NEWS OF THE WORLD: The Story so Far
In the Northern Tea Country there is a large port City. This City is named Seagull City, for the large amount of seagulls who live around he city and terrorize the inhabitants with their habits of swooping down on unsuspecting people and grabbing at any food they have in their hands. Inside this City is a huge library that has been opened for hundreds and hundreds of years. It is thought that this library was erected even before the city itself.
Like many large libraries, this place is extremely confusing and many people are known to get lost inside its walls. There are even some reports of a group of people living on wastebasket scraps and clothing themselves in paper because they have been lost in the tight corridors of the bookcases. But these are just legends.
This story concerns itself with a certain Librarian who works in this library. This man has been working there for over forty years. This man is named Ichiren Kuzu, but most people just call him The Librarian or Gramps. Ichiren is the oldest person working at the Library and loves to take care of books. This man has been in love with books for as long as he can remember, various people who have met him all consider him to be something call a bibliomaniac. That is a person who is obsessed with books to the point that they need to be around them at all times.
Ichiren has worked for so long that he knows each and every book in the Library backwards and forward. He has read every single book in the library, over the course of his forty years. Ichiren is such an avid reader that sometimes he will read two books at the same time, although this may be just legend. About two years ago when Ichiren was plumbing the depths of the books that the library had to offer, he found something extremely interesting.
He found a secret that he decided that he would keep to his grave. Ichiren discovered the secret to the Paper Release. The book it was discovered in was put in a secret place that no one would ever find. However, the thought of everything in that book going unlearned made Ichiren angry. He decided to go back and read what the book had to offer. Ichiren decided that he would try to learn these techniques, just in case he wanted to teach someone else.
Ichiren spent the next three years perfecting his control over the Paper Release, but his lack of training did not allow him to move past very basic control. Ichiren kept the book in it's hiding place and practiced his control over paper to make his job at the library easier. Little did he know his secret was found out by a spy in the library. This spy was one of many based in every single library around the world all looking for the same thing. They were waiting until someone discovered the secret Paper Release.
Once they observed this they were to send this information back to their Master. With the message relayed, one more agent would make his way to Seagull City. This agent has many names, and he decided to use the identity known as Martin. Martin arrived in the port city and made his way toward the library. He decided he wanted to use a direct approach with Ichiren. When Martin arrived at the library he asked about Ichiren and was directed to the older gentleman.
In their conversation, Martin asked Ichiren to come with him to meet his Master. Ichiren refused. Martin made a second offer, hand over the book of the Paper Release. Ichiren managed to squeak out a refusal and Martin left, letting the old man know that he would be back, and he wouldn't be as nice. Martin bought himself a hotel room and sent out a message to the Kage's of the world, letting them know he needed someone assassinated for 30,000 ryo.
Ichiren did the same. His encounter with Martin frightened him so much that he almost had a heart attack. He sent out a message to the Kage's to send a protection detail for him. But he barely had enough money to scratch together and was only able to come up with 3,000 ryo. Once the message was sent Ichiren waited patiently, hoping someone would come soon.

Personality:To some, this man is the embodiment of evil, although he hides this fact very well. Martin hides his evil nature underneath a suave exterior, in fact he is so appealing to men and women that it is rumored he was having an affair with both the Tea Country Daimyo and his wife. Martin chuckles a lot, at some joke that he is the only person that is privy to. Martin can look very different to many people, which allows him to blend in and go unnoticed until he wants you to notice him.
