A New Eye! [Ritual/Seal Placement][Private]

Today, Jay had a mission in mind. Not a mission directly related to the village at the moment, but something that would help the village in the long run. At least, that he was sure of. Yesterday, he was in the neighborhood library when his one working eye fell upon a book that caught his interest. It was a book about a man whose surname was Axcel. This man was himself famous in the mist village, but his son was also famous for becoming the Yukikage in Yukigakure. However, that isn't what this book was about. During the last great ninja war, Axcel's eye was injured and he completely lost his sight in that eye. But he was too proud to turn this injury into a weakness. He hired Mists best scientists to create a ritual that would remove a useless eye, and make room for something new. They built chakra controlled eyelids, and Axcel created a new seal. A seal that could not only bring sight back to the eye, but combined with the ritual, had other uses too.

Jay was determined to have this. It was the perfect thing for him. When was younger, he lost his eye in an accident. Since then, his hand-to-hand combat had been crippled, so he had been trying to find a way to fix this problem. It took a few hours for Jay to find the name of the ritual, but he found it, and he found a few books on the ritual and seal itself. He found that the seal was usually reserved for high ranking ninja like Jounin and Anbu, but a ninja could pay to have it done in a small medical shop on the outskirts of the village. However, the strange bit for Jay, was that he couldn't find any information on the shop, aside from the location, and the name. Jay decided to go to the shop, and check it out, to see if it was a legitimate place.

Yesterday morning at breakfast, he asked what his mother and sister thought about having the ritual done, and the seal placed. For obvious reasons they thought it was a horrible idea, but he couldn't resist the idea of having the sight back in his lost eye, even if it was just for moments at a time. He could turn his weakness into something that makes him a more useful ninja then others. His mother even went so far as to not allow him to have the ritual and seal done. But Jay knew he was going to do it anyways. But the fact that there was no information on this shop, was discomforting for Jay. He had suspicions, so he decided today he was going to check out the shop, and if it looked okay, he would pay to have the ritual done, and have the seal placed.

When Jay found his way to the shop, he was quite disappointed. The shop was quite run-down, and it seemed like nobody was there.

He decided to quietly walk up to the window, because there were no lights on inside. But all he could see was what appeared to be dusty shelves, filled with stuff that you might find in a medical shop.

Jay was just about to give up, when suddenly-- he felt a hand on his right shoulder. Jay turned around, startled at finding a mysterious man standing behind him. "Can I help you?" The man asked pleasantly. He was a handsome middle aged man, with a doctor suit and stubble. He was smoking a cigarette too, and he looked very unkempt. Then, before Jay could respond, the man noticed the bandages covering his left eye. "Oh, would you look at that. If I didn't know any better, I'd say you have an eye that needs fixing." The man said in an excited tone. "The Usurome Ritual?" And when Jay nodded in response, the man continued; "Aaah, yes. I haven't done that in a long time, but I do remember how, if you've got the cash that is."

Jay was stunned, and had no idea who this man is. But he couldn't back out now, the man could do exactly what he wanted. Before Jay could finish making his decision, the man had ushered him into the shop, and had tea ready for him. He explained completely, and reasonably, and in a way that Jay could understand, what the ritual and seal placement would involve. He also told him the price, and how long it would take. He said the ritual could take several hours to complete, because every step includes complete precision; from removing the destroyed eye, to cauterizing it, to attaching the eyelid mechanism. The seal placement wouldn't take much time at all however, because all he needs to do is carefully draw the seal on the back of the socket, and then place the gem inside.

"Alright then mister, here's the thirty-four thousand Ryo. When can you do it?" Jay asked the man politely while handing him the money that he had worked so hard to earn.

The man didn't even need to respond, because he was already whisking Jay into one of the back rooms. What Jay saw was something that he didn't expect at all. Contrary to the shop in front, this was a clean, and sterile operation room, and Jay felt more confident in the mysterious doctor, gesturing for him to lay down on the bench in front of him. The last thing Jay remembered before he woke up, was the doctor explaining that he was going to put him to sleep.

• Utsurome Ritual (Empty Eye Ritual)
  Rank: C
  Effects: Removes or replaces one of the recipients eyes with an empty socket and a new way of looking at the world.
  Special: Medical knowledge of a medical master (500 tp in medical techs), and someone who knows how to place the seal is required for this.
  Description: In the ninja world, a person's eyes are very important. They are probably our most used sense, and even though they can be deceived, usually your eyes tell you more about a situation then just about any other sense. So it stands that when a ninja injures his eye or eyes, he becomes a great deal less capable. He loses his peripheral vision to an extent making him have a bigger blind spot. Some groups have turned sightlessness into an advantage, but many have grown to rely upon it. Because of this reliance upon one's eyes, the ninja world put its heads together to come up with a solution (more history to come within the seal).
  
  This ritual was derived from that loss of sight. The ninja world came together to create a way for those ninja who lost an eye in battle, or who just thought it useful, to see once again. Essentially this ritual removes the damaged or chosen eye, and cauterizes the socket. Then they place a chakra mechanized lid over the eye. This lid when the technique is used will open to reveal the empty eye socket. They created a myriad of techniques dealing with this socket along with a seal to be placed inside to help for a limited time. This ritual became a large success within the knowledge gaining ANBU divisions due to its low effort, and high results. Though the seal does not need to be placed, it is very rare to have it left out.
  Drawback: The removed eye loses all connections to its original human body. This makes it so when the users new seal based eye is not active they have weakened depth perception and less range of vision. When the seal based eye does activate one gains their normal vision back, but it consumes a C rank amount of chakra each turn (more to come with the actual seal technique). If you are a member of a Doujutsu then all of its powers are cut by half (i.e. Sharingan predicts half as many movements, Byakugan sees half as far etc.).
  Placement Requirements: Requires 1 metallic sphere about the size of your previous eye, a B class or higher medic for the original removal, and someone to place the seal after the medical procedure is complete.
  Cost: 24,000 for the metallic eye and the tool to perform the actual work, plus whatever the PC medic/sealist charge (NPC’s charge 10,000 making it total 34,000)
  
  
• Utsurome Atogama Seal (Lost-Eye Replacement Seal)

  History: The history of this seal does not go back very far. In fact it is a relatively new thing. The ritual it goes along with has been around for ages though. Back during the last great ninja war, Zenryoku Axcel, a recent Kage of snow, had a father who was a powerful Mist Jounin. This jounin’s eye was injured during the war, causing him to lose sight in it. As a ninja he was too proud to allow this injury to turn into a crippling weakness however. He commissioned some of Mists best scientist who brought about the original ritual of removing the now useless eye to make room for new techniques. It was Zenryoku Axcels father however who created this seal itself. Feeling as though the enhancement given to him didn’t quite replace his eye, he set to experimentation, eventually creating the seal in its current state, and learning all of the techniques that go along with it. He is kind of the mastermind behind this entire creation. Zenryoku Axcels father immortalizing himself in a ritual and a seal to help the blind once again see the world in color.
  Appearance: This seal takes on the form of a tattoo within the eye socket of an eye that is engulfed in flames. When activated, a metallic eye that is filled with holes sits within the empty socket.
  Effect: This seal is used to summon the Lost-eye replacement. When activated a metallic eye that houses a small gem, and is covered in holes hovers within one’s now empty eye socket. This eye is used as a replacement for their old eye during combat and is used for various techniques.
  Description: The seal takes on the image of an eye engulfed in flames drawn on the back of the empty eye socket. This is usually placed once the initial ritual is completed. This seal allows one to bring forth a metallic eye they house elsewhere, to use in conjunction with their techniques. Most of the techniques it uses, light will sprout out from each hole in the eye. Basically it is used as a replacement eye for those who have had their removed.
  Placement Requirements: Must have the Utsurome Ritual done to have this Seal placed
  

-Ooc sidenote; This gets kinda gory, so if you don't care to read about a guy having his eye surgically removed, then you should stop now-

IC: The doctor started by removing the old eye. He carefully used a scalpel to remove the damaged eyelids. Then he healed the spots where the lids were, just enough to scab over. He didn't want blood getting in his way.He carefully inserted the custom tool around the eyeball, basically a curved scalpel, or a small sharpened spoon. This involves completely cutting all connections between the eye and Jays head. He was surprised to find that there wasn't much left of the eye in the first place. He finished removing the eye, and moved onto the next step.

The doctor had to clean out and cauterize the empty eye socket now. He began this step in the ritual by using a medical technique to clean out the socket completely, by removing any excess flesh, and disinfecting the inside. But before he could finish healing the socket, here came the most important part. The doctor was now going to add the mechanism that would allow Jay to open his eye with chakra, and draw the seal. First the doctor retrieved the mechanized lid from his storage, cleaned it, and disinfected it; like the rest of the socket. He Then carefully placed the mechanized lid where it would be when he healed the lid into Jay's eye.

Now came the really difficult part. As a doctor who specializes in rituals, and seal placement, he knew very well how difficult it is to correctly place a seal. It requires one-hundred percent perfect precision, when drawing the seal. It also needs to be placed in a specific spot, and if it is even a millimeter off of that spot, the seal will not work. So the doctor retrieved the ink required for the seal. This was a special kind of ink, that cannot wear off, or deteriorate in the passage of time. It is in every sense of the word, permanent. The doctor carefully positioned a precision light, that was used for this special kind of operation; and then proceeded to draw the seal on the eye. All the while- referencing a picture of the seal itself. The seal looks like an eyeball engulfed in flames. This part of the whole entire process took the longest, as he needed to precisely draw the seal on a spot in the back of the now cleaned and cauterized socket. After about a half an hour of carefully drawing the seal on the back of the socket, he was finished. The doctor quickly double checked his work, and then tested the seal quickly with a technique that he created a long time ago. He then inserted the gem, and used his own chakra to test that the seal could be successfully linked to the gem, and the visual receptors in Jay's brain could link to the gem as well. When this was completed, he finished healing, and cauterizing the socket, as well as double checked the mechanized lid to make sure that it works.

Now that the operation is completed, Jay has woken up in the back operation room of the dusty medical shop on the outskirts of Mist. When he woke up, he felt quite groggy, and the vision in his good eye was groggy. "Ugh", Jay grunted to nobody in particular. He could tell that the doctor had completed the ritual, because he felt something in the eye that before today did not work.

"Excuse me, doctor? Are you there?" Jay said as he stretched, and got up from the operating table. There was no response though, and When he looked around, the doctor was nowhere to be found. But on the front counter, there was a note, and under the note was a book with nothing on the cover. The note said this:

"Dear Jay,
Congratulations young man, the operation was a complete success. Under the note, I have left a book listing all of the techniques and skills required to use the eye, along with any other techniques that you might find useful. Thank you again for your business, and I wish you luck in whatever you decide to do with the rest of your life,
~Doctor Kobayashi."
