It turned out that the farmer wasn't actually going to the Land of Rivers, but instead a village about a mile or so from the border. So Anzai and Amaterasu decided a leisurely stroll to the foreign land was in order. As they walked, Anzai kept his eyes peeled for his missing animal companion, Tsukuyomi. Amaterasu also kept her senses peeled for her missing brother. However, with all that was happening, neither entertained any hopes of being able to find him any time soon. As the daylight grew scarce, Anzai decided that the two of them needed to find somewhere to stay, though he lacked the funds to rent a room for the night. Still, he had heard that many inns always kept a room or two for rent for the local shinobi.

And before long, he came across one, and after making arrangements with the proprietor, he had a room, though he'd need to help out in exchange for not having to pay. It wasn't bad though. He, the owner, his daughter, and a couple of guests were the only ones there. Anzai, lacking the build to chop fire wood, nor having the skills to work most else where, was assigned to helping in the kitchen. The menu for the night was reasonably simple, a stew with roast beef and vegetables. Though as Anzai was on the staff for the night, he was the last to eat, along with the other members of the inn's staff.

That night, Anzai lay down on the bed and was quickly asleep; Amaterasu slept at the foot of the bed and quickly followed her owner into a peaceful slumber. The next morning, he set off again for the land of rivers, hoping that the rumors about that odd castle would turn out to be so much hearsay.
