Kicks:
[/li][/ul]Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves.
[/li][li]Meia Lua de Frente
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: D rank
Effect: Meia Lua de Frente is the basic, front kick, with the leg moving from the outside in. It is a useful attack but can also be used in combination with cartwheels and other acrobatic moves therefore working as an escape.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Coming from the Ginga you lift your rear/relieved leg and move it in a half circle motion. To maintain balance move your arms in the opposite direction, so you don't lose your orientation. Once you can't move your leg any further without turning away from your enemy, bend the kicking leg and pull it back into the position of the Ginga (parallel or step position). During the Meia Lua de Frente, your arms should always counteract (to) your leg movement.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves.
[/li][li]Queixada
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank
Effect: An outside crescent kick, done after a dodge/escape (entrada)
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: This kick (pronounced "kishada") is a great setup for kick combinations; common follow-ups are Queixada, Armada or jumped Martelos. Coming from the Ginga, you turn your body slightly inwards to prepare some centrifugal force for the kick. Don't let your arms hang down; keep them ready for loose protection of your head and use them to enhance the swing. Now throw your upper body around in the opposite direction while crossing with your rear leg behind your front leg. Take off your (old) front leg; It should fly in an arc without any muscular effort if you produced enough rotational power with your upper body. Your final position now mirrors the stance you started with, so you can easily do another Queixada in the other direction.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves.
[/li][li]Raiz
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: "C" rank
Effect: A raiz is a type of kick used in contemporary regional. It could be described as a sideswipe with less rotation, so the practitioner lands on the rear leg from the take off instead of the kicking leg. However, in terms of tricking, the raiz is not a kick, but rather an evasive move aimed to avoid an attack toward the legs. The set-up for the raiz is exactly like the 540 kick, but the technique required for a successful raiz is similar to a Double Leg. In starting this move, the practitioner turns slightly sideways at the waist with the arm-swing motion. Once the set-up is accomplished, the first leg is thrown straight up while having the head thrown back.. This motion causes the practitioner's back to become parallel to the ground. The first leg travels around like a Double Leg and the second leg trails behind it. The first leg lands first on the ground and the second leg lags behind. The second leg should not be rushed, but rather be relaxed and let it fall by itself.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: To execute with the right leg, one begins in mid-ginga stance, with the left leg back and the right forward. From this position, step slightly to the left with the right leg, shifting body weight onto the forward (right) leg while the body faces left. Immediately bring the left leg forward, crossing it behind the right while beginning to throw body weight forward to gain momentum. When the body weight is fully resting on the left leg, release the right leg, kicking it in a large, sweeping arc to the right, keeping the leg straight throughout. When the kick has been completed, the capoeirista is now in mid-ginga stance, except now with the right leg back and the left forward. Throughout this move one must always remember to guard his or her face using the thick part of the forearms (as is done in all capoeira moves). Reverse all directions (left-right and vice versa) in order to execute a queixada with the left leg.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves.
[/li][li]S-Dobrado (Chapéu de Couro, Doublé-S):
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank/ D Rank To Learn Variation.
Effect: A sweeping leg motion that can lead into any number of different kicks
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: This technique allows dozens of variations. To perform this kick from the Ginga simply grab the ground with your left hand; dive down on your left leg and pull the other one in a circular motion around in front of you (Alternatively to the Escopado you can also opt for a Rasteira now). Then shift your weight over your right hand and drag up your right hip in one continuous, fluid motion . At this point you may decide either to continue the Escopado or to jump a Macaco (Be creative!!). For the Escopado keep your hips wide open, don't ever bend your hips! Pull your right hip up, then let it gently float to the right and put your right foot finally down in front of you. The kick itself is executed with the left leg which is dragged behind the rest rest of your body. Remember to hit with the instep. If done right, the striking leg will fly by and you can turn further to face your partner again. The whole sequence consists of one single fluid motion; until the very end, your right leg never touches the ground. Keep the movement round, avoid any edges.
Variations:
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves.
[/li][li]Benção
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: D rank
Effect: A stamp kick. Can also be done from a Queda de Quatro or Queda de Tres
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: A straight kick that still requires some skill. Pull up one knee and hunch your torso as if you tried to grab your partner. Then slowly stretch your lifted knee and drag your virtual opponent behind.Hit with the sole. Don't try to snap; don't kick soccer-like. The leg does not come directly from the ground, that would make your intention visible and leaves you prone to counter attacks. When you lift it first, your partner doesn't know whether a Bencao, a Martelo or some other mean kick will follow. And once again: You should be able to push your partner away not get him bruised.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves.
[/li][li]Chapéu de Couro, Doublé-S
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: B rank/ D Rank To Learn Variation.
Effect: A counterattack.
Special:---
Drawback: ---
Description: Drop into an esquiva, with the supporting arm close to the knee of your front leg. Sweep the back leg around while shifting your weight onto the other leg, and swapping supporting hands. Once the sweeping leg gets to the front get onto your hands by arching back in a Macaco type motion, but with the head going slightly towards the grounded hand instead of straight back like in a Macaco. Try to let your body spin on the first hand a little before placing the next one. You can keep walking yourself around as much as you want by continuing to transfer your weight from hand to hand, usually in 45 degree steps.
Variations:
[/font]
- Parafuso
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank
Effect: A very high double spin kick, basically an armada followed by martelo in midair. A variation on the better known Hurricane or Tornado kick.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Once you've got the basic double kick, which is like an armada jumping into a martelo, or meia lua de frente with the other leg, you can try to speed it up. Just lean further back, which takes alot of guts, and really whip the second leg, the goal being to land on both feet, or just on the kicking leg. Its much easier if you bend the armada leg once you are in the air, and kick the second leg like a meia lua as you learn, then when you are better, as a martelo, because its a faster kick. Another thing to remember is that the second kick doesn't have to be high. Aim for height with your jump and then speed for your kick. For more height, you swing your arms in a circular motion before the jump.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. - Meia Lua Reversăo
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank
Effect: A Meia Lua de Compasso that follows completely through, using the standing leg as an extra kick. Can also be done vertically, so it's like meia lua to a forward walkover. Meia Lua Reversão done Vertically 2
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: This move is good for beating a rasteira. Begin just like a Rabo de Arraia/Meia Lua de Compasso, but you use the momentum of the kick plus a hard push up from your support leg to get you off your feet. You then twist your hips in the direction of the kick while pushing off with your shoulders. Keep your legs spread and try to land on your kicking leg. Keep going with the momentum so that you end up facing your original direction. The move is easier if you know how to do a front handspring because the kick back, and push-off timing are basically the same. Once you can do it, try to keep your eyes on your opponent as you do it.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. - Parafuso
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank

Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. - Jumping Martelo Rotado
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank
Effect: Done like a Parafuso, only the first leg to come up stays bent. Can also be done by landing on the kicking foot
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Now the common jump kick of Capoeira, the Martelo Rotado. Not too difficult if you practiced the other kicks before. You start as if you did an Armada- do everything as described there; twist your upper body so that you get your partner back into view and to generate lots of tension. Unleash the tension by taking off your first leg (the kicking one if you did an Armada). However, keep it bent now. Lean back a little with your torso and jump off with your support leg. Open your hips on the side of your second leg, don't bend them there. As you spin around, the second leg gets dragged behind. Since it is the kicking leg, try to execute the strike in the same way as with the standing Martelo Rotado. Keep it bent at first, then pull it powerfully around (where it gets stretched and hits like a whip). Hit with the instep- watch the descriptions of the normal Martelo. Don't kick with your foot pointing up (like Armada, Meia Lua de Frente etc.). Now while the second leg flies around you gently land on your first leg. Pull down your second leg and put it to rest behind. Rotate (both feet now grounded) till you face your enemy again.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. Must have Martelo to Perform the Martelo Rotado - Aú Batido (L-Kick)
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank/ D Rank To Learn Variation.
Effect: An overhead kick, hand-plant on the ground, used as a Blocking/Kick Move.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description:an aú variation where a practitioner does a handstand, followed by a twist with the hips and a split. Aú batido literally means "broken cartwheel". This movement is a defensive move, used when attempting to perform a cartwheel and the opponent attacks, generally with a cabeçada, a headbutt, the aú batido takes place, attacking the opponent by surprise before the attack is executed. The aú batido is sometimes also used in doubt or simply as a trick move. This move is also performed in tricking, and for quality, it is also used often in breakdancing where it is known as the L-kick.
Variations:- Elbow Aú Batido- Same kick but using your elbow or forearm
- Aú Batido Switch- An Aú Batido but you switch hands after the first and do a reverse one. Also can do it to a slanted aú
- Dual Aú Batido- An Aú Batido that brings both legs together
- Elbow Aú Batido- Same kick but using your elbow or forearm
- Meia Lua Reversão 2
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: D rank
Effect: A Meia Lua de Compasso that follows completely through, using the standing leg as an extra kick. Can also be done vertically, so it's like meia lua to a forward walkover.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---

Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. - Escorpião
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: D rank
Effect: A low scorpion kick, when very low to the ground you kick up your heel to fend off an attack.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Mind you this is not a very common attack and it should only be used if you are very certain that it will surprise/hit/leave you unharmed. Do a sidestep dodge, step slightly forward. Duck as if you simply want to evade a move, then put both your hands in front of you. Now jump up into handstand but but keep your legs drawn up, ready to explode. Twist your hips towards the other player. Extend your legs suddenly into his direction. Now don't try this step by step but instead in a continuous motion without a break, like a spring you drop down, get small and then shoot out with force. The problem with the move is that you break the basic handstand rule of Capoeira of never showing your back to your opponent, but if it is done in the proper situation every thing's fine. Again, you should keep eye-contact with your enemy throughout the movement. This is much easier if you start with your opponent is not directly to your front but more to the left or right, therefore the sidestep dodge in the beginning. At the end you should get down as fast as possible because you are in a very vulnerable position; don't simply drop down but draw you legs up again actively and with force while going down.
Variations:- Escorpião- A Higher ranking form of the move that will allow the user, to not only kick the user once. But launch their other leg up kicking the opponent, for a double hit.
- Escorpião- A Higher ranking form of the move that will allow the user, to not only kick the user once. But launch their other leg up kicking the opponent, for a double hit.
- Armada
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: "C" rank
Effect: None
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: An armada can be either a Rabo-de-Arraia without the hands supporting on the floor (the head falls below the waist and the kick is executed with the heel), or a Meia-lua-De-Costas (halfmoon from the back), a spinning kick with the body upright. However the general meaning of this technique is a spinning inside to outside crescent kick. The striking surface is usually the outside blade of the kicking foot. A queixada and armada are executed in the exact same way with the exception of the armada beginning with a step to the right or left before releasing the kick. The power of the armada actually comes from the torque placed on the hips from the spin. After stepping across the body (to the right or left) at around 45 degrees, the hips are spun while the arms are up to protect from punches or other kicks. Once there is enough torque, the kicking leg is "released" rather than kicked. The leg goes around in the same motion as a queixada until the kicking leg is placed all the way back or parallel to the other foot.- Armada com Martelo - It is a spinning double kick. You begin with the same movement of the Armada (Meia-Lua-de-Costas). While the first leg is raised up, you jump off the back leg. Once the first leg completes its arc, the leg that you jumped off with comes around in the form of a jumping martelo em pé.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. - Armada Dupla 2
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank/ D Rank To Learn Variation.
Effect: A high round kick with both legs together
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Starting from your ginga, step forward with the back leg like you are doing a Parafuso. You then step around with the other leg to bring both feet together while swinging your arms around and downward in a circular motion. Keep the arms swinging so that they are now going around and upward. Twist your torso toward the direction of the jump, and lean back. When you feel your body rising, kick hard off both feet. Remember, the swing of your arms is the key to height. Another thing to keep in mind is to go forward, not straight up, because that make it harder for your legs to rotate.
Variations:- Armada Dupla Flip- Instead of going around, as you go down in a circular motion. Go backwards and then jump over.
- Armada Dupla Split Flip- Same as above but split legs in midair.
- Armada Dupla Flip- Instead of going around, as you go down in a circular motion. Go backwards and then jump over.

Type: Taijutsu
Rank: "C" rank
Effect: None
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Chapa, the sole of the foot, is a generic term for various straight kicks with the bottom of the foot. This kick can be used in a roda to push away the other player for distance. These include:- Chapa-de-Frente - A straight kick facing the opponent sometimes performed from a Queda de Quatro, pushing with the hips to gain greater extension. It has the look of a Bençao given from a Queda de Quatro.
- Chapa Giratoria - Capoeira’s answer for the reverse side kick. It is done is the same way as ban dae yeop chagi in TKD with the capoeirista stepping forward or diagonally while turning his torso. At the same time he raises his back leg up, unleashing it at the apex of the turn in a straight path.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. - Chapa-de-Frente - A straight kick facing the opponent sometimes performed from a Queda de Quatro, pushing with the hips to gain greater extension. It has the look of a Bençao given from a Queda de Quatro.
- Chapa de Costas
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank
Effect: A mule kick, done with one leg or two. Normally used in Angola
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Aim for the groin or head. If the other one is far off, don't simply stretch your leg but work with your arms and standing leg as well to achieve a long range. With that you will achieve full force, and will send a powerful blow to your enemy sending them to the ground in pain.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. - Chapéu de Couro, Doublé-S
Variations:- Handstand spin aka 1990 aka Piăo de Măo,- keep your legs apart as you raise into the handstand, then bring them together in a circular motion after you have transferred your weight onto your second hand, which you should then be spinning on. The best place to spin on your hand is on your palm heel, opposite your thumb.
- Head spin aka Piăo de Cabeça- keep your legs apart as you raise into the handstand, lower onto your head then bring them together in a circular motion. Only try this if you already know how to head spin.
- Handstand spin aka 1990 aka Piăo de Măo,- keep your legs apart as you raise into the handstand, then bring them together in a circular motion after you have transferred your weight onto your second hand, which you should then be spinning on. - Gancho
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: "C" rank
Effect: None
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: The gancho lit. hook, is a hook kick. It is a deceptive attack that starts off in the same way as a martelo or roundhouse kick. The knee and thigh of the kicking leg is brought up and across the body in a diagonal direction. Instead of thrusting in and out like a chapa, the leg is extended toward the body and thrust out in a hooking motion striking with the heel or sole. The path of the heel ends near the buttocks and hamstirng as it is brought down. There are other ways of using it such as fake martelos into in or from fake chapas. Because of its deceptiveness, the name gancho is perfect for it since it can sometimes act as the hook for a bait attack that is seen far too late.- Gancho Giratoria - A spinning version of the gancho. It starts out like a spinning chapa but deceptively lashes out and hooks around in the same manner as the gancho.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. - Martelo
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank
Effect: A high snap kick, aka roundhouse.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Common kick in Capoeira Regional. It requires good stretching of the legs and a fair sense of balance. Looks very simple yet it needs constant training. Lift your knee as it is seen in the Bencao movement. Turn for about 90-180 degrees on your foot ball; keep your kicking leg's knee at roughly the same position. Remember to turn your hips as well. Lean back a little to keep balance. If done right, your hips should be aligned parallel with your kicking leg. Your thigh should point straightly at your target (shoulder/head area). Contrary to the other kicks mentioned above, you now have to snap quickly with your lower leg. Hit with the instep. To prevent spinning away from your opponent move your arms in the opposite direction - just compare diagramm 2 to 3 (this protects head area as well). Put your leg down again..
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. - Martelo do Chao
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: B rank
Effect: A Martelo done from a role
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: The Martelo do Chao is a deceptive and powerful weapon with several defensive and offensive options built into its execution. Moving into an esquiva position, next, fluidly of course we bring the left leg around to the front this motion is also a sweep known as Corta-Capim, moving on we place the left hand to the ground and placing our body- weight over it we swing the right hand to the left following a path over the head, all the while our left leg is swinging upward as if to kick (this movement can also be a check to the opponents body or kicking leg) the momentum created from the overhead swing the lifting of the leg and your body weight place allows you to suspend yourself temporarily on your left arm and also adds power to your attack. The kick can attack the head and the infinite variations of this movement allow you to attack any target.
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. Must have Martelo to Perform the Martelo do Chao. - Martelo Rotado
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: B rank
Effect: A 360 roundhouse, while you whip the leg and turn completely around.
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: Basically you do the Martelo but pull your leg violently through and slam it into the ground right behind you. This kick has to be done fast and with force. First, lift up your knee. Then turn on your foot ball while stretching out your kicking leg, gain momentum by pulling with your hips. Wave your arms around the other way . Instead of putting the leg down you pull it powerfully down to the ground behind you, accelerating all the way. Keep your head at facing your partner until the kicking leg rests on the floor. Now throw your upper body around and go back into the Ginga. Although this explanation makes the move sound rather stiff it's a very smooth and fluid motion with no stop in between. .
Limit: Only a Mestra or a Contra can teach a Calouro these moves. Must have Martelo to Perform the Martelo Rotado. - Meia Lua de Compasso
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: C rank/ D Rank To Learn Variation.
Effect: A spinning heel kick with one or both hands on the ground. one hand, and two hands. After you come up your arm should be guarding your face. Two Handed One
Special: ---
Drawback: ---
Description: When you step behind during the Ginga, keep your feet where they are and shift your weight over your front leg (by stretching your rear leg). Bend your upper body inwards and down. Reach down with your hands until your hips can't get twisted any further; drop your head so you can keep constant eye-contact with your partner. By now great energy should be created by the tension you built up. Unleash this power by taking off your rear leg; it should fly around in a quick half-circle without any muscular effort. Always hit with the heel! Once your kicking leg is aligned parallel with your upper body, finish the motion by rotating your entire torso until you face your partner again. Watch out that you don't get hit because of raising your head too early
Variations:- Meia Lua Queda de Rins- Same Meia Lua start but you fall onto your elbow like Queda de Rins
- Meia Lua Solta- (aka Chibata) A Meia Lua de Compasso with no hands, a spinning heel kick. Leg stays straight throughout.
- Meia Lua Pulada 2

Description: Coming from the Ginga you lift your rear/relieved leg and move it in a half circle motion. To maintain balance move your arms in the opposite direction, so you don't lose your orientation. Once you can't move your leg any further without turning away from your enemy, bend the kicking leg and pull it back into the position of the Ginga (parallel or step position). During the Meia Lua de Frente, your arms should always counteract (to) your leg movement.

Effect: A raiz is a type of kick used in contemporary regional.

Effect: A counterattack.

Variations:
- Handstand spin aka 1990 aka Piăo de Măo, keep your legs apart as you raise into the handstand, then bring them together in a circular motion after you have transferred your weight onto your second hand, which you should then be spinning on. The best place to spin on your hand is on your palm heel, opposite your thumb.
- Head spin aka Piăo de Cabeça- keep your legs apart as you raise into the handstand, lower onto your head then bring them together in a circular motion. Only try this if you already know how to head spin.
