After arriving at the spot she had decided to train at today, Kanae got into a comfortable position and sat down. She took out the scrolls she had brought with her and spent a couple of minutes scanning the scrolls for an interesting jutsu. Soon she found one that basically let you make decorative kunai. Although it might not have been as useful as some of the other jutsus, Kanae was interested in learning anything artistic. Kanae neatly put the other scrolls away and began reading the jutsu she had chosen to learn more carefully.
As Kanae read, she noticed that the Rock Creation Technique was a prerequisite for this jutsu. That probably meant that her first step would be to create stone with her chakra. Kanae knelt on the ground a placed the scroll about 18 inches in front of her so she could still consult it if she needed to. Then Kanae carefully formed the required handseals and placed her palms on the ground in front of her. She began gathering earth chakra into her hands.
After she had gathered a moderate amount of chakra, she started channeling her chakra into the earth beneath her palms. She had decided to try to create a robin, which was her favorite type of bird. After forming a mental picture of the robin she wanted to create, Kanae began turning the earth into stone. As the earth was being transformed, she mentally shaped it. Kanae continued channeling chakra into the earth until her creation was finished.
Once it was complete, Kanae commanded her stone robin kunai to shoot up from the ground in a direction pointing away from her. Within a few seconds, the stone robin flew out and embedded itself in a nearby tree. The speed of the stone robin kunai was about the same as it would have been if she had thrown it herself. But unlike a regular kunai, her opponents wouldn’t be able to see her throw these. Kanae stood and walked over to the tree to take a look at the damage her stone robin kunai had caused.
When Kanae pulled the stone robin out of the trunk, she saw that it had gone about as deep as a regular kunai would have. You could definitely tell that her stone robin was a bird, although the outline was a little blocky. It wouldn’t affect the outcome of the jutsu, but Kanae liked her art to be of excellent quality, even if it was just a stone bird kunai. It seemed like Kanae would need to practice a little bit more. Kanae walked back over to her initial spot, knelt, and place the stone robin kunai next to the scroll.
This time, in addition to making the stone robin prettier, Kanae would attempt to make multiple stone robin kunai. Kanae performed the handseals a little more quickly this time – she had already started to memorize them. Instead of gathering earth chakra into her hands, Kanae collected it in the earth directly below her palms. Kanae figured that she would need at least five times as much chakra this time since she was making five birds instead of one. A little extra wouldn’t hurt either, so Kanae settled on gathering six times as much chakra as she had gathered the first time.
Because of all of the time Kanae had spent practicing jutsu, she was proficient at manipulating her chakra. It didn’t take her very much time to gather the extra chakra she needed to perform the jutsu. Once she had enough, Kanae started turning the earth below her into stone. She chose five different areas that were close together to turn into stone. The jutsu would be more useful if she could form all five birds at once, so Kanae decided to start practicing now.
As the earth was changing into stone, she formed a stone robin in each of the five places. She spent a little bit more time on this step than she had the first time because she wanted the robins to look nice. Once they were complete, Kanae directed them to fly at the same tree the previous stone bird kunai had hit. A moment passed before all five stone robins shot up out of the ground at the same time. They were all travelling at the same speed too.
Kanae stood and walked over to the tree she had aimed for. All five had hit their target, although one almost missed. Kanae removed the stone robin kunai and examined them. This time they were a lot rounder and looked more like sculptures than pieces of rock. Kanae was satisfied with the way they had turned out this time.
