As I completely righted myself, standing back up straight and tall, the paper katana fading I'd have never imagined Kidate to attack my while my back was turned, and he didn't. Good thing he hadn't too, because if he had, I would have surely been in a bind. Luckily, our mutual understanding of one another didn't allow us to rely on such meaningless tricks, especially not when simply training. A smirk filled the expanse of my face, quite surprised his chivalry really went this far.
None the less, I'd try something new this time, focusing on something I had seen Kidate do several times before. Little did he know that he was the one from whom I mimicked various techniques, knowing only of their existence because of he accidentally revealing them to me. As I focused outward, I let me chakra pour outward in all directions, much like I had for the ninja spotting technique I had learned days earlier. With this complete, I like my chakra wander a bit, as I watched Kidate go into a familiar wind up routine, about to toss another random slash of wind at me. The event was so ironic that it was beautiful, I could experience the wind first hand.
The first two wind projectiles were evaded rather swiftly and easily, as most of the random projectiles that Kidate had shot at me during our training. However, I let the third get within inches of myself, my chakra capturing it's 'feel', as it passed by me, I nearly avoiding it. The feeling was that similar to the water release, though full of less 'substance'. Whereas the jutsu of the water release felt 'fluidized' and 'viscous', this just feel intangible and expansive. I captured the feeling in a snippet of memory, attempting to tether it down to the thought of 'expansion', the word, I hoped, would trigger the memory and allow myself to mimic the feeling. Eventually, I would grow passed even the need of the word. For now, I simply tried it out.
Once the danger had been averted I attempted to recall the word, 'expansion'. As in my mind I continued repeating the word, I expanded a vast amount of chakra from my hand once again, churning it about a central point, hoping to see some sort of visual stimulus, something to tell me I was on track. As I continued to mentally churn the chakra it became apparent I had become able to do so with increasing prowess. With every fleeting second came a bigger gust of wind, a small spiraling mass somewhat akin to a very miniature twister.
