Drawback: The opponents lighting techniques have a chance of being amplified if the user stands to close to the rods, thus causing significantly more damage to the user of the rods. The techniques can be amplified by as much as one full rank depending on how many of them (as more than one are created) the user is within one meter of.
Description: Using this technique one can flood a field with ten miniature lighting rods, approximately five inches high, made of sand that attract lightning-charged chakra. The amount of rods one can produce is increased by five with each rank. This field can be no wider than the maximum distance at which one can control sand, spacing is entirely up to the user. Ninjutsu masters can keep the rods active for five posts with a resting period of two posts, ninjutsu specialists can keep the rods active for three posts with a cool down period of three posts, ninjutsu non-specialists can keep the rods working for one post with a cool down period of four posts. When first learned the user is able to cancel all lighting-based attacks of D-rank or below, when the user learns the B-rank version all lightning jutsus C-rank and below are canceled, at A-rank all lighting techniques below B-rank are nullified, and at S-rank all lightning jutsus A-rank and below are canceled until the rods fall apart.
Limit: Must have Sand Release. Must have Sand control rank equal to the rank you wish to learn.

Beginning

Such a sunny day in the Land of Water, me being in the middle of the village making my way back home, thinking what to do with my life right now. I have heard that there was a meeting taking place right now at the Kage Tower, something that, to be honest I was not very interested to assist, that is why I decided to stay outside it and walk through the village streets just in case something bad may happen, after all, being in a village known by everyone filled with lots of Kages certainly made a temptation for the head hunters, at least I was not alone, there were several others all around the village just in case something would come up.

Meanwhile I would stare at the sky, nothing to do, after a couple of hours nothing much have happened, in fact, it was a pretty normal day, in the village nothing was happening, I could not say the same about the Kage Tower because I really didn't know what was going in there, that is when I would realize it, nothing would happen today, I would then start to think about my own future, I decided that I should start a journey however, before doing that I needed to do two things, one of them was to gather a team, something that would not be possible to do right now due to the event taking place in the village and almost everyone being busy with it, and the other one, was a training.

Thinking on what to train I would realize something else, if I would start a journey I should be able to defend myself, sadly I was not a very offensive character at all, in fact I was more of a supportive - defensive character than anything else, true, I had some offensive techniques and some other combos here and there, however was not enough. Of couse, I had something in mind, those that will be my future teammates would surely be something I am not, and by that logic I was pretty sure that they would expect the same about me, so then I would decide that the best would be to perfect my own fighting styles and not to get a overall, because if that would be the case my teammates would find me useless for being good a several things but not a master of anything.

With that in mind I would then start the training, I had a vast knowledge of several releases and perceptions, after all, I was a specialist in those areas, I could not say the same about the clans or the taijutsu, but it didn't really matter, as I stated in the past, I hope my teammates be something I am not. And with that reasonment I would then decide to start my "Null and Void" training, I knew that the correct teammates would be the ones that will not only be able to use their own skills but to protect themselves and probably, their own teammates against the same techniques, after all, they are supposed to be specialised into that.

So, I would make sure to be able to give the same skills and abilities I was expecting to get from my future teammates, that is why I would start the said training. To begin it I would pick a very easy technique, one that would allow me to null certain techniques of a certain release. This time the lightning one, making sure that if I would not be able to perform said release'ss techniques at least my opponents would not be able to. This, would be in fact, a very easy one, something I would quickly learn with just a couple of tries, after all I was a master of this release, however I knew something else, this technique was not a perfect one and I will need to learn it more than once to really make it useful. Time to achieve it

Now time to get hands dirty, I had spent a few minutes thinking about the whole technique, but not really had done something about it yet. I would just then start to do it in the old way. Forming a quick string of handseals, maybe not the best, or maybe not the one needed for the technique itself, but with my knowledge on this release I could easily come up with a universal string of handseals that would possibly work with every single technique of the sand release, however just like I said. Maybe not the best one, there could be better ones, something that I was pretty sure about it, but still, this could work right now, just to get used to the technique itself.

Once I would do this, I would mold some chakra, trying to remember what I learned at the academy I would try to mold it the correct way, making sure to not was a single drop of chakra, or well, whatever te chakra is cuantified. It would only take me a few minutes, once that would be over, my chakra and my handseals formation would be acting in a unisono, as if working as the perfect team. This would end give me the needed tools to make a pseudo technique, however, I had forgotten the most important thing about it, how would I be able to do such a thing without the materials needed for any sand release technique, sand...

Then I would stop doing what I was doing and begin with another chain of handseals, one that would end up with a transformation of the ground, causing it to be transformed into sand and stop being the earth it was on the past. Once enough sand would be created from the ground I would then, re-start my previous training. It would only take a few seconds for it to happen, nothing to really worry about. Then, I would repeat the same proccess as before, forming a universal handseal formation and molding some chakra that would work with the technique would be just fine, in no time I would end up with some kind of rod created out of the sand, the bad thing about it, it was only one.

It may be due to the lack of a correct handseal formation, I was not sure about it, I would just continue to do the same over and over again, making sure to notice everything I could about the technique, the chakra used, and even the handseals about it, I would surely be able to eliminate some useless handseals from my formation. After a couple of minutes, I would be able to form four rods, they were supposed to work as expected, still not sure about it. But yet, this technique was not a perfect one, I needed to train it several times before be able to see a real effect on them. [/font]

Well, that was not hard at all, but what could I expect, it was only a low ranked technique, I knew I would be able to learn it in no time, don't want to sound bad it is true. I am not only a high ranked shinobi specialised in the art of chakra molding, but at the same time I am a master of the discipline the technique belongs to, it would be something anyone else would be expecting by knowing those facts. Then I would just procceed to something else, the time to perfect this technique. I knew something for sure, the more rods the better the technique will be, however there was still something more difficult about it, it was not only the fact of increasing the number of rods, I still needed to have a better knowledge about it.

For this I would make my way through the village until I would reach the library, there I would inmediatly go to the release section, I knew about this technique thanks to my academy days. In there the teachers, which in fact are Chuunins or higher, mostly Chuunins, teach us every possible fighting way, this means offensive, defensive, supportive, balance, and the one that caught my attention, the null one. There they taught us a few techs, well, not really taught, but told us about their existance. Some of them I have already learned them, some others I am training right now, just like this particular case, as well, some other that are not open to public knowledge, and finally, the ones that are still to be created, hoping that one day I will have mine.

In there I would take the sand release book, going straight directly to the technique I was training right now, it was weird how one release can affect other directly, just like the technique of the water release I have to nullify the fire ones, or like the wind one that works in a very universal way but sadly, only works with low ranked ones. This one, being in the sand release affected the lightning release, how weird was the world. I have heard as well a rumor about a secret release, one that dealed with the mastery of the earth one, something that I already had, but that at the same time could be achieved by the conjunction of sand and lightning, something not sure about.

That made me think about the current releases, I knew that you could just combine release and form a new one, just like the case of the sand release, being a fusion of earth and wind, also heard something called the paper release, never seen it, just hear it, said to be a very powerful one, and to be said to be delivered from the wood one, an already advanced release, it surely would bring something powerful, after all, if it was already an advanced one it could only end up with a more powerful one, now I wondered, if sand was already an advanced one, along with the lightning one, which may not be an advanced one but a very powerful one, could only end up with something really powerful, I should make sure to learn more about it later on.

Either way, I would start the reading of the technique. I knew a few thing about it, and after the reading I would be able to have a better knowledge about it, probably giving me the correct formation of handseals, well, not really probably, that was a must. After all, every single technique indexed on a book that can be found at the library, had the handseals needed for it listed somewhere in the technique's descritpion. As I would continue my reading I would notice something about it, something that changed my perception of the technique, I thought that only one more time would be needed to learn it, however I was wrong. It seemed that this technique continued until it can be considered as an S rank technique. [/font]

Understanding

Just as I expected, this technique could be used as such a basic technique and just like an advanced one, quite a game we had in here. According to the description given to me by the librarian and by just reading the book, a description that was way more detailed than the one I had on mind when first learning this technique. The true purpose of this is nullifying the whole effect and damage the lightning technique could cause, despite it sounded very basic and not difficult, the real hard part was on increasing the rank of the technique, after all, just like I thought in the past, this technique not only consisted on creating more sand rods and voila, there was much more than that behind the technique.

One thing that I must keep on mind was to never lose the chakra control, the sand rods where just that, rods, and using more chakra than the really needed would make them to dissapear, this due to the excessive amount used, and since they are just made of sand they would just fall apart due to the lack of consistency. Another thing I had to keep in mind while talking about the chakra control was to use enough, if I would not use enough then the rods would not be able to contain the needed amount of lightning, making it to be an even more deadly mistake than if I would just overuse chakra, the reason of this was easy, I would think that those rods were ready and the truth is that, they weren't.

That last part would make me vulnerable to lightning attacks, even more than before, because, at least, in the past I would know that those lightnings could hurt me and I would need to evade them as soon as possible, but now, it was another story, I would be thinking the lightning would do nothing to me, which would make me not think on a possible way to evade or block it. So in order to make this work I needed to work in the most important part of this whole technique, the chakra, yes, this seemed obvious and probably unneeded, but with all the previous reasoning I managed to understand how to properly train it and how to properly use it, making me a better sand user than before.

Before doing anything else I would need to start with the chakra warm up part, something that I tend to do almost all the times when I am training high ranked techniques, just like this one, the reason of this is simple, just like the body, the mind needs to get used to informatio to not have an overload, like when someone makes some warm up training to not suffer physical damage when doing the real excersice, I would then, do the same with the chakra, I would do some basic movements and manneuvers to make me get used to the chakra, not that I have never used the chakra, but to not get caught by surprise if I would have to use a huge amount of chakra during this training.

What this training will consist in would be easy and something everyone knows to do while on the academy, the way to mold and gather chakra in the feet while walking on water, however before doing this I would need to head back home, the reason was simple, there was no pool around, and who can blame them, I mean, I was on a library, a place to read, not a place to train. Making my way home I would carry the scroll, just in case I would come up with some doubts about the technique, I knew that this would only get harder and harder, and the reason of that was cuz' it was able to get improved over and over again, something that was good and bad at the same time, but that in the end, a higher version is always better, in any apect than a previous one.
