Taisen had put this off long enough. That pirate captain that Akiko turned in had been stewing in his cell for a while now, and was probably about ready to say anything just to see some sunlight again. Plus, with their leader incapacitated, the pirate attacks along the coast have reportedly lessened a great deal, but not entirely ceased. It seemed unlikely that this guy was the only pirate captain tooling around the channels between Water country's minor islands, but it was likely that he had run-ins with them and could provide some information about them.
Taisen was a ninja, albeit a large and particularly unstealthy one, and thus pirates were his mortal enemies. Plus, his first real encounter with them had been simply the aftermath of a brutal raid. As hard as he tried, as strong as he was, he was only able to save one person. That person was Akiko, and while he was glad to have met her he was still racked with guilt at not being able to save anybody else. He became her hanai makua kane, her adopted father, because of that guilt. She had nobody else, and he blamed himself for not being good enough to stop it.
But with this bastard in chains there was a chance that Taisen could track down the perpetrators and finally avenge his adoptive daughter's ma'ke ohana, her dead family. He instructed the guards to move the captain into the interrogation cell, meanwhile hiding himself in the darkness within. Instead of the usual chair with straps there was a solid steel table with a solid steel chair before it, both bolted to the ground firmly. They sat the captain down in the chair and told him to wait there because there was someone who wished to speak to him.
There was a single light on, directly above the table pointing down at the filthy-looking prisoner, and everything outside of the cone of light was pitch dark. Covering the distance between the wall and the table in one stride, Taisen grabbed the captain's hair and slammed his face down on the solid table with enough force to dent the surface. The captain's eyes crossed and he slumped forward with his chest on the table.
Taisen however, was right on him. Grabbing him by the back of his rags, he tossed him against the two-way mirror forcefully. When the captain removed himself from the glass, Taisen slammed his head back against it and spider-webbed the reinforced glass. When the captain dropped, the mizukage grabbed him by the shirt and lifted him off the ground with ease. While the captain coughed and sputtered in pain and shock, Taisen began the questioning.
"I want the names and ports of call for every single one of your little buddies. Get talking, or you'll never see the sun or the ocean again," well, maybe questioning isn't the right word. But, after months in near-total darkness and his first human interaction being a face-slam from a superhuman, the captain had nothing left with which to resist. He told Taisen everything, the words spilling out of him like the blood from his slightly-concussed skull, and by the time he was done Taisen knew that there wasn't much time left to act.
"Arrange for his release, but make sure he never sails again," was the last thing he said to the ANBU before leaving the facility and returning to his office to develop a plan of action.
