Armada
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: D Rank/ D Rank To Learn Variation.
Effect: A spinning outside crescent kick/Armadas done in a row without the kicking leg touching the ground.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: The standard standing spin kick in Capoeira. It is a crossing between the Mei Lua de Compasso (rotation) and the Queixada (hitting area, posture). As usual, start from the Ginga. Turn inwards on your heels (or foot balls); rotate for 270 degrees on your rear leg and for 180 degrees on your front leg. Now quickly throw your upper body around until you see your enemy again. You will lose eye contact with him for this moment, so get this part over quickly. Once you can't twist your torso any further, release the tension by linting your rear leg; it should get dragged along very fast as your body is untwisting. This kick is performed with the hitting leg's foot pointing straight up (The same applies to the Meia Lua de Frente and the Queixada). Put your foot at rest in the same position you started with. You can now follow up with further Armadas, Queixadas in the opposite direction, Meia Lua de Compassos etc.

Variations:
The morning air was crisp and fresh as Aiko carried her quick pace through the village. The sun was barely peeking over the horizen, and already she was half-way through her morning workouts. Her body work-outs, the ones she had been doing for almost all her life, and now her run to the first training session of the day with her Mestra, Kenshi Ai, a rather mousy but fierce character, and a dependable fighter and instructor. He was training her in the capoeira style, one which she had already basic knowledge in, and wanted to increase. They were beginning the physical part of the training now, the actual fighting, using the beat and rythem to coordinate attacks.
The dojo came into view on the horizen and she took in a deep breath of the cold air. Today would be fun, she had lots of training lined up, and tonight? Well, she planned on going out for dinner, perhaps ramen or something equally unhealthy. either way, this was going to be a long day, so she figured a treat would do her just nicely. Coming upon the steps of the dojo, Kenshi stood there, arms crossed, frown upon his face, obviously unhappy with her. Avoiding his gaze, she looked at the black tattoo across his dark scarred chest, a tribal tattoo, a symbol of his past life.
"You're late"
His heavy accent made things quite difficult ot understand, but when angered, it made him sound so much more imposing. She bowed deeply to him, but he ignored it and turned sideways, granting her access to the dojo, which she entered wordlessly. It would not do to anger her trainer, it would just make her practice a lot more difficult than it had to be, and now that he had finally accepted her as a student, she did not wish to put him off. Aiko turned and looked at him as she shed his outer clothing, the thick gi he wore, leaving him with just his white martial arts leggings, and the katana strapped to his waist, which he promptly removed and placed it atop a table in the corner.
"What you are 'ere to learn, is the art of Capoeira, the dance style, I will tech you to combat with simple, yet effective strikes that are difficult to predict and block, now, drop into you' stance"
Aiko let her body relax into her Ginga stance, preparing for what it was the male before her was going to teach her. His body was moving through the same coordinated positions as hers, but he knew what was abotu to happen, giving him an edge. Turning his body from her, all the while follwing the beat, he drew his leg upwards slightly, keeping the leg straight and balancing on his left foot. Then, with a powerful swing, he brought his leg over with a powerful ark, his knee almost skimming his face as he drove it by, then, with an altered heel drop, he brought his leg back down to rest behind his anchored foot, and settling right back into the rythem.
"To perform Capoeira, one must always be with the beat, even for simple moves like the armada"
Aiko had watched the movements with interest, studying how his hip movement had worked as he brought his leg around, keeping it almost vertical until he dropped it in the final parts of the movement. It had looked off balance, but she supposed with the timing of his movements from the stance, he had been able to perform with practiced ease. She had the flexibility to perform these techniques, yes, but she was unsure of her ability to coordinate both timimg and attacking and keep it all together. Turning her back towards him, she focused on trying to keep her center of gravity while preparing the attack. However, just as she was about to move she was bowled over.
"Never let your opponent at your back, that was foolsihness, do it again"
Grumbling under her breath she gave him a stare, which ignored, making hand motions for her to carry on. Falling back into her stance, she continued to look at him, moving forward towards him. A small smirk grew on his face, he knew what she was going to do, she turned quickly, drawing her leg up and thrusting it around in a heavy axe drop at his head, which he promptly avoided with his own spin, reversing his on body and sending another one back at her, which she leaned back far enough to avoid, but did not expect the carrythrough to his next one. His heel struck her hard in the chest, taking her to the floor.
"Next lesson, double Armada, get up, we have a lot of work to do"
