the mission...
"I'll help" Jarrath said scraping a handful of soil ...Dry, a bit sandy. It'll need turning first...
The kids peered at him for a moment which gave Jarrath the feeling he had something on his face. Though one of them spoke up "Aren't you a ninja? What can you do to help?"
"Well... I can replace the grass here. But I'll need all of your help." Jarrath said dropping the soil through his fingers.
The kids huddled in a circle of whispering before breaking apart "Okay. Deal."
Jarrath smiled and dug his heel into the earth "First, this top soil isn't very good. Well need to get the nice soil below." he pondered "Does anyone know where we could get a few tools?"
"My mom owns a flower shop" The girl said blushing slightly "I could get a few shovels."
Jarrath nodded and the girl left. "Next we'll need water-" Before he could finish a boy spoke "I know were the hose is!" he too left.
"Okay, finally we need to get some grass..." Jarrath said scanning the area, he walked over to the yellowed grass, it seemed dead. However Jarrath pushed apart the blades to find a white stem reaching from the ground, he carefully dug around it and lifted it out.
The girl was back with a wheelbarrow preciously overloaded with tools. She managed to stop it at the edge of the field before calling everyone over.
The children were fairly zealous at working, after all they really wanted to play. All the kids lined up with their shovels and along with Jarrath who demonstrated how to turn the earth. Working in a line they manged to eat their way across the field and back in little under half an hour. Now they had a field ready for planting. The hose arrived which was set to one side.
"Alright everyone, move off the field for a moment please." The children did as they were told, mildly curious at to what would happen next.
Placing the grass shoot in the middle of the field Jarrath began his call upon his chakra and his hands began to glow with a blue hue. "Seiiku No Jutsu"
For a second there was nothing. At least to the untrained eye. The stem twisted slightly as beneath the earth roots were digging in, finding their bearings in the soft soil.
The white stem shot out a dozen green blades. It seemed hardly enough for a moment but soon there after the stem sent numerous runners which expanded further. From a birds eye view it looked as if a green starfish had grown on the field.
In order to cover the entire field he needed a vast amount of chakra, possibly exhausting himself. He pressed on though, his hand hovering over his first stem. The grass grew out further, claiming foot after foot of the field.
The kids began to whoop and cheer, some jumping and others clapping.
Ten minutes had past, the whole field was almost complete, Jarrath however looked rather downtrodden, small beads of sweat were already formed on his brow and he seemed to have a hard time keeping his balance. Just as the last blade of grass crossed the edge he couldn't hold on and remembers nothing but tipping over...
...
...
...
COLD!
Opening his eyes he saw the hose looking back at him. The kids were all gathered around him with worried expressions on their faces "Hello? Mister? Are you awake?" they piped.
Jarrath sat up and felt another wave of dizziness. "Yeah... I'm awake... Thanks" he managed a sheepish smile. Trying to stand he felt uneasy, though the kids helped him to his feet. "I'm just a little tired. I'll be alright though in a while." He dragged his feet over to the wooden seating normally kept for spectators and sat down, giving out a long, contemplative breath.
The field was already watered and the kids had begun to kick their ball about. A comforting feeling washed over him as he nodded off.
Well regardless I'll just have to do the mission here.)
