[Sanjuu Mountain; Nagaku's tomb.] [ Event. ]

Craggy and inhospitable the Sanjuu Mountain fills your gaze. The forboding shadows that fall from its peaks can only fill your soul with dread. Surely such a paragon of justice as Nagaku would be buried in somewhere that reflected the joyous light of his life? Yet, it matters not. A tomb is a tomb ; a monument to glories long past. During the long sojourn you find Dr.Fujiwara to be a rather..eccentric individual, caring only for the newest discovery. Also, it appears that your group is his only means of protection and excavation upon this expedition. Apparently the grant the doctor has received only barely covers the shinobi fee. Thus, he alludes to you may be having to do some back breaking labor in helping him recover any archaeological artifacts.

However, your journey through Ame No Kuni passes quickly. Through the verdant fields and up the slopes of Sanjuu you make your way. And soon, Dr.Fujiwara, shows you a hidden goat path, located in a particular treacherous stretch of the mountain. And from there you come into a small cleft, so to speak, in the mountain that gives you a beautiful, wide view, of the surrounding landscape. But, that’s not what draws your gaze.

A portal stands perfectly etched into the mountain sloping downwards in a narrow path before it is lost into darkness. Though the stonework is rough and slightly decrepit even your eyes can tell the meticulous craftsmanship that went into smoothing and laying the stones with care. Intricate calligraphy lies upon the threshold, written in a language you cannot perceive. Breathlessly Dr.Fujiwara translates in the merest of whispers, his hazelnut quivering ever so slightly.

” Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate…Abandon hope all ye who enter…”

Audibly heard swallowing the lump in his throat Dr. Fujiwara seems to tremble for a few moments before gathering his courage and wiping the perspiration that had gathered at his brow. Waving a meaty fist at your group he signals you to follow as he takes out three torches from his backpack, taking on for himself and passing out the other two, [ Decide amongst yourselves who gets the other two torches.] Lighting all of them with flinter and tinder. Zealous passion evident on his features he exuberantly yells.

” Come on now! Let’s go! Glory shall be ours!

With that said he strides off, quite quickly for a man his size, into the darkness of the doorway, his form disappearing as he swiftly makes his way down the sloping path. Although, in the dim fading light of his torch you can see the ivory white of bone imprinted upon the walls of the narrow pathway…a foreshadowing of events yet to come?

Brushing past the former Amekage who had been standing at the door, Ayaka got in front of everybody since she was the only Chuunin here. She made sure her backpack was secure on her back before looking at the guide who the team was following. He seemed to be a very influential man since he had yelled at the boys earlier for their petty arguments. Yes, the young, Sharingan-less Uchiha definitely thought that former Kage was the source of all the trouble. And to do something like this at his job was simply shameful. Ayaka was just unable to wrap her mind around that fact. She was a professional, and only a Chuunin; he used to be a Kage of Ame and acted like that? Pitiful.

Going up the mountain, Ayaka quite enjoyed the view, though she hadn't done any serious climbing for over a year so she did find herself tired out faster than she originally expected. However, never one to give up, she trudged on, not wanting to seem weak in front of those she was supposed to be in charge of. Yes, she realized that perhaps she wasn't the strongest, but she was still the highest ranked here so she liked to believe she had some authority in this situation. Changing her mind from her thoughts to reality, she looked at her host as he translated. Abandon hope? She had done that long ago when her people had been slaughtered in the Land of Fire. This scared here none.

Taking one of the torches, Ayaka followed silently. What awaited them in the depths of this hellish tomb?

Sanjuu Mountain

It was odd; despite the number of years that the boy had lived in this country, not once had his eyes gazed upon such a magnificent specimen of geography. Purple eyes stared onward towards the peak in awe at the mighty beast that was called Sanjuu Mountain. The route in which they were taking was trecherous; not that it bothered the boy. He walked with a relaxed aura about himself; not a care in the world.

Eventually, the long trek came to and end; they'd stand at the entrance of what was most likely the tomb. There was an eerie silence from beyond the darkness that resided in the tomb; it was too quiet. As the girl grabbed a torch, the boy considered doing the same, but ultimately declined the idea. I'll just use the light from her tourch...too hot to have one myself... he thought, following behind the woman.

As Kuro finally reached tombs supposed entrance he was not at all impressed. While the mountains had proved to be slightly impressive, the tombs entrance was more of a craggy hole with threatening auras leaking from it than the grand entrance he had expected. As they set out towards it, the old man had passed out two torches, one which was taken by the girl with the fan on her back, and the other was left to anyone who wanted it. Picking it up, Kuro handed it to the man whom had called himself Jason, explaining to him why he declined the torch. "I can make my own light... you should take it."

Turning away from the man he followed the others into the entrance. "Let the games begin" he mumbled, taking a breath before stepping into the perpetual darkness.

Following the group, Jason looked at the final torch, which was handed to him. He managed to slip his staff into its holster behind his back, and grabbed the torch. He wondered if the people here would underestimate him since he is not considered a ninja. But they would never understand his reasoning. He would never become a ninja again... Not after what had happened before in the Leaf Village.

Regardless, he held the torch so as to help the group light their way. He only hoped that he was not making a mistake here. If he happened to die here tonight, then who would be able to take care of his kids? He had to stay alive, for their sake if for no one elses.

Your journey downwards onto the core of Gaia is uneventful. The only thing that catches your eye are the variety of skull and skeleton motif's. Some shine with an alabaster hue, probably pointing to the fact they have come from real human remains. Then, a light is seen up ahead and suddenly you come into a huge, well lit hexagonal chamber, that you estimate to be fifteen metres in radius. The crimson hue of the candles bathe the entire setting in an eerie scarlet hue. The walls are still decorated with the same variety of skeletol motif's. Yet, their is also a strange design of a gallant figure, raven haired and clad in the Amekage's raimnant on the ceiling, sapphires sparkling where eyes should be.

From the design you can only discern the figure using a massive type of ninjutsu upon the gates of some foreign shinobi village, obliterating it and the various shinobi that guard it. A testament to Nagaku's prodigious abilities.

Back to the chamber, no doors lead anywhere else into the tomb. It is, for all intensive purposes, a dead end. Yet, straight forward, about thirty metres, two gigantic stone statues lay side by side motionless and still. Perhaps they are for nothing more than aesthetic appeal, or perhaps they have a more sinister purpose... Between them lies a strange stone pedestal, an open tome upon it.

Imperiously Dr.Fujiwara strides to the center of the room, his loud voice reverberating off the walls.

" Well come on lads! We're archaelogists now! Their's obviously a secret panel or switch somewhere that will reveal the rest of the tomb! Lets go!"

Though the leader by rank, Ayaka was keeping to herself for the moment. She had the torch in one hand, waving it around so that the area was illuminated by the reddish-orange flames. She actually smiled to herself quite a bit, several miles underneath the ground by now. She felt a lot more at peace here, away from civilization, than when she was inside of a city or her own hidden village. There was nothing troubling her here, no corruption, no idiots to annoy her. No, here there were no rules and nothing was being disturbed. Well, this mission was ranked rather high so the Uchiha predicted it to be... unpredictable. Everything seemed fine right now, but chaos could ensue at any moment.

As they entered the chamber and the doctor began barking orders or whatever the hell he was doing, the young Uchiha's own lips parted. "Well, I know this is a mission, but there's no reason we can't get to know each other a little bit. After all, we are all working under the Rain Village for now so we should trust each other. Might come in handy if we run into any trouble... I don't want somebody not trusting me when my life is in their hands or vice-versa. I'm Uchiha Ayaka, a Chuunin from Ame." She looked around the room, keeping a moderately tight grip on the torch so that she could see the room. This place, though deep underground, was actually fairly well illuminated. It was... weird.

Looking at the statues, Ayaka walked up to them and placed a hand upon one of them. "Something is wrong about this... The pedestal is probably a trap... We should trigger it somehow..."

OOC: I has been over 1.5 days... so I guess I'm skipping as instructed. To Gun: If you come back any time soon feel free to post like my post wasn't their and I can just delete my post or whatever =/.

As Kuro entered the room he looked around. Resting upon the ceiling was a grand mural, with a man using ninjutsu to destroy his enemies. How appropriate he thought, looking down to see two statues. Between the two statues was a pedestal, and upon the pedestal rest a tome. As the girl with the Uchiha mark upon her back began to walk about the room, Kuro felt rather uncomfortable. Something was off in the room, perhaps a trap, or maybe some type of puzzle to move forward? Coming up with an idea he brought his hands together as he flashed through some seals. Five clones of himself would materialize around him, utilizing the dank air, floor, and walls for any possible moisture as well as whatever else was needed which he create created himself.

Deciding anything was possible he sent one clone back to the rooms entrance to look about their and watch guard. Two more would travel to the stone statues and begin to look about for anything out of the ordinary. The other two would accompany Kuro himself as he traveled to the pedestal, where he reached for the tome saying "perhaps some hint of what we must do lies within it..." Before he went any further he stopped, his hand just inches from the books cover. "Anyone argue with opening it?"

"I bet this place was pretty sharp when it was new...", the boy said as he paced about the room. Sure at this day and age, the place was not to far from being considered a fossil. Thus, there had to be treasures somewhere; great treasures. But, seeing as this was a tomb, there was always hidden dangers that one must transcend to acheive the reward.

THe Hozuki boy wandered aimlessly about the room, as his comrades did. There had to be some sort of switch of lever that needed to be pulled in order to reveal a secret passage of some sort. Gunryo was raised by thieves, and he'd seen his share of tombs. Most were more than what they appeared to be; and seeing as this was the tomb of a great Amegakure warrior, there had to be something good in here.

In time, one of the expeditioners would introduce herself. Being the polite fellow that he was, he'd resond accordingly. "The name's Gunryo."

Listening to the words that were being said, along with the introductions, Jason said to them "Well for those who didnt listen to me before, my name is Jason Arilani. I may not be an official of this village, but I have lived here for 10 years... I am a master of Phantasm genjutsu, and.... fire techniques." He said, preventing himself from saying Uchiha Fire techniques. He didnt quite want to reveal that yet, especially with another Uchiha with them.

"And personally, I would object to opening it.... It could lead to a trap. Why not let your water clone open it, and possibly relay the information back to you. Or just have it open it to see if it activates any traps..."[/color] He said, trying to be cautious about what was being done. But he had a feeling no one would listen to him as he continued to stand near the entrance and look about, still holding the torch, and waiting to see what might happen...

OOC: Seeing as how no one took action my post can be short XD , btw , read my last post and this post ^^ trust me!

The stillness and musty rancour of the tomb is almost stifling. Dr.Fujiwara waits as you talk amongst your selves, offering no opinion's or thoughts as you try to percieve the entrance or lever. It seems he's to lost in thought, his mind working furiously to find a way into the next part of the tombs. Of course, to do this he starts pacing across the chamber.

Then, suddenly his foot hits a depression and his short, squeak of surprise alerts you all. It seems he has hit a trap and you expect all manner of nefarious traps to lead you to a swift, and horrible end. Yet, for a few harrowing moments nothing happens. Then, a cavity opens within the ceiling, its location of no consequence. Melodious and oddly haunting a voice filters through the room.

" All that glitters is not gold ; your path lies within the eyes of the soul"

Could it be a new clue? Or perhaps its has a more sinister purpose

Sighing, Ayaka looked at the pedestal. "Well, I thought if I touched one of these statues, they would come to life and we would have some sort of epic battle. But it appears as if they are meant for decoration only, or I just haven't triggered them the right way." She looked around once more, taking random steps, before her eyes came back upon the tome. "Perhaps there is a map or something of that sort in there. At any rate," she was stopped dead in her tracks as a shrill shriek echoed across the chamber. She whirled about on her heel and looked, but it was too late. Their guide had been killed, probably triggered something in the floor.

"Open the tome," she directed towards the Ame ninja who had his water clones out. Taking planned, deliberate steps, Ayaka then stepped towards the walls. She put chakra in her feet and began to walk up the wall until she got into the cavity that had opened up. Perhaps there was something in there that would lead them to a new room... or perhaps the cavity there was nothing more than more rock. Ayaka didn't want to take any chances though; there was something in this room that would grant them further access. So, what was it?

As Kuro sent his clones about the room he jumped slightly in surprise as he approached the tome. A loud voice rang about the room as a small cavity opened in the ceiling. Halting his clone actions as he looked about the room, he sprang back slightly drawing all the clones around him. Smiling as he listened he realized something. Before he could speak the Chuunin from the village spoke up "open the tome" she spoke, directing the comment at him. A smile spread over his face.

"All well and good milady... but perhaps you should listen to the words. I do believe it is a riddle of sorts..." Deciding that it was better to listen either way, he sent one clone back towards the tome which it flipped open and glanced at. As the clone went through the actions Kuro began to heave the clones left behind atop one another, resulting in himself being atop a stack of bodies. Pulling from his vest, he drew his Bowie Knife, reaching up with his left hand towards the mural. Gently he would stroke the small blue sapphires with his empty hand.

Should nothing result from brushing them, he planned to pry them from the ceiling, using his knife as leverage. Before he plucked the prizes from the ceiling he would look about the room. "Any objections? They aren't gold but they still sparkle. It also states that the eyes are the key to the path we might be seeking."

Jason stood there as his words fell on deaf ears. Seems his trust was not with them at the moment, so at this point, Jason would keep his mouth shut. Instead, he walked over to the archeoligist and waited by him. In the event that something happened to him, at least he would have one person to keep care of him should it be needed. He felt that things would go bad, but since they didnt quite want to listen to him, Jason would remain silent.

Dr.Fujiwara would remain silent as the Ame team deliberated their actions, waiting for one of them to act. The bold one [ Kuro.] would cause the good doctor's eyes to bulge as he so brutally massacred the picturesque scene upon the ceiling by cutting out the glittering jewels. Yet, this bold move would pay off. On the far side [ straight from the entrance.] much grating and grinding would be heard and suddenly the wall would lift, revealing a dark passageway that let onwards into the enshrouding darkness.

Yet, the stone statues still remained. A seemingly tangible, malign aura exuding from their very presence. Had the theft of the jewels truly opened the way? Or was this a devious trap? What would the brave shinobi do next?

[Lulz. Misread your post and thought the archaeologist died for some reason. I'm dumb.]

Dropping from the ceiling, Ayaka looked at the entrance-way that had just opened up and then back to the tomb. She again instructed the one with all the water clones. "Open it. We shouldn't proceed ahead just yet. One of these things is a trap. It's either the opening that we have just triggered or it's that tome, but we have no clue which it is. Using a water clone to open the tome is the best thing we can do right now. If anybody has any objections, please speak them now." The Uchiha sighed slightly and took a few steps closer towards the archaeologist, not sure what to do. She wanted to open the tome, but she wasn't sure how the others felt. This was a game of patience and intellect; she wasn't retarded, but she wasn't the most patient person either. She looked at the tome with interested eyes and took a few steps closer to it. She whispered...

"Something isn't right..."

As Kuro finished his work with the murals eyes, he heard a grating noise below. Glancing over he saw that a new door had opened, the path which would most likely lead them further into the tomb. Smiling as he jumped of his clone pile he hit the ground with both feet, pausing as he stood tall once again. The Chuunin from the group spoke up, telling him to open the tome. After she had finished mumbling something about the wrongness of the situation he smiled. "Already on it when it comes to the tome." he said before glancing over toward his clone who was flipping through the pages like a man hungry for knowledge.

Kuro would walk over to the archeologist with a grin still on his face. "Perhaps you would like these?" he asked, offering the man the sapphires. Already by this time his clone had been flipping through many of the pages.

Jason continued to stand next to the archeologist while holding his torch. The entrance on the other side of the cavern made Jason a slight bit curious, but he still wouldnt move. It seemed that the one known as Ayake was taking charge here, and no orders were given to him at this point in time, so he waited where he stood, wondering what was going to happen next.

T'would appear as if the tome had no important conseqeunce, its surface bare. Perhaps the writing was hidden? But, it mattered naught. For clearly the path to the tomb lay open and bare for all to see. Dr.Fujiwara shirked at Kuro's offer, stating that " These are mere baubles compared to what we'll find in the next room!". Pushing onwards, caution thrown to the winds he would hurry down the new entrance, torchlight fluttering wildly as his sizeable bulk moved quickly. Would the shinobi from Amegakaure follow?

OOC: Short post...decided to forego some things in this room to push the event forward. Hope you enjoy my next post though ^^
