I have a question about the sword fighting style kenjutsu.
There are two stances. An offensive style, and a defensive style. Now if you learn one, you can't learn the other. How ever..i was wondering if we sacrificed another fighting style slot, if we could learn the other. I don't see why this couldn't be a reasonable thing to add.
Reflex Training Rank: D, C and B Rank Effect: D Rank - Improves evasive and deflection/blocking skill marginally. C Rank - Improves evasive and deflection/blocking skill slightly. B Rank - Improves evasive and deflection/blocking skill moderately Special: None Drawbacks: Cannot learn Quick Strike training. Description: The practitioner is put through a series of rigorous repetitive movements to improve their ability to reflexively react to attacks by evading or deflecting/blocking with their sword. As they develop their training, their speed and reflexes slowly increase. Restriction: Must have a Senpai/Sensei of a Kenjutsu Dojo to learn.
Quick Strike Training (D, C, B) Rank: D, C, B Effect: D Rank - Improves strike speed and power marginally; C Rank - Improves strike speed and power slightly; B Rank - Improves strike speed and power moderately. Special: None Drawbacks: Cannot learn Reflex Training.

Among other examples, that is the prime one. Those two techs are the corner stone of every tech in their form.
Which is why i think if we give up a fighting style, we should be able to go into the other.
Pretty much (this is my opinion), the reason they put it that way is because, let's say you got 'Reflex Training.' If you were allowed to learn 'Quick Strike Training' then it would be somewhat cheap due to the fact that when you use one you can actually use the other to counter attack every time. You block an opponents attack then you use quick strike along with another technique within the fighting style. Its too cheap to have both & its like you can god mod as well with the two.

Derp. The Tsuchikage is right. You can master one, and learn a few techniques from the other- usually lower than B-Rank. For example, let's say I'm mastering in Battojutsu with my Quickstrike Training. I can still learn this Iaijutsu technique because:
Soete-zuki (Joined Hand Thrust) Rank: C Rank Effect: Deflects/blocks a moderate (C Rank or less) attack from either side Special: None Drawbacks: None Description: Commencing from a standing position, the practitioner draws and forestalls an attack from the left or right before sheathing again Restrictions: Must have a Senpai/Sensei of a Kenjutsu Dojo to learn; must have Reflex Training (C Rank) or Quick Strike Training (C Rank)
The restrictions vary, you just got to read through them well. Some of them involve being a Taijutsu Specialist, for example. Others require a specific rank in your --- training. Hope that's solved your problem~!
Hmm..a little..the thing is since i've already been in a little trouble with training things i wasn't yet allowed to. But then to train something that says in the tech, i can't, staff might just assume the worse and gut me. Know what i mean?
So i guess if Heero, or maybe even kurenai to give their thoughts on this, i could move forward.

You can't. If you know;
Reflex Training Rank: D, C and B Rank Effect: D Rank - Improves evasive and deflection/blocking skill marginally.
You can't learn;
Quick Strike Training (D, C, B) Rank: D, C, B Effect: D Rank - Improves strike speed and power marginally; C Rank - Improves strike speed and power slightly; B Rank - Improves strike speed and power moderately. Special: None Drawbacks: Cannot learn Reflex Training. Description: The practitioner is put through a series of rigorous repetitive movements to improve their ability to strike effectively with their sword. As they develop their training, their speed and power slowly increase. Restriction: Must have a Senpai/Sensei of a Kenjutsu Dojo to learn.
You can learn the techniques from Battojutsu however the higher up techniques and the quick strike training itself is a no go. It's to do with what kind of fighting style you as a person utilise (meaning your character). Sacrificing another fighting style slot wont help.
I see, so you want to master both the defensive and the offensive style of kenjutsu. Well, i`m not sure about how you go about mastering both.
However, when you do training for the offensive or the defensive you can learn some jutsu from the other style that you didn`t train for. For example, if you took "Quick Strike training" for the offensive jutsu, you can still learn jutsu from the defensive side. Though you can`t learn all the techniques from the other style, such as you can only learn up to B-rank techs from the defensive section if you learned "Quick Strike training". And remember some of the higher rank techniques require you to be tai specialist or even tai master.
