1.) I will do requests. No, I won't charge you--that's dumb. No, I won't take every request, but typically, I will prioritize people that are nice or that are friends. I prefer to supply my own stock, as stock selection is a large chunk of how successful a tag is.

2.) I welcome comments, but I will comment back; if you're going to post something stupid, or try to tear apart my work, be damned sure you know what you're talking about. I know I'm good at what I do, so don't try to tell me otherwise just to make yourself feel better.

3.) Unless I post a tag with a name below it, it isn't taken, and you're free to use it--just ask, first.

Anyways, your sigs are really good, though not godly or nothing like that.

You wanna know why? I'll tell you why then.

1. A lot of the effects on the renders themselves makes them look dirty... and not in the good way. DX

2. Don't like the duplicated effects, seems like almost every one is a fairly plain background and multiple renders with one blended and chopped up a good bit behind the first.

3. Some of the renders are kinda difficult to see, the Rukia and black and white ones are hard to pick out due to the coloring, multiple renders hardly blended in, unneeded effects on the renders, and the sometime over the top stuff in the background.

4. No, little, or poor text on every single sig. If I didn't already know that the third was Rukia I wouldn't know that it's what the text said... and I can't even read the second sig's text.


But yes, your sigs are really good. I love the borders and the smooth color combination on the sig's backgrounds, plus some of the blending effects are really nice.

So if you get a chance, I would like to see what you come up with for my character.

You are welcome to simply use the description I have in my bio, but it might be easier to find something based on an existing character.

Nakamura is based roughly on Killua from the anime Hunter x Hunter. If you would rather use a picture of Allen Walker from the anime D Gray Man, that should work as well. If you do use Allen, an image of him later on in the series is preferable, i.e. after his final transformation.

This is going to be a carpet verbal. Keep the egos at the doors. There's a difference between Constructive Criticism and non Constructive Criticism. If you give Constructive Criticism, that is fine. And the one getting Constructive Criticism, you may not like it but don't turn it into personal attacks.

Bah; I should've done this from the very get go. I'll adhere to Heero's request to keep things civil, but at the same time, I'll respond to these critiques and explain my train of thought.

I'm not seeing that, and I don't agree. My coloring is fine. It isn't monotonous, and it isn't scattered whatsoever. Granted, I don't use a color wheel to pick complimentary colors, but those aren't the only types of colors that exist. Every color goes with another color, so long as you apply it correctly. -- Infact, for the majority of these tags, save 2-3, I used the color selector to take colors from the stock itself to create my effects and backgrounds. =)

There are no effects over the focals of the stocks themselves, and the rest, namely the splattering, is designed to give...a splattered look; this is intended, and part of my style. The fact that you don't like it is more an opinion and testament to your taste than it is a shot against my skills.

Don't like the duplicated effects, seems like almost every one is a fairly plain background and multiple renders with one blended and chopped up a good bit behind the first.

Another personal opinion; you don't like stutter-masking, I do. Backgrounds are typically simple smudges and texturing, because they aren't the focus of my design. Render stacking? Not really; its most pen-tooling and smudging, I might use 1 c4d per tag, if that. =)

Not to be insulting, but you're in the small minority if you have issues making out the stocks in either of those tags. In your last claim, you said my backgrounds were plain, and now you're saying they are over the top? Also, nice attempt at guessing my style, but you're pretty far off; the majority of my work is pentool/clipping marks and smudging; no point arguing with you over what was needed or not--again, matter of opinion =)

There are no rules to making tags; they're art. They're an expression of their designer. By that very token, there doesn't have to be text in a piece, nor does text have to be visible. For the most part, my text is small and hard to decipher because it acts more for a watermark than it does something to read--when its at that size, it becomes increasingly difficult to accurately remove, making a tag much more difficult to rip =).

I love the borders and the smooth color combination on the sig's backgrounds, plus some of the blending effects are really nice.

Thanks; I like to experiment with my borders a lot, and coloring and blending are typically my strong suits, because of my smudging and gradient masking.

So, while I do enjoy the <3 you've given my thread, I'd prefer you keep your personal preferences to yourselves. I didn't ask for criticism, so I'm sure you both understand how I feel when I suddenly see someone coming in here and doing nothing but immediately dissecting my style and nit-picking at things that are really nothing more than areas of opinion. A quick comment about not liking something is one thing, so is a post critiquing a few things that are more technique than they are style...a long winded post about things you don't like, but that are more a case of personal preference, is different.

=) How would you feel if I were to show up in a thread where you were trying to show someone your work, and I picked out every single flaw in it, even if I did sugarcoat it by saying "oh, but nice job" at the end?

It seems I said what I felt in the wrong way. I didn't mean your coloring, I meant your contrast/brightness is off in a lot of them. Your rukia sig (In the first post) is completely over brightened in every area, giving the coloring a bad look. The third sig in your second post is completely over contrasted. So much empty space and over contrasting makes it just kinda boring.

Of course, this is all just my opinion.
