A Tranquil Death

Seion was wandering around, walking about the trees of the forest, letting the rain drops that fell from the leaves hit him. His expression was one of that who seemed lost in a dream of some sorts. He just kept walking, not caring about the time or how fast he was walking, not even how heavily it was raining at the moment. Eventually his walk led him to a cave where he had used a few times in the past whenever he exited the village for some reason or another. He shook his head as he walked past the entrance, letting the water fly out of his hair. He brushed some water away from his clothes and as he was doing this, he heard a noise within the cavern. He stopped and listened for what could have been inside this place. It was pretty far from the village, so he did not think there would be a shinobi here.
Seion, as silently and slowly as he could, made his way into the darkness of the cavern. The sound sounded muffled. By now, there was very little light for Seion to see, so he had to rely on his other senses. After walking around a few places, he heard the muffled sound get stronger and then weaker. He walked back and forth a few places and finally discovered the place where the muffled sound seemed the strongest. He smiled as he realized that an earthen wall was blocking the sound. He softly put his hand on the wall and felt around. He gently knocked a few times, to see where it was hollow. Then, when he found the right place, he put an exploding tag on the wall and stepped back. He made the hand seal and it exploded. Seion could hear a yell.
“And who’s hiding in there?”
“That voice...”
From the smoke, Seion could see a large empty space, with a large lake in the middle. There were a few torches around and the man who had just spoken was sitting down next to a bonfire. He got up and stared at Seion, with eyes that surprised him. Then, as the man got closer, Seion could tell what his face looked like. He remembered that face. Drips of water magnified by the echoes of the cave acted as counters of the time that passed as each stood silent. Slowly, Seion’s hand curled into a fist. By now, his eyes matched the other man’s, though he knew his eyes were not as developed as the other person’s. The fires in the cavern suddenly flared up as the shadows of the two shinobi grew and then suddenly disappeared. The two met with their weapons drawn and against each other, face to face and spite against spite.
“You should be dead.”
“Never thought this ghost would come back to haunt you, eh?”
“The Council is finished. You should have just died...no you should already be dead...How? Your body was there with the Namine siblings...since you were their closest bodyguard.”
