The boy would stride quickly to the old man’s place wondering whether he had been wrong in following his sempai’s last bit of advice to him before they separated within the village. Long tassels of reddish brown hair would dance with excitement as if they funneled the youth’s hidden anticipation of the mission ahead. Morosuke, an old man inhabitant that dwelled peacefully within the hidden village for many years now had reported his treasured family heirloom missing only a day ago. It would be Kenchu’s job to meet with him and gather information upon the possible whereabouts of the lost artifact could be. Nothing dangerous, nor important, but the nonetheless even the stale faced Genin couldn’t ignore the flighty feeling that would be carrying his feet against his will,
“Think only about the mission…that’s all” he would remind himself as he would draw closer to the old man’s place of residence; a decorative house to say the least, but it wouldn’t be ordinary as it was common for villagers to experiment on their houses.
After all the mist that hung over the entire land made it all, but impossible to fully make out every bad detail of another’s house. A subtle knock would suffice as a withered form quickly opened the door with a relieved smile upon his face as his eyes took in Uesugi’s athletic figure.
“Ah! You’re the youngster that’s gunna find my locket…” the old man chirped excitedly, but when Kenchu remained standing at the door silently and then glanced away after a moment instead taking in the innards of the house a worried wrinkle would mark the senior’s face, “…you ARE here to find my locket, right?” he would ask in a more wary tone this time.
Putting aside his desire to remain silent Uesugi would oblige the man with a forced smile, “Yes, I am Genin Uesugi Kenchu. I’m here to help” he would deliver somewhat believably.
It would be enough to visibly vanquish the tension that had been hovering over the old man’s shoulders, “If you could kindly pass me the outline of your day yesterday I will be on my way and return by night with the lost article” he would continue not wanting to engage in meaningless banter with the quite social old timer.
For a moment Morosuke would regard Kenchu with an oddly reflective expression on his face as if he were familiar with the boy. After a few minutes of squirming uncomfortably beneath the gray eyed gaze of the old man Uesugi would finally tap the old man with a tenuous finger although his eyes wouldn’t belie the annoyance that had somewhat told of him in the time that he would feel he was wasting, “There other things I must do as well Mr. Morosuke, so please” he would offer kindly though barely managing to keep the growl from coming out in his voice, “…I need the outline quickly”
As if snapping out of a long daze, Morosuke would jerk slightly then glance around as if he didn’t know where he was. A second glance at Uesugi would settle him quickly which was just as well for Kenchu would be eager to go on his mission and the old man was hindering his time frame of work; the night time would be impossible to search in. Torn paper would come tumbling out of the man’s shirt pocket which Morosuke would promptly pick up and hand to Kenchu with a toothy smile, “There ya go mi boy” the old man would coo before shutting the door quickly.
“Tch…old people… Uesugi would mutter as he walked away with his eyes entrenched in the list of places.
