Suiton: Sazanami no Jutsu (Water Release: Ripple Technique)

I somehow made my way to a shore of what appeared to be a river. How Ironic that when I leave a place of drowning water that I find another, it was almost as if the shark within me was calling out for it. I smiled. Well if the shark inside wants to be with the water then why not allow it to be I supposed? I walked over to the waters edge and sunk my ankles in the waters edge. Ah how nice that felt I thought as I proceeded to walk further into the depths until the water was above my head. I must say that I did like the water, it was relaxing and I closed my eyes as my senses took over. The water around me took me within its tide and threatened to drag me along with its current though I ensured that it did not, the water was rather peaceful so it did not take much effort and the fish swam around with no trouble. Come to think of it, I was rather hungry. I hadn’t eaten in a while, since the Rain village but brought nothing along.
As I began to weigh my options something unexpected happened. Within a meter of my person I felt something. It was as if, something was around me and yet I didn’t know where. I opened my eyes and see that a fish was now lazily swimming around my head, mistaking me for a fallen log of sorts. Well I was a shark I supposed and moved in for the kill but the fish upon feeling my movement swam away before I could snap my powerful shark jaws against its flesh, leaving me to be hungry. I was disappointed, that was true but more so then that I was curious. I could feel the fish enter my proximity, how strange. Though it would be understandable, that fish knew that I had moved and with me being part fish myself I could probably do the same thing naturally though to improve upon this I would most likely have to perform some hand signs and help the shark part of me along in utilising this dormant part of me and maximising its potential that could at the very least be useful in hunting under water.
I began to think of a time when my father spoke to me of some of the jutsu my clan possessed, jutsu that were restricted to the Hoshigaki Clan. There was one jutsu in particular that came to mind in this situation but I could only get a vague recollection on what that jutsu was and the hand signs for the technique. I didn’t remember what they were but I knew that there were at least four of them and that the first on was the… Dragon hand sign. I remembered after a brief moment of concentration but I still did not remember so I’d have to just guess and experiment. I formed the first hand sign, the dragon, and closed my eyes, feeling the water ripple around me. After a few moments a stick passed between where I could feel and I found that I could feel a distance of two meters away from me now instead of just the one so I knew that I was at the very least on the right track but now came the phase of adding another hand sign.
I decided to try out the bird next and when another bit of debris passed though my field of feeling I found that it had retreated back to one-meter and a half with my best estimate. I was going back so I cancelled the chakra flow and started over, this time with the hand signs, dragon and dog. Almost instantly I could feel the range of my jutsu widen to three meters and so I added another hand sign to the mix and formed the monkey, just to mix things up a little bit but once again I felt my range increase and something similar to what I suspected was a fish entered my scope of feeling. Well I was feeling lucky now and since I could remember these few hand signs I could vaguely remember another one and so I tested it out and formed the cliché, tiger, hand sign and found instantly that the range of my technique increased again. Well now I was really surprised another guess and I was able to do that? I could remember the whole technique now and even its name, the ripple technique, so I knew what hand sign to try out next.
The final piece of the puzzle was the ram hand sign and once I formed it I could instantly feel my range increase to what I could only suspect was ten meters. With a smile I continued on with my planning, it was now time to put this jutsu into use.
