My character on here, Yoshida, uses his puppet as a weapon and makes puppets as a hobby. I didn't just base him off of Kankuro, even though Kankuro was basically a main inspiration. But I actually based him sort of off myself because I actually do make puppets in real life as a hobby. I started off making the puppets from Puppet Master, the movie that got me into puppets. But after seeing Kankuro, my puppets began to become bigger, and now I make puppets of all sizes. My main point of this thread is to ask if any of you appreciate or even make puppets like I do? Puppets are now being considered an official dying art form, so it would just be nice to know if anyone still likes them. So yah.

Depends what you mean by puppets.... One of the most successful Broadway musicals was done with puppets and is still being performed off Broadway within the NYC Theatre District... Avenue Q
There are also many people like Jeff Dunham around that use puppets to make comedy...
and still we have the classical puppets that are used in more viral ways now, like Potter Puppet Pals.
EDITED: Oh and I am currently making puppets (a more simple 2D form of that used by Potter Puppet Pals) for my Video Production Club that we will be calling Moral Monsters.

I agree with Ayame. Unless puppets are being used for comedic purposes, they're pretty creepy. I think it would be awesome to be able to be use puppets properly though, haha.
puppets aren`t really creepy, it`s probably cuz of those crazy ass looking dummies you see like slappy from goosebumps or that one puppet from that one episode of king of the hill where it showed Dale was actually afraid of them (at the end of the ep they showed a bobby dummy that just looked epic XD). Well there are quite some puppets that are creepy but usually it`s those "realistic looking" dummies that are actually just plain ugly.
Now as for making puppets, I neva really got into making puppet or anything, the closest thing I made was where I put a sock over my head (no decoration or anything). Even though I`m not so into making them I do really like the really pretty ones and all those good ones that is nice to look at. Even those scary looking ones I like cuz they are still cool and they aren`t really creepy like what I mentioned >_>
Can ya show any pictures of any puppets you made? I`m interested enough to see some.
