I thought about putting in an application for Game Master for some time now and I saw that there are several openings in the Staff Slots thread. I plan to run events which focus less on battle and more on the explorations, investigations, mystery, and intrigue. Horror based stories is what I have a love for, and I will attempt to integrate Lovecraftian Horror (and other kinds of horror) that fits within the bounds of a Naruto Ropleplay forum. I have always found mystery one of the greatest things in adventures, and I hope to make others as interested in it as I am. I have a decent amount of time also, and a keen interest in the development of stories.[/ul]

The Hole

Plot:

What is the greatest fear of men? Pain? Death? Defeat? Some would say the unknown, for in the unexplored reaches of this world mind distorting horrors lurk. A hole amongst the canyons of Kuma no Kuni is an example of such a locale. This hole reaches deep into the earth, a seemingly endless darkness waiting within. Mayhap the most unsettling feature of the hole are screeches protruding into the lands at irregular intervals. The guttural cries are unlike any thing ever heard, the sound ringing through the eardrums, impossible to identify or associate with any known creature.

A group of adventurers ventured down into the hole but only a single survivor rose and returned to Mitsubachi, the capital of Kuma no Kuni. Now almost a hermit, he spouts seemingly incoherent phrases, but an astute scholar by the name of Etsabushi Toryaku pieced together the words into what appears to be a description of what rests within that hole. Ruins from an unknown time.


The description goes as follows:

As one delves deeper into the hole the rugged terrain of nature fades and is replaced by light brown walls. A closer inspection of the walls reveals a multitude of symbols and drawings. The symbols are mere tribal shapes drawn by the artistically challenged, but the drawing are a bit more frightening. Pictures of tentacled creatures span the walls, their face in the shape of a triangle and covered in five eyes. Deeper downward, a bit of writing covers the wall, the same word written repetitively. Kh’arlagh What this Kh’arlagh is? None known, and one must explore these ruins fully to discover. The screeching of…things continues with each step growing louder and louder

The hole continues downward for nearly a mile before opening into a large room where the screeching is combined with the chanting of the word seen before. Kh’arlagh. The room is lit by multiple torches of a rather unusual colour, a dim blue. The blue spreads through the room revealing three unexplored passages. Here the exploration of the adventurers came to an end after they were attacked by those creatures of horrors, tentacles and five eyes. This is where the knowledge of the ruins ends, or rather, all that the scholar Etsabushi Toryaku could piece together from the insane ramblings of the single survivor.

The remaining parts of the ruins remain shrouded in the unknown. Brave souls will have the opportunity to venture into the depths.

• Open to all Ninja and Non Ninja
• You can form multiple groups to explore the ruins within the hole or even search alone, but it will be far more dangerous when going solo.
• All Site Rules Apply
• If a BM says you are dead, you are dead.

-This man is the only survivor of the exploration into the hole. When he is spoken to, he may not reply as his mood is now entirely random, always fluctuating. When he speaks, the man spouts only incoherent phrases. He is huddled within his home, malnourished and ill.

Tentacle Monsters

Skills: Varying from creature to creature. Some know genjutsu while other can perform release techniques such doton and suiton. They all have one thing in common, and that is their wretched teeth and tentacles with which they attempt to devour and strangle whomever they find.
-These creatures are truly disgusting, with many tentacles covering their shape along with scores of sharp teeth and five eyes set into their triangular face. The tentacles surround this face, occasionally revealing it. These creatures vary in size and ability. Constant screeching emits from their mouth and they appear to have some sorts of sentience, as they can speak several words.

-Little is known about Kh’arlagh. It appears to be some sorts of creature worshipped by the tentacle monsters. Only those brave enough to venture deep into the ruins within the hole can discover the mystery behind this creature.

The Whisperer’s Cult

Plot:

A cult of madmen lurks within the swamps of Mizu no Kuni lead by a man known as The Whisperer. The Whisperer lives within a cabin deep in the swamps, the location difficult to spot due to the multiple Genjutsu cast upon the immediate environment. Two temples of the cult stand several miles away from the cabin of The Whisperer which hold clues for the location of the cult leader. These temples are found a bit easier, neither covered by genjutsu nor hidden out of sight.

Further information regarding the cabin and the temples can be found in a small camps also within the Land of Water. The camp consists entirely of non-ninja, a group of former merchants who have come to a momentary halt in their travels. Many of the inhabitants were abducted, but several survived providing a valid source of information. The mood around the camp is low after the unfortunate times but the merchants are willing to compensate anyone who can put an end to the cultists, the woman known as Katsaki Delmari leading the search for willing warriors. These abductions have gone on for several weeks.

The cult worships the Whisperer who is believed to have transcended humanity. Is this true? Only the will to discover the mystery behind this abominable man shall lead to a truth. He demands daily sacrifices and miserable rituals are held in honour of him which involve the desecration of a corpse of torture of a living human while the cultists dance wildly to the rhythmical beating of drums.

The first of the temples is the larger of the two. Two large, demonic statues stand at the entrance of the temple to the left and right of a rotten oak door. The outside is rather macabre with a multitude of staked corpses decorating the outer grounds. The victims range from younger children to the elderly, a truly disturbing, unsettling, and twisted sight. A thick trail of blood leads to the entrance. The insides of the temple are rather bad in shape, unrepaired and worn by the years. A single altar sits at the centre with a single pole protruding upwards holding multiple heads.

The second of the temples has also fallen in a complete state of disrepair. It is several meters smaller than the other temples but the sights are all the more wretched. The cultists span the grounds outside, in a nigh perpetual dance around an enormous bonfire roasting bodies tied to wooden stakes. Rubble covers the entrance of the temple prohibiting entrance, perhaps giving an explanation as to why the cultists linger outside.

Within or around both of these temples clues lie to where the cabin of the Whisperer can be found. Is it locatable without these clues? Likely not, as the genjutsu covering it are incredibly potent. The search will be a difficult one, as first the temples must be located and then all the cultists slain.

Only then can the Cabin be found and this threat ended once and for all.

He is a truly horrible man, leading a cult of madmen savouring in the worship of his being. He is eager to find new victims and will continue to terrorize the lands until he is brought down.

-A woman of strong character and the wealthiest merchant of the small camp that has been terrorized by the cultists. She manages to keep the inhabitants together with promises and hopes of a better time, which will hopefully succeed with her new plan, to hire warriors capable of putting the threat to an end.
