Shiro decided that he would take a break from training C rank techniques for a while and work on building his arsenal of less powerful and less chakra consuming D rank techniques. He was on a roll with lightning techniques so he decided to continue on that path for a while, and came upon a handy technique known as the “Hirameki no Jutsu”, or “Lightening Flash.” It was basically a technique that turned the user into a walking light bomb that could temporarily blind opponents in battle. It would be very useful in battle if you were in a squad that could back you up.

Shiro read about it and learned it was all about chakra control and holding the rat handsign during the technique. It should be easy compared to his recent training. He got into a ready stance and closed his eyes. He made the rat seal and began to mold the chakra and push it all into his head. The pressure increased as he actually felt the chakra compress behind his eyes. He maintained the seal and then after he couldn’t take any more pressure, he opened his eyes, forcing the chakra to escape in the form of a great flash of light.

Well, “great flash” would be an overstatement. Being his first try, he didn’t do as well as he hoped. There was a flash, but the only thing it did was cause a bug to fly into his eye. He swore and rubbed the bug out of his eye before trying again. He held the seal, closed his eyes, focused chakra to his head, and then opened his eyes. This time, however, he pushed the chakra out through his eyes, instead of just letting it come out on its own. This had the desired effect as a big flash lit up the area. A small raccoon who had been watching from a tree fell backwards and walked around blindly for a few seconds before running off.

Shiro practiced several more times and was able to make a very bright flash from his eyes. He started to get a headache from constantly focusing his chakra to his head, so he decided that he had practiced enough. By the end of the day he confident that he had sufficiently mastered the technique and went to lay down. He was leaving soon with Dakira after all and needed the rest.

Shiro awoke, head clear and free of pain. He stood up, stretched, and thought to himself, " That was pretty intense training for a D rank move. Gave me quite the headache..." He did a few morning excersizes to get ready for a little more training and decided to refresh himself on the Hirameki no Jutsu he had trained the day before. He focused himself, Closing his eyes and making the rat handsign.

He felt the Chakra within himself flow to his head. He opened his eyes and... nothing happened. He tried twice more and still, nothing seemed to happen when he opened his eyes. "What the hell!" He yelled to himself before punching the ground. He was annoyed that this simple D rank skill was not working, no matter what he tried. It had worked the previous day but for some reason it refused to cooperate. He rubbed his hand and then tried again.

He tood still and made the rat signal. The wind blew around him as he stood there, focusing. He moved chakra up to his head and continued the stream until his head seemed like it was going to burst. He felt a tingling in the back of his head, almost like static. He knew this was the time.

He opened his eyes and emitted such a bright flash that he was slightly dazzled himself. This time when he used the technique though, his head didnt hurt. He jumped at the thought that he had done it. He repeated the process several times and his head felt perfectly fine! He layed back down and watched the clouds.

Effect: User shoots a stream of water towards the opponent.
Special: Handseals
Drawback: Easier to dodge at longer distances.
Description: A simple jutsu utilizing the water release. User performs the hand seals Snake, Dragon then transfers charka to their throat, creating a steady stream of pressured water from their mouths, that then hits the opponent for D rank damage. The jet stream has a maximum range of 10 meters and travels in a straight line. Speed is equivalent to throwing a kunai.

Shiro had recently returned from a quick visit to the snow village and decided that, even though he did not want to, he should probably return to training He walked to his training spot and rifled through a few more scrolls for something D-rank. He found one scroll that contained a water ninjutsu, which was an element he had seemingly neglected, which was kind of ironic for a “Mist ninja”. He took a moment to scorn himself before he continued to read the description of the jutsu.

He learned that it was basically just like having a high pressured fountain in his mouth, and he could create the water and spray it at his opponent. He discovered that it required two handseals, the snake and dragon handseals, and focusing chakra to the throat. He set down the scroll and went to a nearby river, filling a canteen. “I might as well practice with regular water in my mouth, it will be more effective than wasting my chakra before I even get down aim.” He said, then pouring water into his mouth. He breathed in, through his nose and filled his lungs. He opened his mouth slightly and blew that water in a small stream at a tree, missing completely. He repeated several times, until he finally managed to hit the tree with the weak stream of water three times in a row.

He then decided it was time to actually try to produce the water with his body and chakra. He practiced the handseals a few times to perfect them, allowing for faster activation. After working on the seals, he then focused the chakra to his throat. He had a lot of experience focusing chakra, condensing it into a part of his body. He had practiced the same type of chakra control with the Lightening jutsu he had trained with earlier. He moved his chakra to his throat as he made the handseals, creating pressure. He felt as though he was going to throw up, so he opened his mouth to use the technique.

He was sent sprawling backwards by the pressurized jet, landing several feet away, and sending water spiraling to the sky. “Well, the pressure creation is not a problem…” he said as he rubbed his head, struggling back to his feet.

He tried again, only this time he spread his feet and took a more balanced stance. He inhaled, made the handseals, and built up chakra in his throat. He opened his mouth, aiming at the same tree as earlier. The jet of water grazed the side of the tree, stripping off the bark in the area it had made contact with. He repeated a second time, scoring a more solid hit on the tree. On the third try he struck the tree dead center, leaving an indentation in the tree. He preformed the technique around 4 more times before he finally made a hole in the tree. His throat was starting to become raw from the constant use and flow of water.

He focused on a thin tree. He made the necessary handseals and focused his chakra. He aimed, intensifying his focus, and opened his mouth. The tree was punctured dead center and fell to the ground. He smiled and then layed down, resting his sore throat.

It was time for the final test, to make sure Shiro had really mastered the Pressure Jet Technique. He had the course all set up. There were 3 thin paper sheets being hung from branches, and one tree with an "X" carved into the bark. He had to try to hit all 3 papers with one pressure jet burst, which would be easy, considering they were lined up.

He began focusing Chakra to his throat while making the required handseals. He opened his mouth, puncturing the papers dead on. As he released the first blast he began making handseals and storing chakra so as soon as the paper was destroyed he was firing again at the target on the three, splitting the bark and making a significant crack.

He stopped, wiped his brow, and laughed. He had done it!
