Reika watched silently as her grandfather hobbled into the house, her parents following. She felt happy, today had turned out to be a wonderful day. She had finally memorized everything she needed to know about puppetry, she'd drawn her 500th teddy bear, and many other things she has already forgotten. Yes, it was a very wonderful day indeed.
She smiled down at Plenair, her new puppet, feeling the sudden urge to release some of this energy. So, after secluding herself in the woods near her home, she did. The red-head had designated this place as her very special training grounds since no one else used it. It was all her own, something that was a complete and utter secret. Well, except for the fact her parents, grandfather, best friend, and those Academy students down the street knew...
The way Reika released her overabundance of energy was almost tradition among certain ninja. She threw very sharp objects into unfortunate trees. She could already count up to 100 or so kunai she has lost, dulled, or completely obliterated. And now she only had three to her name, luckily she also has some senbon. They would have to do. She walked out to one of her cleverly designed targets and slipped a kunai between her fingers.
She definitely wasn't the most accurate Kunoichi in the village, thus this 'training'. He reared her arm back and then flung it forward, releasing the kunai at the arc of her throw. The metal instrument of death flew forward, the momentum pushing it into the soft wood of the target. It was on the third red line painted from the center, in other words, way off from the intended target. Reika frowned in distaste, reaching of another kunai.
She held the weapon by the ring twisting it in her gloved hand as she prepared. Maybe she threw it at the wrong time, or didn't factor in the weight of the object. Either way, she had messed up her first try and anted to redeem herself. Her blue eyes narrowed as sung her arm forward, releasing the kunai from her fingers. The blade soared from her hand, carving through the air toward the target and hitting said target with a dull thunk.
Again, she was unsuccessful in her goal, the kunai landing on the second white line this time. Closer than before, but still not the center. Here she was, trying to release her energy yet all she managed to do was annoy herself. Her lips tugged into another frown, though she only managed a pout. "What am I doing wrong?" She asked seemingly no one. Reika glanced back at Plenair who was resting against a large rock. She got no answer.
Maybe she should try a new tactic? She usually threw her kunai by swinging her arm in an arc in front of her body. But, that mostly worked when she was throwing with body hands...Maybe, when only using one, she had to throw differently. To test this Reika took her final kunai into her hand, her attention focused on the target in front of her. Shifting her feet she threw the kunai, this time her arm arcing upward instead of horizontally.
The kunai flew straight before becoming buried deep into the wood, a single line from the center. "Well, at least I'm getting better!" Reika giggled, going to retrieve her weapons. She'd have to stock up, kunai were every bit more interesting than senbon. She barely used senbon anyway...
