“Wow once again you’ve found a way to define the term lacklustre perfectly girl” the Great Hoshigaki jeered, very unimpressed with Amarante’s mediocre (at best display).
“Gr shut up!” she shouted in response, angry. “I just didn’t put enough chakra into, that’s all. Yeah just not enough chakra, that’s simple enough to rectify, easy.” Yes, that was it, she just needed to put some more chakra into the technique. Forming the hand signs once again she increased the amount of chakra she put into the technique sevenfold.
The end result though was another small ripple that was barely twice as powerful as the one before it. “I should probably point out that it doesn’t matter how much chakra you put into a technique, if you don’t know how to build it up correctly” The Great Hoshigaki decided to add.
Raising her voice again, “I know that!” Amarante screamed, forming the hand signs once more. This time she focused more on how she distributed the chakra through the technique, guessing at what proportions would be best to get the result she was looking for. Actually, despite raising her voice a moment earlier she was fairly calm and her judgment wasn’t affected.
This was shown as the jutsu was able to take better form this time, easily spinning around the Great Hoshigaki and although it wasn’t able to suck him in at the rate it was currently going it was going all the same.
“That’s better” the large, blue man commented. “Your jutsu is getting good form, now all you have to do is make it go faster, that should be simple enough” he finished, making a gesture of ease with his left hand.
‘Easier said then done’ Amarante inwardly retort. She was really just guessing at how to perform the jutsu at this point and although she was making a little progress, she decided to ask for a little more help. “Hey before I try again how about you give me some pointers?” she asked him.
The Great Hoshigaki was happy to hear that he could possibly help. “Sure I don’t mind” he agreed. “Right now you’re just spinning the water in one big circle, right?” Amarante nodded. “Well try branching out the technique and see how that goes for you.”
‘Branching out?’ Amarante internally repeated a confused look on her face. “What do you mean by branching out?”
“I dunno” the Great Hoshigaki bashfully admitted. “What does it mean to you in relevance to this technique?” he enquired. Amarante still didn’t fully understand what he was talking about and held a confused stare at the man. “Look it’s not going to do you a lot of good if I tell you right away so just think about it for a little bit and then try it again.”
Looking down at her right hand, Amarante heard The Great Hoshigaki speak again. “Remember how I performed the technique? Think about that.
‘How he performed the technique…’ Amarante silently spoke to herself. Hoshigaki’s technique was really powerful. It was spinning in all directions before it sucked him down; water was going in all directions.
Something clicked inside of Amarante at the memory. ‘Water was going everywhere…’ She understood what he meant by branching out now. He was talking about the water needing to spin in a whole bunch of direction not just one and although they had to be spinning one way, it had to have more then one focal point, like water going down a sink (in fact that was probably the best comparison that could be applied).
Armed with this new knowledge, Amarante tried out the technique once more, confident this time would prove to be more fruitful then the previous attempts. Forming the hand signs, Amarante tried the jutsu out one more time, trying to apply what she now had realised.
It showed some major success. Water was now ripping all around the Great Hoshigaki, violently splashing outwards as it circled him. The Great Hoshigaki in response held a large Grin. “Now you’re getting it kid” he commended.
