"The first step to eternal life is, you have to die."
Long brown tresses hang down to the small of her back, styled surely into a bow like shape with two pink barrettes and a pink ornament pinning the side swept bangs in place. Faint purple eye shadow draws wandering glasses to the almond shaped brown eyes set under perfectly arched brows. A straight nose shows no signs of a break and pale lips are more likely to smile than to frown. Opalescent ovular earrings hang over an inch below her piercings. A gold band is secured about her left forearm, one she is unwilling to remove.
Her garments are something strange, the high collared top and short sleeves are distinctly Chinese. The colors are a mixture between cream and fawn brown, a grey bow and trim adding life to the otherwise plain garment. Instead of being a traditional Chinese dress however the top stops an inch above her belly button. Around her hips is a matching skirt without the trim of the top. The skirt while seemingly not practical is designed to hide pockets and allow movement. Simple straw sandals life her three inches from the ground but are usually substituted for simple brown slippers.
"Death doesn't bargain."
Pragmatic On several topics, namely death Nishiko has proven to be very pragmatic. She likes results not theory or speculation. Oddly she does not seem to be playing god when it comes to taking peoples lives. She gave the very simple answer ‘it is what it is’. She believes that everyone has to die, if she did not kill a person someone else would kill them. It is this particular attitude that makes her a frightening person.
Discerning Nishiko has proven to be quite intelligent. Beyond basic knowledge she has a very discerning eye and a knack for reading people, she was able to tell of various people and their feelings or relations by simply glancing at them. Her ability to read people and situations is profound and something one would expect from a scholar, not a trained assassin. This skill will come in handy I am sure.
Determined Is there is one trait bound to help Nishiko go far it is her determination. She enjoys a challenge whether it be training or taking out an assigned mark. Her skills grow by leaps and bounds simply because she refuses to let herself fail at anything. She has no desire to be the best, only to be the best she can, not letting anything stand in her way. She does not have a bloodthirsty streak however; she prefers to rely on trickery and deceit.
Blank Slate Nishiko is an actress, born to defy a lie detector because she does not consciously know the truth. She has no memories and no past, she cannot tell you her heritage or her location because she has never known them, she keeps herself in the dark to keep others in the dark. Beyond that she has the innate ability to tune out anything she does not wish to pay attention to, from ambient noises to the sounds of another’s voice.
"Death is the end of one story and the beginning of another."
Lost… found in the desert, no more than five years old, curled under a palm tree and very near death. What if I had not been crossing that desert? I wonder to this day what would have happened to that girl. I found her there with nothing but a bracelet bearing the date May fifth. A shiver ran down my spine as a poem from years ago entered my mind: The fifth of May is Saint George’s day, when midnight tolls the devil has its sway. Who was this child? I took her in my arms, she didn’t even wake. She would have a new life… a life at the least.
It was eight days before she really woke. Sometimes she would awaken for a minute, taking water and protesting as she grew thinner but finally she woke. I fed her, she ate thankfully. We talked, she seemed intelligent for her age but lacked memories of her past, and she didn’t care either, she was happy to be where she was and was reluctant to leave my sight. I gave her the name Nishiko, Child of the West since that is where I found her. Thus she became mine, my protégé. I trained her, she was eager to learn, she wanted to know it all. When she came of age I urged her to enroll in the academy to further her learning, and she did.
She passed with flying colors but her training did not come from academy teachers, it came from me. Her knowledge grew by leaps and bounds and I knew then that she would one day surpass me. She was destined for greatness, I could see this. She had everything it took and she trusted no one save for myself. She has continued working on becoming an ANBU member, more so an ANBU member of four divisions something no one had done before to my knowledge. What will come of this strange girl? Even I do not know what to make of her.
