Greg looked up into the sky. It was a cloudy day, but not yet raining. Greg would wait for it to rain, and when it did Greg would really be able to get his training going. Greg was once again in a small part of the forest in the Rain Village. However, today he was learning a new technique. Often times he would come here and sit, but not today. Today was a day of hard work.
Greg looked into the sky once more before getting started. Greg formed the rat hand sign and then focused all of his chakra to his eyes. He kept it there, and he kept concentrating, until he opened his eyes and released it all. “Lightning Flash!” Greg shouted. He witnessed a little bit of light leave his eyes, but not much.
Greg tried it once more. Except this time he looked at the scroll he had to make sure he was doing it right. He was, he just had to keep working at it. Greg formed the rat hand sign, and then built up all of his chakra into his eyes. After a few more moments of building chakra Greg screamed, “Lightning Flash!” Greg opened his eyes quickly and a small wave of light shot out.
Greg didn’t think he was doing anything wrong. He just needed more practice. So Greg took out his gauntlet and thought, If I have to train anyways why not train with my gauntlet too?
Greg put on the gauntlet on his hand and ran at a tree. He smashed into it with his right hand, tearing apart of the bark of the tree. Then he turned around and formed the rat hand sign. He built his chakra up into his eyes and then opened his eyes and released it. “Lightning Flash!” Another small beam of light came out of his eyes.
Greg tried it again, and again, but each time he ended with the same result. After that Greg started climbing the tree using his gauntlet. Once he got to the top he would jump down and form the rat hand sign. Then he shouted, “Lightning Flash.” Another beam of light came from Greg’s eyes. However, this one was slightly bigger than the others.
This was when Greg saw a rat come scurrying across the area he was training in. It cocked it’s head at Greg and then Greg formed the rat hand sign. He built up his chakra in his closed eyes and he thought, Lightning Flash! Greg opened his eyes abruptly and sent a beam of light at the rat. It was blinded after that and ran into a couple of trees. After that it scurried onward. Greg’s beam was obviously good enough to disable a rat.
Greg kept training. After the rat Greg had put up his gauntlet and just focused on his training the Lightning Flash. He kept working at it and working at it. Eventually he could shoot a fairly decent wave of light out of his eyes. Once it started getting dark Greg stopped training and headed home to sleep.
Greg came back to his same training grounds the next day. Over and over Greg trained. “Lightning Flash!”
“Lightning Flash!”
“Lightning Flash!”
The beam of light increased a little, but not much. Sweat was running from Greg’s forehead. This is only a D-Ranked Technique, Greg thought, I should be able to do this! Greg ran forward and then jumped into the air. He formed the rat hand sign and then filled his eyes with chakra. He could feel the intensity building up in his eyes. Then he released it. “Lightning Flash!” Greg shouted. Light flowed from his eyes, but not enough. Greg fell to the ground. He was breathing very heavily.
Greg needed to do something, but he realized there wasn’t much he could do. Just train and train and train. Greg kept at it. He formed the hand sign, built up chakra in his eyes, then released it. After that the process would start all over again. By the time the sun started to go down Greg’s beam of light had grown considerably bigger.
Greg looked past the trees and saw the sun going down. It doesn’t matter, he thought, I must complete this jutsu. Greg kept working and working at it. Rat hand sign, build up chakra in the eyes, release! “Lightning Flash!” Greg shouted. Greg could almost see nothing behind his wall of light now. That was good. He was almost there. Then Greg felt very dizzy, and he unexpectedly fell to the ground.
Greg woke up the next morning to a bird standing close to him. “One more time and then I’ll get breakfast,” Greg said. Greg stood and the bird walked a little further back. Greg made the rat hand sign, then built up chakra in his eyes, then he burst his eyes open. “Lightning Flash!” Greg shouted. The bird looked into the light, but Greg couldn’t see this. His whole field of vision was blocked with the light. He knew that he had done it. After the light ended Greg saw the bird try to fly up but it crashed into the ground, then it flew up and spun a little. After that it flew straight again.
“I did it,” Greg said. “I really did it.”
