Cockeyed Dave's Farm

One could almost describe this place as one of the loneliest in the world. It's a little over a mile from the main city, and there's nothing left of it except for one rickety farmhouse. The grass is overgrown and unkempt, the cows that kept it trimmed having all disappeared, and the remnants of a barbed-wire fence lay scattered across the landscape. The shattered remains of a few crops can be seen not far from the house, and a pile of rubble that might have resembled a barn lay on the other side.

A windmill turns slowly in the fading breeze. The power it used to provide is no more, its vital parts appearing chewed up and spat out, so now it's just a monument to the peace that once was. Normally, the path between the farm and the nearby town would be inaccessible, the wide stretch of open ground was a shooting gallery for whatever creatures plagued that place. But today, it would be safe.

Inside sat Cockeyed Dave himself, large machete in one hand, jug of something foul in the other. A fire burned, warming the cramped interior. Somehow this old farmer had managed to survive cut off from everyone else, perhaps he knows something about how to defeat the creatures.

Kazan walked alone, choosing to take on his troubles by himself rather than stickig with the group. He had discovered a beaten path leading away from the village, seeing how he didn't want to end up in the middle of nowhere, he followed. On either side of him the grass grew tall, unkept by it's owner. The genin walk on the far left of the path, letting his fingered wave across the tips of the plants. He was glad he had left the town, it was much more peaceful out here, much more quiet. Walking around a corner, something would catch the boys eye. A small farmhouse, secluded in it's loneliness, sat waiting for a visitor. "Kazan, you have a job to do. Dont get sidetracked." but there was something special about this place, something eiry that grabbed at his curiosity.

Upon reaching twenty meters from the lonely shack, Kazan would veer off the path. Slowly he waded through the grass, letting the grass conform to his feet before taking his step. No sound escaped his movement, as far as the worms could tell, he was invisible. He stopped ten meters from the entrance, or atleast what he believed to be the entrance for all defining markers had been swallowed by the growing grass, and he too in the scene. It was obvious that this place had already been attacked before. The remains of a building sat in a sorry heap, a barn maybe? And barbed wire sat mangled and twisted throughout the landscape. But somehow and someway, this shack had remained intact. Perhaps there was something warding off the creatures.

A small breeze blew, making his jacket sway and his sword bounce on his back. The windmill behind the house turned slowly, half of it shattered, but somehow it survived. Kazan felt his butt bag, Five frag grenades, ten exploding tags, ten bells and one hundred and thirty five shurikan sat snug. He was fully armed and ready to go. He began his approach, taking each step as if he was walking on glass. Approaching the nearest door, he would collect himself. He pulled on his jacket and slowley turned the knob.

As the door swung open, many things would greet Kazans arrival. A strong aroma of fire and sweat filled his nostrils, a lovely combination. His eyes would be met with the sight of a stranger, sitting alone. One hand held a weapon, and one his drink. The boys stomach would growl, he hadn't eaten in hours. He sat there, one eye on the fire, the other staring into nothingness. The genin almost winced at the sight of the man, bot because he was ugly, but because he seemed like he was ready to kill at any moment.

Closing the door behind him, Kazan would not speak. He would slide the scarf away from his face, showing that he ment no harm to the man. He waited, not sure whether to approach the man.

"Whut in tarnation!?"

The pot-bellied man leaped to his feet with surprising agility for one his size, raising the machete and holding the jug forward like a shield. His good eye fixated on the intruder, his other eye darted around the room like it was expecting something to come out of the walls. The big, dark man put on a scary face, but it was clear he was more scared than anything. This was especially true in the way he raised his voice, the way it wavered ever so slightly as he spoke.

"Yew got ten second to explain yerself afore I gut you like a trout, boy. Speak up!"

Whatever was bothering this guy, he clearly wasn't going to give whoever just waltzed into his house a warm welcome. Even in times of great crisis, barging into someone's home tended to put them off a little bit. With this guy scared and looking for solace at the bottom of a jug, startling him might not have been a very good idea. How exactly he expected the machete to help against the creatures was a mystery. In all likelihood the weapon just made him feel better, but for now it was in the shaky hands of an unstable, frightened man and could prove to be quite dangerous.

Kazan would remain in place, it appeared thathe frightened the man. His hands would slowly rise and come to rest on his head. The was no point I'm trying to argue eith the man for his lack of hospitality. Well hello sir. his arm shifted slightly at the instinct to shake the mans hand, he stopped himself before his fingers shifted from place. My name is Kazan of the stone. He puffed out his chest. and I, Kazan of the stone, am here to save you. S-a-v-e you He spoke "save" slowly, trying to implie that he ment the man no harm. And I have had a shitty day

If the man would allow it, his arms would resume to their resting position at his side. He would admire the room, acquiring every detail. Perhaps their was something useful to be found. His sight would come to rest on the mans cripple eye. Oh how it's focus was lost on nothingness, Kazan was slightly tempted to touch it. Would you happen to know anything about the... Slight infestation your town has here?

Seeing how Kazan had angered the man, he backed away and out of his house. He was tire of this town, and he was tired of this assignment.
