Walking into the streets, Kuro pondered taking the same route he had taken before, but decided otherwise. It was getting dark already, which meant the bars would be filling up, most likely full of loud middle aged men, the perfect type to start fights, something Kuro was told to stop.
Jogging down the road, Kuro turned around a corner and headed to a bar close to his own home. The dim lights could be seen to him already, and he could smell the scent of alcohol and sweat wafting out into the street. When he first reached the building nothing seemed out of order, but upon entering he could see the sloths as they moved about in a drunken stupor. One man close to the bar was reaching out, inches from a woman’s rear. As Kuro looked on the man grabbed her butt, something which made her squeal as she back away from the man.
“Come on baby! You’ve been flaunting it all day; you know you need a man!” he yelled at her as he stood up.
Turning around, she rushed into the arms of another obviously drunk man who spoke “YOU TOUCH MY WIFE? ILL TEACHES YOU SOME MANNERSSSSHH.” Reaching over the man grabbed his sake bottle and tossed it at the other man.
The other man, obviously to slow to react simply too the hit to the face, cause his nose to crack as he fell, blood spilling onto the floor. Slow to rise, the man was met by the other, who preceded to pound the man in the chest.
Deciding it was time to intervene, Kuro rushed forward and pulled the man off the other, who stumbled away from the feinted drunkard. “You defend disshh mongrel?” Reaching over he took a chair and started to pick it up, something which was halted as Kuro abruptly drew his naginata, spinning it in his hand over and over, striking the man on top of his head. Swaying in place, the man’s eyes rolled back as he collapsed into a pile.
Nodding to the barkeep, Kuro headed out. Surely more bars who be in need of cleansing in the same way…
Hours passed as Kuro went from bar to bar, knocking out drunkards and defending innocent women. Finally getting close to the end of his shift, Kuro began to head back when he heard a scream. Running around the corner e saw a middle aged woman, most likely drunk from her sway as she walked. “THEIF” she cried “HE TOOK MY SAKE! THIEF!” Looking in the direction the woman pointed Kuro noticed a slight shadow disappear from view.
Breaking into a run, Kuro reached the alley, rounding its corner; he could tell he was just seconds behind the thief. Rounding the second corner he discovered a young boy, no old than ten clutching a sake bottle. With the alley ending, the boy was trapped as Kuro held out his hand demanding it returned. Tears streaming down his face, the boy handed over the bottle before running past Kuro wailing. Smiling at the simple innocence of a child, he turned and walked out of the alley, approaching the woman who now sat upon the curb. “My hero!” She cried, taking the bottle and hugging him. “You know, if you really want to learn what it’s like to be a hero my place is just a few streets down! We could play hero AALLL NIIGHT!”
Shoving the woman off of him, he placed his hand on his face and proclaimed “I'm surrounded by DRUNKEN morons now…” as he head back to the tower.
